BorneAgain 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2006 From the Observer: Teddy Long announced the injury to Mark Henry and that he would be off the Great American Bash. They announced Mr. Kennedy as the new opponent and there was a confrontation with Kennedy and Batista Bobby Lashley b Fit Finlay via DQ in a U.S. title match J.T. Tinney won the Diva Dance off. No word if that means she gets immunity from being eliminated this week Sylvan's new gimmick continued as he was going through the local room trying to talk wrestlers into going on a summer vacation to Quebec Daivari did a promo with Great Khali talking about Sunday's Punjabi Prison match. I hope they actually explain what it is. Kid Kash b Brian Kendrick with outside interference from Jamie Noble Psicosis b Super Crazy in a fast paced mach Rey Mysterio b King Booker with Chavo Guerrero getting involved From PWInsider I just got back from the Smackdown! and ECW tapings here in Corpus Christi, TX. Here are the results. Teddy Long opened up the show and announced that Mark Henry was injured at SNME and introduced Batista's opponent for Great American Bash: Mr.Kennedy. Kennedy came out and did a promo. I can't remember much of what he says but it led to Batista coming out and confronting him. Surprisingly the crowd actually booed when Long announced that Henry was out. Lashley over Finlay via DQ. The diva contestants come out and did a dance off of some sort. I can't say much about this other than I think that JT won. Sylvan was shown backstage talking to various SmackDown talent and where they came from. He then went on to say something along the lines of, "Visit Quebec, it is much better". Great Khali came out and Daivari cut a promo on his behalf, stating that Undertaker will not walk out of the Punjabi Prison match. Kid Kash beat Brian Kendrick after Kash and Jamie Noble double-teamed Kendrick. I believe Ashley and Jillian got the win over Kristal and Michelle. Psicosis beat Super Crazy. There were a lot of high spots and they actually had a pretty good match. Rey Mysterio beat King Booker. Rey wins after some help from Chavo. I question giving away almost three matches two days before the Bash, but I suppose they're counting on no one actually watching the show.
tpww7 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2006 So I guess it's reverse WWE logic? The champ goes over before the ppv meaning Booker wins. Still..um why did they give away the ppv main event 2 days before the ppv?
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted July 19, 2006 Oh crap, "specialty" match for Khali. Which means he's jobbing. And may have to take a bump.
iliketurtles 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2006 Giving the PPV main event away 2 DAYS BEFORE THE PAY PER VIEW has to be the most retared booking ever. The must think people are buying cause of Tista.
algrim 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2006 I'm hoping that they add Psicosis vs. Super Crazy as one of the filler matches. Also, a CW match couldn't hurt.
Dark Age 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2006 I can not see any reason why they are having Rey/Booker now. How strange.
Dark Age 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2006 The SmackDown! roster is so thin. There's like about ten guys. I still like the shows, but man, they need to fill out the roster a little. Not so much at the top of the card, even, there's just no one.

Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2006 5 bucks says a Ponnjabi Prison match is just a No Holds Barred match with a fancy name. I thought it was a cage match with spikes and barb wire across the top
cd213 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2006 The main event was announced well in advance. King Booker won the battle royal a few weeks ago to become the #1 contender.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2006 WWE has given the main event before a PPV a couple times. Stop making a big deal out of it. If anything it means Booker will win at GAB. What pisses me off more is that, wouldn't have it made sense for Ken Kennedy to get his win back from Matt Hardy making him look strong before GAB?
