CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2006 My buddies marking out of the "dream roster" of WCW: NWO Revenge for N64 got me thinking: Discounting age (i.e, one worker being green still, one being over the hill, etc.) and things like backstage issues, bad gimmicks, etc., can anyone one fed/year have an ultimate dream roster? Obviously, this is all pretty well based on personal preference but, if you could re-write history as a booker, knowing what each performer would become:(and I think managers/on-camera performers could be a variable). 98 WCW should get some mention: Hogan, Savage, Sting, Giant, Benoit, Eddie, Malenko, Jericho. On the drive home from work, 92 WWE was pretty tough to disagree with Flair, Hogan, Hennig, Savage, Taker, Harts and Bulldogs. I'm ultimately saying 97 WWE: Hart, Michaels, Austin, Taker, Kane, Vader, Rock and HHH.
World's Worst Man 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2006 I can't imagine any roster being better than AJPW's in 1990, 1991 or 1992. You pretty much had 4 of the top 10 workers of all time in Jumbo, Kawada, Misawa and Kobashi. Taue would become a borderline great worker later on. Akiyama would do the same (he debuted in '92). Giant Baba was a pretty good worker during his prime. You had Stan Hansen, Terry Gordy, Steve Williams, Tsuyoshi Kikuchi, Kroffat & Furnas, and The Fantastics, all at least good. I've probably missed a few even still. For high-end talent, I doubt there's been better.

Just John 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2006 Mid 90's WCW was stacked. I'd probably go with 97 if I had to pick a year. It had a good combo of big names and workrate. Hogan Savage Nash Goldberg Hall DDP Luger Sting Piper Hart Flair Giant/Big Show Benoit Malenko Eddie Guerrero Chavo Guerrero Jericho Mysterio Ultimo Regal Finlay Steiners Booker T Syxx Jarrett Meng Mortis/Kanyon Wrath/Bryan Clarke Raven Saturn Konnan Alex Wright Hennig And all sorts of luchadors (Psicosis, Juvi, La Parka, etc) 1992 AJPW would be a good lineup too since we're not considering age. You get the end of one era (Jumbo, Tenryu, etc), and the beginning of another (Misawa, Kawada, Kobashi, etc).
Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2006 WWF in 2001-2002 had a pretty stacked roster because they had so many WCW and ECW guys, even if most of them were criminally misused. I'd probably lean more toward 2002 nbecause they had Mysterio and Brock by then
iliketurtles 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2006 I'd say WWF 2002 had one of the best overall rosters throughout the course of the year. Only if the writing was better.

Robert 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2006 NWA/WCW in 1989 had some great guys on it. Ric Flair Ricky Steamboat Terry Funk Sting The Great Muta Lex Luger Brian Pillman Dr. Death Steve Williams The Steiner Brothers Steve Williams The Midnight Express The Free Birds (All three) Barry Windham (for a bit) Tom Zenk Mike Rotundo You also had guys like Paul E. Dangerously and Jim Cornette as managers. You also had teams like The Skyscrapers and The Samoan Swat Team who were decent heels. You had some great PPV's and some great matches on various shows. Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2006 I think that I'd have to give the edge to WCW '97...the roster was huge, but it had a good mix of main eventers, a solid midcard, veterans, cruiserweights, luchas, a few Japanese guys, a good tag scene, etc. My second pick would be WCW '89, third would be WWF 2000. GODSON 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2006 I thought WCW had it from 96-99. Even though WWE was winning those last two years, on paper WCW still had a better overall roster, they just had bad storylines. 1999 WWE roster was fairly weak in hindsight and 97. Guest Report post Posted July 31, 2006 1992 WWF. Shitty gimmicks, and good NA wrestling at times. Too bad the wrestling didn't draw for shit. Berzerker and Colonel Mustafa were my dream tag team back then, it sucks that it never happened. When I say 1992 WWF, I'm going to cheat and use the whole year. There's just a lot of characters packed into that whole time frame. If I don't cheat, I'll take the period around Summerslam. Fuck Hogan. No, I don't think it's the absolute best talent wise, but there are so many different directions that you could go with the booking. As a fantasy booker, you could put together a fucking CARD with those names. I want to watch Royal Rumble 92 and Wrestlemania VIII tomorrow morning. So I will.
