CanadianGuitarist Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 Since nearly everything in our lives becomes a pissing contest, we decided to settle a Mario Bros. debate the old-fashioned way: Bloodshed. I heart Luigi. Always have. I'd always used him in Mario 2 out of loyatly, which came up in discussion at work one day. He said he always liked the Princess, on the grounds she could float, unlike Luigi's slippery landing. I maintained it was an acquired talent, and he was both an idiot and a pussy. Which led to the Best of 3 Mario 2 Showdown. Three lives. Whoever gets further with their respective character gets ten Mcdonald's sundaes and either a free beer or JD/coke at this weekend's drinking bonanza. I lead 1-0. Made it to 2-3, despite losing two lives in 1-2. He was defeated by Birdo in 2-2. Discuss.
AndrewTS Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 I expected you would have a Smash Bros. series. Mr. Green has some good attacks there. I was glad to see Luigi become a main character in Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, but he gets no respect there either. Partners in Time makes it clear that Mario seemed to be the one that was the born hero, while Luigi was a bit more of a coward. Defeated by 2-2 BIRDO, though? Tell your friend he totally sucks.

Guest Fook Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 Are you allowed warping? If so, there's no reason you shouldn't make it to at least 4-1 due to the warp in 1-3.

No matter what game it is i use him, Mario Kart, Mario Tennis, Golf, Party etc. But i guess a race on the SNES mario kart would be a good way to settle the score. Failing that, race on Luigi raceway on the N64 Mario kart. Its the most even racing surface, anyone can win on that track.

Provided he doesn't go emo on me from the Sabres loss, round two goes tomorrow. I wonder if I should cry shenanigans over all five rounds being at his place.
keith6601 Posted June 2, 2006 Report Posted June 2, 2006 You can't really call shenanigans since you took the first game so obviously you can play fine with his controller or tv settings or anything else that could be brought up. I agree Luigi took skill and I always used him also.

I lost one in 4-1, one in 4-2 and defeated Birdo to win. As per the pre showdown stips, he'll be paying for my wings Monday night. His MSN name is now Joe Amateur as well.