AntiLeaf33 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2006 I'd say the Punjabi Prison match will just be some backstage brawl where they have it all decorated to look like they are in India or something lame like that
Dark Age 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2006 WWE has given the main event before a PPV a couple times. Stop making a big deal out of it. If anything it means Booker will win at GAB. When? Genuine question, because I don't remember any times that's happened. Rock/Booker before SummerSlam, I guess, but that wasn't a real match.
haws bah gawd 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2006 Even though it wasn't the main event, in December 2004, WWE went ahead with a match and title switch involving Rey Mysterio and RVD vs Kenzo and Rene Dupree on the Smackdown before Armageddon. Even though it wasn't WWE, you can't go without acknowledging Luger winning the WCW belt from Hogan, 5 days before Road Wild. Easily one of the stupidest booking decisions in history. UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2006 In between NWO 2000 WM 2000, the then-scheduled 3-way between Rock/Show/HHH was given away free on Raw.
keith6601 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2006 In between NWO 2000 WM 2000, the then-scheduled 3-way between Rock/Show/HHH was given away free on Raw. Didn't Foley or Linda show up at the end of that and announce the main was a four-way now though? I wouldn't count that as giving away the main since it furthered the storyline going into the match. The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2006 that's why he said "then-scheduled" I believe it went that, after Vince, Shane, and Steph all joined in the corners of Show, Rock, and HHH...that Linda came out and introduced who she would be representing... and that man was Mick Foley (at the time it was only the second match in his career that he had used his real name for ...the first being the Foley vs. Funk streetfight on Raw a few weeks before OTE98, which ended with Foley winning and going back to the Dude Love outfit with he, Vince and a bunch of Love Bunnies all dancing together...which of course led to Corporate Dude vs. Austin at the PPV)

BorneAgain 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2006 More detailed spoilers with important detail bolded: The show opened with Teddy Long announcing it is gonna be Mr. Kennedy facing Batista at GAB. Kennedy comes out and cuts a little promo which brings out Batista to confront him. Kid Kash vs. Brian Kendrick. Nice back and forth match pretty similar to last weeks match between their respective partners. Kid Kash wins after some outside help from Jamie Noble. Chavo is shown in the back with Rey. Non title match is set up between Rey and King Booker tonight in the Main Event. Gregory Helms comes out for commentary. Super Crazy vs. Psicosis have a match for title shot at GAB. Good competitive match that got good pops from crowd. Psicosis wins and has words with Helms afterwards. Ashley and Jillian def. Kristal and Michelle McCool. Typical diva match which went better than expected. Great Khali and Daivari come out and cut promo saying the same generic spiel they have the past few weeks. We still don't know what a Punjabi Prison match is exactly. Lashley vs. Finlay. Finlay comes down with Regal. Good match that was similar to their other outings. Little Bastard came out from under the ring to attack Lashley. Then Regal and Lashley end up fighting which caused the DQ win for Lashley. Next out are the Divas and Miz. It was a dance contest that got pretty good pops. Most could dance but a few were clueless. I can't remember who wins but does it really matter? Rey Mysterio vs. King Booker. Decent match that had its moments. The end had Chavo distracting Booker to help Rey get the win. After Smackdown ended, they set up the ECW ring and the show started at 9:00cst. So the show was on an hour time shift. Biggest pops: 1. Rey Mysterio 2. Batista 3. Undertaker Biggest Heat: 1. King Booker 2. Girl in Diva contest that couldn't dance 3. girl in front of me holding up a big ass sign that blocked everyone from seeing
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2006 Kennedy is just going to be Batista's whipping boy. This is probably additional punishment for his attitude problems and the whole Super Crazy situation. I still think Finlay taking out Lashley during the triple threat match and having Batista challenge Finlay in a non-title match would do better then Kennedy/Batista. Taker666 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2006 Gregory Helms comes out for commentary. Super Crazy vs. Psicosis have a match for title shot at GAB. Good competitive match that got good pops from crowd. Psicosis wins and has words with Helms afterwards. Helms/Psicosis for the Cruiserweight Title at the bash. hell yeah!. This will be a better match than Helms/Crazy from Judgment Day as I think Psicosis is a bit better wrestler than Super Crazy. Crazy/Psicosis on SmackDown though should be a pretty good match Damn, The Great American Bash looks to actually be a damn good PPV this year.
