vivalaultra Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 After the series with the Sox, I fear what's going to happen in the Tigers series. I mean, they swept the Cardinals. I hope Wandy has a good game tonite...
Vampiro69 Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 Well, the Astros are going up against a rookie on monday, so they may have a chance but so far this new rookie (not Verlander) seems to be pretty good.
strummer Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 The Red Sox will honor their 1986 AL Championship team before the Mets game on Tuesday. One player didn't get an invite. And BTW it wasn't Spike Owen
devo Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 Joe Morgan: Hello? Ozzie Guillen? I am SO GAY for you! Ozzie: No! Really excited about the Mets/Red Sox series. It should be a terrific trio of games and I'm interested to see how Boston's fans will react to the Mets' return to Fenway. Hopefully, enough New Yorkers will make the trek up there to balance out any extraordinary negativity.

Annabelle Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 Well, the Astros are going up against a rookie on monday, so they may have a chance but so far this new rookie (not Verlander) seems to be pretty good. Miner isn't a slouch. even in his one loss he looked really good. he spent most of the year dominating in the minors, thats why he hasn't gotten nearly as much press as verlander & zumaya.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 Going to the Yanks/Braves game on Tuesday.
Jericholic82 Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 Going to the Yanks/Braves game on Tuesday. I'm jealous lol anyhow I just finally voted for the allstar game and these were my picks (I didnt wnat to pick sheffield and matsui conisdering theyre injured and out the whole season maybe I wrote in Melky just cuz I felt like it and know that the write-in probably doesnt make a difference. First Base: Giambi, J., NYY Second Base: Cano, R., NYY Third Base: Rodriguez, A., NYY Shortstop: Jeter, D., NYY Catcher: Posada, J., NYY Outfielder: Damon, J., NYY Outfielder: Hunter, T., MIN Outfielder: Write-in 1: Melky Cabrera Write-in 2: First Base: Delgado, C., NYM Second Base: Utley, C., PHI Third Base: Wright, D., NYM Shortstop: Reyes, J., NYM Catcher: Lo Duca, P., NYM Outfielder: Floyd, C., NYM Outfielder: Nady, X., NYM Outfielder: Soriano, A., WAS \ Utley since kaz matsui is no longer around and closest team to NYC, Soriano out of respect for his Yankee days. Notice how I tried to pick all Mets too. Though we have differences its still NY after all. Ill be rooting for the mets to sweep the sox (even though I heard mets fans were rooting for the phillies to beat the yanks, which makes no sense considering they ar eth eteam "closest" to th emets in the standings) Hope cano isnt hurt too bad. At least we tooke the series, but why must they make veery rookie pitcher look like Cy Young himself? man was yankee stadium empty last night or what?
Cheech Tremendous Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 It's people like Jericholic82 that make me think fans shouldn't be able to vote for these things. Why even bother with an All-Star game? Let's just have the Yankees and Mets play.
vivalaultra Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 I have a feeling the All-Star game's gonna blow. When will they learn that casual fans are no good at evaluating talent. I, on the other hand, can spot talent a mile away, which is why all of my All-Star votes went to Astros...and Ryan Zimmerman.
Guest Felonies! Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 Jericholic has like 10 IQ points on Drury, if that.
KingPK Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 Meh, I usually just watch the first few innings anyway. Though I might tune in towards the end if Papelbon is in there in a "save" situation.

I, on the other hand, can spot talent a mile away, which is why all of my All-Star votes went to Astros...and Ryan Zimmerman. I plan on writing a piece about this in the near future. I think the fans are just as good a group as any other. The problem isn't the fans, it's the process.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 YES! Chase Utley has done the impossible!

Yeah but fans of the bigger clubs in particular don't have an issue selecting a dude batting like .220 or someone who only played in 15 games. I'm surprised Yankee fans didn't go all out with getting someone like Bernie Williams into the game just for shits and giggles. Papelbon just blew a save to Chase Utley. Boo. Hiss.
Bruiser Chong Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 Howard got jobbed on that called third strike.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 Howard got jobbed on that called third strike. I thought so too at first, but I can see Papelbon getting that call.

The All-Star thing with the fans selecting players is a damn joke. Look at last year when Scott Rolen was the leading vote getter at 3rd base despite missing an assload of games. I agree there's a good number of Yankees, Red Sox, Mets, and Cardinals that deserve to be in the All-Star game, but there's alot of other guys that aren't getting the popular vote despite their worthiness. And another thing, why's David Ortiz on the ballot but Jim Thome isn't? What's up with that? So, is Papelbon's ERA above .40 yet?
Guest Felonies! Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 I think the managers, players, and sportswriters should have a much bigger say in this than the fans.

Bruiser Chong Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 I know it's pick your poison there, but they look stupid for pitching to Ortiz now.
naiwf Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 Big Papi does it again. That guy is everything A-Rod is not. And the Phils are now 12 games out.
bob_barron Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 Going to the Yanks/Braves game on Tuesday. Me too. I'll be the one wearing my Braves hat.
Vern Gagne Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 This I don't like. I've seen the same thing on the Twins and Pirates website.
KingPK Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 I know it's pick your poison there, but they look stupid for pitching to Ortiz now. Still if I had the choice, I'd put Ortiz on and take my chances. Manny's a patient hitter as well, but Ortiz is just unreal in these situations.
vivalaultra Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 This is about Morgan Ensberg, isn't it? Meh, last year, I thought Ensberg deserved to be an All-Star without only having to take the place of Rolen. I thought Aramis Ramirez and David Wright both deserved it more than Rolen did last year. This year, Ensberg's having a shitty season so far, so I have no quams with him not being in the All-Star picture.
Kismet Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 Miner is very wild so far. Astros could bust out to a big lead.....nevermind, bases loaded double play to end the inning. 1-0 Astros.
vivalaultra Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 Good thing "Magic" Wandy Rodriguez is mowing 'em down. The 'Stros always seem to have a problem capitalizing on opposing pitcher's wildness.
