Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2008 Everything just felt flat and forced...even with Walken's usually humorous deadpan delivery. To me, his intro was the funniest part of the show. I was REALLY let down by the Digital Short...usually it's the one saving grace for a bad episode.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2008 The Digital Short was hilarious. I'll probably watch it today or Wednesday, since really, the episode could've been anything and I would've liked it
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2008 From what I remember hearing on AOTS, its going to have a bit more of an "urban" feel to it. Still kids in high school in danger of flunking out and going back in time to meet who they have to report on. Sadly, no phonebooth. They'll be transported by their blinged out magic Cell Phone and instead of George Carlin in the phonebooth it'll be Chris Rock who lives in the magic cell phone.. Maztinho 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2008 Although my childhood probably wasn't that cool, remaking Bill and Ted's would be sodomizing it with a barbed wire baseball bat as it's _still_ in my Top Five Favorite movies, it was my favorite forever.
Jorge Gorgeous 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2008 Hot Rod was funnier than any other movie you've ever seen. Whatever you say, AIDS monkey. I lasted through the first 15-20 minutes or so, and barely cracked a smile once. Is there better gags later than that, because the only part I found even remotely funny was when Samberg ran into the woods to dance to lame 80's inspirational rock. THAT was funny. Samberg wanting to fight his step-father and putting on a fake mustache to do so? Not funny. If the movie were carried by Bill Hader it might have had a chance, or any number of the Apatow crew, but Samberg? The dude is just not entertaining. I'm not going to tell you that you have a bad sense of humor, because... well, is there really such a thing? But Hot Rod was fucking great. The dance fight part was one of the least funny things, I think. The friends were great, Bill Hader and the other Lonely Island guy and the dude who is gonna be in The Foot Fist Way... I loved it. "YooHoo shit heads, I found these fireworks in the bathroom, would you like to blow them up?" I don't know, man. I liked it more than I liked Superbad. Maztinho 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2008 Also Hot Rod, pretty funny. How can you not love a premise of a guy wanting to get his father-in-law well so he can kick his ass? When he does the jump and starts waving, and then it cuts back and he's nowhere near his bike, I spit soda. Spoiler tagged just because I'm anal like that. Mik 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2008 I agree with both camps on Hot Rod. While I was watching it I couldn't help but think that it was a piece of shit... but I absolutely loved it. Walken's SNL was good. Cold opening was hilarious and LASERCATS! When it started I was thinking... "Please be Lasercats 3 and not something else." And not only was it Lasercats but it was a good one. The pug/cat battle was great.

Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2008 CBS has decided to cancel Secret Talents of the Stars after one episode, as reported by CNN.com April 10. The episode featured George Takei singing country and Clint Black doing stand-up comedy. Only 4.6 million viewers tuned into the series premiere. Ric Flair was scheduled to appear on a future episode exhibiting his tango dancing skills. Saw this reported on WWE.com, and not that I watched it, but I just thought it was pretty funny how fast it was canceled. That was quick. Didn't it just premiere last night? No ric Flair tango skills I guess.

Ripper 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2008 More Movies I have watched recently...since you are all so interested. Cloverfield - I don't get all the bad things I have read from people about this movie. It was what I expected. Its a monster movie shot through a hand camera. A damn good monster movie shot through a hand camera. And if featured Jessica Lucas...so...yeah. There was really nothing to dislike about this movie in my opinion unless you are one of those people that like happy movies. This was a horror...it was a horror movie all the way through. Kick ass movie. There Will be Blood - Jesus christ daniel day lewis is amazing. I could just watch him act for hours and not even care what the movie was about. The music was a bit strange, but it grew on me. the story was kinda there though. Not really leading to anything, but I didn't care. It was just a backdrop to the character of Daniel Plainview. And that fucker that played Eli did an incredible job too. PLUS, I was able to take about 5-6 quotes to use in real life like Bastard from a basket and that throat cutting line. Once again, awesome movie. P2 - I forgot ALL about this movie. It stars Rachel Nicols' breast, that dude from American Beauty, and Rachel Nicoals. It is a pretty good horror. the first death of the film pretty much makes it. It is almost tough to watch but its so cool you can't look away. Great acting, the story was a LITTLE out there, but hey. Awesome move. But the real star of this is Rachel Nicols' breast which give the performance of a life time. They are no doubt the star of this film and I am expecting great things from them in the future.

Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2008 Interesting... I was talking to a close friend of mine tonight, and we got onto the subject of 80s comedies. We started quoting lines from a bunch of movies, and midway through I realized that one of the reasons we're such good friends is that almost no one else I know would have the slightest clue what I was talking about. I mean, who sits around and reminisces about Hot to Trot, Summer Rental, Short Time and The Great Outdoors? I realized that a good deal of my friends have no idea about any of that. There was a very small window, both in time and in personality, to enjoy that type of thing. It made me sort of wistful.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2008 Ah, The Great Outdoors. It was interesting to see Aykroyd as a full-on prick rather than an overgrown child. Just rented: Hatchet I Am Legend I've heard mixed things about Legend, mainly about the ending. A lot of my friends have seen it and said that the ending was iffy, and when I guessed it (having read the book and seen both Omega Man and Last Man on Earth), they said it was different. So I'm wondering how they changed it. I know the overall story's been tweaked a bit, but I do hope they keep the same feel of isolation that the book had. Hatchet is an underground sensation, and it features a lot of references to older slasher flicks and local Mass shit (namely the Newbury Comics logo being displayed throughout the movie). I'm REALLY hyped for this one, as it's been a while since I've seen some good indie horror (outside of Murder Party, but that was more of a dark comedy than horror). Matt Young 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 There's no topic to bump and I'd doubt it'd reinvigorate discussion even if there were. I just dislike slasher flicks as a whole, though, save for FVJ and Kolobos and a handful of others. Was alright and all, but it lost my attention once the killings actually started. It would've helped greatly from some better pacing, like spreading the deaths out as opposed to just having them ALL in the span of 25 minutes.

DMann2003 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 Recently bought The Adventures of Baron Munchausen 20th Anniversary DVD, cause I love Gilliam and all. Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 Lamberto Bava's "Demons" is the perfect dumb but really fun 80's horror flick. Also, the recent adaptation of Jack Ketchum's novel "The Lost" is really good. It's pretty long, and for a while, is more of a drama than a horror movie, but oh boy, it's worth the wait. Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2008 Whatever happened with that Last House on the Left remake? Did I imagine that? Since torture porn and remakes are big right now, but about due to decline, I could see that one having some potential as a coup de grace. "Piss your pants."
Ripper 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2008 They have already declined. Movies like 28 months later have already been shelved after the massive failures of some of the R Rated Horrors. So expect to see more PG-13 "horror" movies like that bastardized remake of Prom Night. I am totally expecting it to end with them finding all the kids he 'kills" in the movie alive, tied up in a closet and they still go and have prom afterwards.
