Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Taylor may be playing it slightly safe, but he's doing great.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 I still think "Supersitious" would have been perfect for Taylor. There's too much background singer in this song. Taylor almost didn't even have to work at the end there.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Calling the best female singer on the show "shrilly" just seems like something out of left field, especially when it was likely the best performance of the whole season thus far. Taylor's doing a great job tonight, but that's to be expected. I want a harmonica solo before the season's over from him even though it won't happen.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 I mean, everyone's entitled to their opinions, but wow..."shrilly"?
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 That was one odd compliment.

Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Calling the best female singer on the show "shrilly" just seems like something out of left field, especially when it was likely the best performance of the whole season thus far. She hit a long note in the beginning, and it was so unbelievably off-key, as was most everything else of that song. I call it 'shrilly' as that is what I thought it was. Why that seems to be so confusing is....odd. Then again, most of the girls are off-key... In example, this Fantasia wannabe. Meanwhile. The judges are quite annoying. I know its been pointed out, but Simon never interrupts the other judges when they speak, and yet they do it constantly for him. Randy brings the ghetto talk, Paula brings the poetic/off-the-wall comments, and Simon keeps it real {well...usually. The praise of that one falsetto baldy still confounds me.}
naiwf 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Wait is she a kid too? EDIT: I just started watching this season so I don't know. Yeah, Lisa's 16, Paris is 17 and Kevin is one or the other but I can't remember at this moment. That shit at the end is exactly why I can't stand her and can't wait until she goes home. She's so phony.
starvenger 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 11 Down, and best to worst so far... Taylor Paris Bucky (Yeah, I know. Doing a song that SRV covererd probably helped) Katherine Elliott Mandisa Lisa Kellie Kevin Melissa Ace
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 I wondered if anyone was going to do this song.
Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Lots of flashy lights, a less overflowing beat, jumpier camera angles, and did I forget to mention the lights? They're pushing him... and that's a good thing. At least for this show. He seems to be perfroming well enough, I suppose.

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Top 3: Katharine Taylor Paris Who cares about everyone else. These three are so far above the competition right now based on their performances tonight. Elliot needs to be seeing this and needs to make some drastic improvements. Taylor was fantastic, maybe my favourite performance of the night. I may have underrated Paris. I probably did. I did. Her's was very good. However, it will be interesting to see her out of her comfort zone - we could get more congo and less what she did tonight. It's sorta unfair for Chris to get these smoke and mirrors. naiwf 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 I'd go with Taylor, Katharine and then Chris. I have no interest in Paris whatsoever so even when she's good I don't "feel it". Oddly enough, I didn't have that problem with Fantasia who I thought was even less likable. Bottom 3 should be Ace, Kellie and Melissa with Melissa going home. Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 order of elimination SHOULD be: Kevin Kellie Melissa Ace Lisa Elliot the final 6 are interchangable
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Chris got a bit overrated by Simon. But he's probably the only guy Simon can see making a lot of money with, given the current music climate, so of course Simon is going to hype him. Chris is about as legitimate as porn star titty. starvenger 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Is it just me, or are Ryan and Simon flirting tonight? I mean... majorly. Should Ace be jealous? Bottom three SHOULD be: Covais, Ace and Melissa Bottom three WILL be: Covais, Bucky and Melissa. Ms Juggy 2006 will be going home.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted March 15, 2006 DAMN. That performance was money by McPhee. She's widening the gap.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Ace: Not good. He's fucked it up so bad. He'll live on his looks for about another month, and then he's gone. Kellie: Boring. Which is the death nail for her... since the only reason she's gotten this far is her charisma and dumb hick girl character. Her voice just isn't very good. And that dress doesn't work for her. Will survive for a while, but she's definitely out of my Top 3 now. Elliott: Again, he's a good singer... but, he's just kinda dull. He really needs to learn to get some presence while performing. Safe for a month or so, but he's going to have to learn quick. Mandisa: Should be Seacrest's best friend right now for opening up her personality. She is truly a great singer. Shame that her fatness gives her no shot to win, but she can still make a career as a singer somewhere. Bucky: Better than I thought. Which isn't saying much, because a disaster was expecting by everyone, probably. He's still gone soon, though. His voice just doesn't make you want to listen to him again, and he looks hideous. Melissa: Ouch. She really couldn't afford the lyrics fuck up... she's likely gone tomorrow. Shame, because I thought she sounded better this week than usual. Looked good too in that dress. Lisa: I'm lost on why the judges push her so much. She barely even sung that song, also. Kevin: Oh God, he needs to go away. Now, he knows he's the BUTT of jokes, and plays up to it. Just stop this. He's so not ready for this competition that it isn't funny. Katharine: Yes, she is good. Very good. Awesome performance. I wouldn't put her up with Kelly yet... but, she keeps improving. And it took many shows for Kelly to truly bust out some great songs, also. Her presence keeps improving every week. Her voice is as good as anyone's. She just needs to put it all together, and have that one memorable performance that will put her over the top... which she'll have ample chances to do. And I don't need to mention how beautiful she is. Taylor: Not the best song to show off his singing talents, but still a solid performance. He gets the absolute best out of his situation. I move him up to #2 now. Paris: She's got a good voice, although it doesn't do much for me. She sounds like your usual black singer. But, she's such a fake bitch. And she's not very attractive. Chris: Meh, not getting the judges' love on this one. Much better than last week, but not great. I get Simon's comment on how he makes the song different, but he also sings off key while trying to do that. Plus, he needs to get out of this rock star music image. I move him down to #3 now. Guest fanofcoils Report post Posted March 15, 2006 dialidol.com is saying any of these 5 ppl can go tonight: Bucky, Kevin, Ace, Melissa, Lisa based on busy signals, and this is with increasing their 88% accurate 3% margin of error to 5% which should make it 100% accurate. Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 out of those 5, I'm hoping Lisa stays. Anybody else can go (hopefully Ace)
naiwf 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 I would have no problem with any of those 5 going, though Lisa or Ace would be great just for the "anything can happen on AI" factor.

Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted March 15, 2006 I'm in lub with Katherine McPhee. That's all I have to say, I guess. No. She's mine. dialidol.com is saying any of these 5 ppl can go tonight: Bucky, Kevin, Ace, Melissa, Lisa based on busy signals, and this is with increasing their 88% accurate 3% margin of error to 5% which should make it 100% accurate. Those predictions are so flawed, though... and the 88% accurate is a real stretch, since he predicted more than 2 people for the early weeks. I would figure the busy signals depend most on if you call immediately after the show, instead of an hour later.
starvenger 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Not really flawed. More like they're hedging their bets...
C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 So, how 'bout my boy Bucky nailing it. Well, maybe not quite, but I was happy with his performance. I liked Chris as well, but was perplexed by the judges who kept saying he took a Stevie song and made it his own. NO. He took a Stevie song and did the Chilli Peppers version of it (which I was hoping he'd do), but still, let's not make it like he reinvented the wheel here. Katherine was indeed good. I was disappointed with Kellie. She shouldn't go for the fancy dress glam. She needs to stick with the cute farm girl shtick.

Which begs the question - how DOES one reinvent a Stevie Wonder song? I think that most of us would rather that they didn't, which is why we dread these "Stevie weeks" that they foist upon us. I think that the best thing you can do is try to own the stage and own the audience, and I think that really, only Chris and Taylor did that. So, how 'bout my boy Bucky nailing it. Well, maybe not quite, but I was happy with his performance. Like I mentioned, doing it in a sorta-Stevie Ray Vaughn style was the smartest thing Bucky's done. It was probably enough to keep him in the competition for now.
