Hawk 34 Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 Of course not, while the possibility of placing the title on Rey had been discussed before Eddie's death but not taken at serious consideration, it would be impossible to imagine WWE willing to pull the trigger on such a move. Anyways, Rey owns his title reign to Batista more then Eddie.
Dobbs 3K Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 I'm pretty sure either Eddie or Randy Orton would be champion right now...assuming Orton didn't get suspsended.
Guest J0bber Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 The greater question is, if Eddie hadn't died, would Head Cheese have returned and been pushed?
Just John Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 If Eddie hadn't died, Angle wouldn't have even been champ before Rey. There would've been no need to move a Raw guy to hold the World title since they could've just put it on Eddie when Batista got hurt. I think Rey still would've gotten the title eventually, but not as soon as he did.
Black Lushus Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 he would have been champ eventually, Eddie's death and Batista's injury just speeded it up a year or so...but there's no doubt about it, sooner or later he would have had a world title reign.
Guest Princess Leena Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 I disagree. WWE has absolutely no faith that Rey himself could get over on a world title level. I think there'd be a slight chance they would have given Rey a short, transitional run if roster trouble ensued... but, that's all.
LucharesuFan619 Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 This thread is going places in a hurry...
SuperJerk Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 Had Eddie not died, probably Eddie would've held the title from November until WM22. I'm guessing Batista would've gone ahead and taken some time off after losing the title (and wouldn't have been injured while wrestling Mark Henry), and might have been ready to return by WM22. Thus, the SD main event probably would've been Eddie v. Batista v. Orton. Rey, on the other hand, would've competed in the Money in the Bank Match. credit: The Alternate Universe 34545B Observer
Kahran Ramsus Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 No. Eddy would be. If Batista didn't get injured, he would be. There would have likely been plans to put the belt on Orton in either case, but his suspension would end that and the champion would retain at Mania.
Placebo Effect Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH No.
Guest NWO_Sucks Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 How does Hell Motherfucking NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sound? Rey wouldnt be champ at all.
bob_barron Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 Not as good as hell no. If Eddy hadn't died....he'd still be alive.
Guest Timmer Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 No way in hell He would had been a contender, nothing more.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 He'd have lost Money In the Bank to RVD if Eddie were alive.
iggymcfly Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 I might have to be different here and say yes. I mean if Eddie was the champion for the last few months, Angle would have never come over, and we'd still have tweenerish champ looking for a face to lose the belt to. Since Orton wouldn't be getting the title either way, and they wouldn't have both Eddie and Cena retain at WM, I think Rey still probably would have got the belt. I think that title reign was ultimately about lack of options more than at was capitalizing on Eddie's death.

Rey would most likely be in the MITB ladder match and not won.

The original plan was for Orton to win but he pissed off managment so they decided to give the belt to Angle. So the combo of Orton being stupid and Eddie passing is what made Angle the champ. But as for the question about Rey, there is no chance in hell he would be the champ if Eddie had not died.
