Although MVP tells people that his real name is Antonio Banks, it is actually Hasaan Asaad.

PWI is reporting that Victoria has signed a 3-year contract extension with WWE.

Sure its not really a handful, but I suppose when you look at the long list of wrestlers that there have been since these titles were created way back when, then the claim gets a little more steam added to it. When looking at that perspective than sure of the 1000s of wrestlers who made there lives in the business only a handful had been world champs.

Raw head writer Brian Gewirtz was credited, or blamed, depending on your point of view, for booking Shawn Michaels to pin World Heavyweight champion Edge on his last night on Raw. Gewirtz's explanation was that guy leaving the territory, or brand in this case, has to job on the way out.

 

Triple H was the power behind the move because when it was questioned, he supported it, which made it close to a done deal. There is a belief backstage that Triple H doesn't want Edge to succeed, noting that he tried to block all previous plans of him to moving to SmackDown and winning the title until Mr. Kennedy went down with an injury, and at this point he couldn't reasonably block it anymore. There was vocal opposition to Edge being pinned, saying that it makes the SmackDown title and champion look secondary. Triple H's argument was that HBK is the biggest tenured star on the brand, and he had just put over Khali, and he needs a big win because he'll be wrestling Cena on PPV again within the next few shows. On the other hand, Michaels suggested doing a non-finish, since from his perspective, the key point of the match was for him to be beat down by Randy Orton to promote their match for tonight at Judgment Day. Michaels said he didn't want to bury the SmackDown title but was told it was Vince McMahon's decision and he wasn't changing it.

 

As you might imagine, Edge wasn't pleased with the booking decision and he wasn't hiding his dissatisfaction backstage that night. Edge is said to be happy to move over to Smackdown because internally it's considered less political, not to mention that he doesn't have to deal with a certain wrestler as much anymore.

 

Stupid, but this is the truth.

These guys need a lesson in booking 101. They always get things about half right while missing the big picture at the same time. It does make sense for Michaels to get a big win and it does make sense for a guy leaving the territory to do a big job on the way out. But you never job your world champion out to a non-contender, especially when they are just starting their run with the belt. That kills all the momentum Edge had right out of the gate. Stupid.

Here is why Brian Gewirtz is a complete moron. Edge isn't leaving the company! Look, Raw and Smackdown are separate shows in theory but it's all just WWE. Thus it's imbecilic to keep jobbing guys out who are leaving for SD, since it only serves to hurt the image of that show to have these guys who were last seen getting buried on Raw. I even remember thinking it was stupid that they buried Rene Dupree hard in 2004 on his last Raw before he went to Smackdown. He jobbed in a match and then Austin stunned him a few times if I recall, just to make sure he didn't get over on Smackdown (where they actually tried for a while to push him!).

 

Ever notice that guys leaving SD are usually never jobbed out in this fashion? I don't recall John Cena jobbing to JBL in a non title match in June 2005 before he left to go to Raw.

--Nothing is for certain regarding Shawn Michaels until he has his knee fully checked this week. There is a (hoped for) estimate of him being back for Survivor Series but anything at this point is speculation other than he's off everything and all Raw summer main events plans have to be changed again.

 

Making beating Khali like they did even more silly. They should have flip flopped the title matches and had Khali get DQ'd while beating Cena to a pulp.

As a forum owner myself, I guess I just like to see an active forum with lots of topics, we just seem to trot over the same subject in CTDWAT.
