MillenniumMan831 Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 Honestly, the original ECW on TNN had crappy ratings that I believed topped out a 1.1. The bad timeslot can almost be cancelled out by the fact that wrestling was a lot more popular and "in" as a whole in 1999-2000. An "ECW" w/ a Big Show/Taker ME would definitely do better ratings than a ECW show w/ a Dreamer/Credible ME. Believe me, it annoys me as much as the next guy that they are doing all this at the expense of the ECW name.
haVoc Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 WWE and Sci-Fi were both very happy with the 2.2 rating for ECW On Sci-Fi this week, especially considering it aired an hour later than usual. The show opened with a 2.2, then dropped to a 2.1, then did a 2.0 for the final two full segments, and did a 2.3 for the overrun. The show that ECW On Sci-Fi replaced averaged less than a 1.0 rating. Credit: PWInsider.com/411 As long as Sci-Fi's happy Vince won't change a damn thing.
Dobbs 3K Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 People just have to accept that this WWE-ECW is a completely different thing from the original ECW, and simply judge it on its own merits. I mean, for a one hour wrestling show, I wouldn't say the recent episodes have been all that bad. There's been some decent wrestling, some character development, etc. How much more can they really do with one hour a week?
Just John Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 Judging it on its own merits, I think the show is still awful. It's consistently the worst wrestling show on tv. Yes, even behind Raw (which at least has some decent characters).
Angle-plex Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 The bad outways the good by FAR. They usually have a good main event (not this week) and that's it. Think of all the bad stuff.....Kelly, Knox, Test squashes, Sabu squash or DQ......nothing really means anything on this show. They must expect you to watch just for the sake of watching it because they certainly don't feel the need to hook the viewer into coming back next week. Kahli dominated The Undertaker. Are you excited for ECW next week?
NoCalMike Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 The best news about this week's ECW rating has to be that the rating actually dropped for the MAIN EVENT for the first time, I believe in all six weeks. At least people showed that they were not as interested in Big Show/UT as all of the previous weeks, where the rating would go UP for the Main Event.

People shouldn't bother with thinking ecw is going to be the real ecw of the 90's.

Could some of that drop come from the fact that the show was on an hour later this week? A show that runs until midnight in the middle of the week is going to lose some viewers. Some people have to work in the morning.
cabbageboy Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 Yeah I don't think that meant anything. At the moment I don't really mind the Raw or SD guest star of the week stuff, but if they are still doing this 3 months from now then I'll be upset. I think they are just doing it at the moment because guys like RVD and Angle are absent. Once the trial run is over and ECW is picked up (which I'd say is all but a lock at this point) then I'd expect the cross promoting to wane and ECW will develop its own main event scene. At least I would hope so.
Enigma Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 The highest rating ECW on TNN got was a 1.3 at some point in early 2000.
