I love how Barrett said AJ was walking toward the Cubs dugout when in reality he was turning to walk back to his own when Barrett turned him around and punched him.

EDIT: Ortiz would have had that one.

Fun game in Detroit. Griffey's grand slam was a bummer, but Curtis Granderson tying it in the 9th then Detroit winning in their first extra inning game this year was great. Weather's pitching combined with Lopez's terrible throw choked it off for the Reds though.

I can't believe the Tigers have the best record in the MLB. I'm not predicting playoffs or anything yet, all I want is a winning season. and all they have to do is go 54-66 the rest of the way and they have it

My God, is Brandon Webb having a great season so far or what? He's shutting everybody down, as his 7-0 record would indicate.

Ozzie Guillen on Rich Hill's take on the homeplate play:

"Tell that Triple-A [bleep] to shut the [bleep] up," Guillen said. "Tell him to start throwing some strikes or he's going to get Dusty fired."

I only caught the highlights of the brawl, but what did Pierzynski get ejected for? I saw him get hit, but I never saw him retaliate. Seeing John Mabry duck under Brian Anderson's lunge Super Punchout-style was hilarious too. What a crazy brawl.

At this point, the Cubs have become a comedy troupe. They're almost not even a baseball franchise anymore. Ownership blasting the newspaper that they own for writing critical articles? Liquored-up catchers starting fights after getting floored by incoming base runners at home plate? Jacque Jones earning his diploma from the Moises Alou school of baserunning? Freddie Bynum? I can't even begin to fathom Rich Hill's comment on the situation, unless Dusty Baker was hiding under the table, wielding his secret Rich Hill Muppet for the press conference.

And there's another game tomorrow, with Pissed Off Ozzie and Big Z in the same ballpark. This will be awesome.

Ah, the last two posts have be laughing out loud at four in the morning. I need a life.

And MiB, for what it's worth, Dusty pretty much threw Barrett under the bus during the post game press conference.

I'm late but I want to gloat about the Yankees killing Wagner yesterday

And the hate on Willie from the M-E-T-S fans is ghey, maybe he should have left Sanchez in, but it's not his fault that Wagner is a bum

Yeah, TNA REALLY benefited from AJ being there....

I do think I heard someone on ESPNEWS refer to him before as The Phenominal AJ Per(however the fuck you spell the name).

What? No has mentioned Bonds hitting #714 yet? Could it be people don't care about it as much as ESPN wants us to?

But, #714 is the greatest number in sports! We all should care!

I really hope ESPN forces their baseball "experts" to say this crap.

There was like a half a page about it in this thread.

I honestly think that Pujols is going to hit 75 HR's this year.

I want to toss this out now.

I understand that it's a long season, but this guy's numbers are ridiculous and I don't see any sign of him slowing down.

Especially they continue to pitch to him. It's crazy to think they're still tip-toeing around Barry, but they'll pitch to Albert in virtually every situation. His homer last night was understandable, since it came with two on and no outs, so the Royals could ill afford to walk him.

On its own, putting Wagner in isn't that bad of a move. Leaving him in after giving up two runs and showing himself to be clearly incapable of closing the game is nothing short of sheer idiocy.

Why in Gods name are teams still walking Bonds intentionally??? Esp yesterday, bottom of the 10th Bonds is hitting .229 on the year and they walk him to load the bases, WTF?

Because first base was open and there was no one out so they wanted to set up a force play everywhere. Also Ray Durham was on deck who has a sub-.300 OBP and sub-.400 SLG. Really it made all the sense in the world. Plus Bonds isn't nearly as helpless as people make him out to be. Beyond the low batting average he's still having a decent year, and with Moises Alou hurt, is by far the Giants biggest threat. I agree he's walked too much but the situation in the 10th was the ideal intentional walk scenerio.

Does anybody like him, except ChiSox fans?

I mean I don't like Mike Shannon, but at least he doesn't whine for the rest of the game if a call doesn't go the Cardinal's way or whatever.
