The Office, Season 3

Recommended Posts

Anyone catch, during Jim's interview, David Wallace ripping on the HR guy who works in New York? 'He's probably the only guy here that you're not going to like'. They're going to need to go an episode where him, Toby, and all the other HR guys get together.

Guest The Minor Threat
I just remembered, wasn't there supposed to be a big crossover episode with the UK Office cast? It was announced back in October. Or was that for next season?

Martin Freeman and Mackenzie Crook (Tim and Gareth) were supposed to appear in "The Convention" representing Wernham-Hogg, but plans fell through.

I think I read that they couldn't get the UK actors in time for what they had planned and they were going to push it back to next season and try again.

New Creed Thoughts!

The worst part about Raisin Bran is the bran. Hands down.

I saw a man fishing bottles out of a garbage can yesterday and it reminded me of a funny story.

I don’t like hockey. They should get rid of the pucks and put those shoe blades on their sticks – then you’d have a game on your hands.

To be a good pick pocket, you’ve got to look like a regular Joe. Don’t dress up in fancy colors or jewelry. That’s where the Gypsies have it wrong. Pair of slacks, t-shirt, hat – that’s all you need. And it helps to have tiny hands, too.

I’ve had enough of this LBJ character.

If I had to pick between a chimp and a spider, I’d take the chimp. Harder to forget where you left it.

Reminder: Michael’s safe combo: 26-22-30.

Creed Thoughts

Where’s Thousand Island? I’ve got some vacation time saved up and it sounds like a delicious place to visit.

Root beer floats. It does. I’ve tested it.

There’s a fat man that sits by me. He has some sort of jar of multi-colored power beans. I need those beans, man.

The last thing I want to deal with at work is people.

I’m thinking about buying a horse. Great for transportation and once you’re done with it, you’ve got about seven days worth of meals.

Never trust mailmen.

Reminder: Michael’s safe combo: 20-22-36.

"When you become close with someone, you develop kind of a sixth sense. You read their moods, like a book. Right now, the title of Michael's book is: Something Weird Is Going On; What Did Jane Say? The Michael Scott Story by Michael Scott (pauses) with Dwight Schrute." - Dwight Schrute

In "Product Recall," when Andy and Jim go to the High School, they should have blurd the faces of the students since they are "underage" and you have to have a parents signature to be in a documentary. Or atleast the girl Andy was with.

I dunno, just a thought.

Man, I'm really missing The Office already. Been watching season 2 with dvd commentaries and season 3 episodes for the past few days. Seems like September is never gonna come around.

Hmmmmmmmm...

Good point. I woulda never think of that. I don't really think of it as a documentary although it's portrayed as one.

The fact that it is a documentary has driven me nuts for a while now.

Why wouldn't Roy know that Jim kissed Pam on Casino night? HE WAS TOLD NEARLY A FRIGGIN YEAR LATER.

How long are they holding these episodes out of TV in their world?

Well, even if it did air on television in The Office universe, Roy doesn't strike me as a guy who is going to sit down and watch a documentary on office life, even if Pam is in it.

I always thought that they either haven't shown the documentary, or it's being shown overseas. I think they've talked about wanting to actually do what happens if they see the documentary, but they know that will change the whole show

Yeah, in the UK version, the Special takes place 3 years after season 2 ended, and by that time everyone has seen everything. David Brent can't get dates because everyone knows he's an asshole, Tim was embarrassed about being rejected by Dawn (twice), etc.

Personally I don't care, because it's a TV show. I'm willing to suspend disbelief for the best show on TV.

I'm with you Supes. I try not to be too critical of those kinds of things. If it doesn't always make perfect sense, who cares. It's a comedy.

'Office' sets videogame deal

MumboJumbo licenses rights to NBC sitcom

By BEN FRITZDunder Mifflin is going interactive.

In a rare deal to turn a network live-action sitcom into a videogame, casual gamemaker MumboJumbo has licensed rights to "The Office" from NBC Universal.

Peacock net comedy will be the first-ever Hollywood license for the publisher, which makes inexpensive arcade-style games. It plans to turn "The Office" into a humorous game in which players have to handle jobs and play pranks at Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch.

"We were anxious to expand our audience with a property that has broad appeal and works well as a game," said MumboJumbo VP of product development Mike Suarez. "It will help us to demonstrate that casual games are the true mass videogame market."

MumboJumbo has likeness rights to the show's cast, who will be portrayed as bobblehead-type dolls. Game will also feature audio and video clips from the show.

Because of its simplicity and low cost, "Office" videogame won't be available for high-powered consoles like the Wii, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 when it bows in the fall. Instead, MumboJumbo is making it for the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP handheld consoles, as well as the PC. Gamers will be able to download it from a number of Web sites, including, quite likely, NBC.com.

Deal also envisions MumboJumbo making several sequel games in the near future.

TBS is going to start showing reruns this fall and FOX affiliates will start doing the same in 2009.

I guess you don't need to get to 100 episodes in order to be syndicated anymore?

I don't think that was ever a firm rule. It's just the generally accepted threshold for when a show entering syndication will probably be successful. Among others, House and Desperate Housewives have been in syndication for a while.

Ideally, the threshold is 5 Seasons or 100 eps only because it's easier for programmers to purchase them in 5 ep strips. But with The Office the extended episodes will be broken up and different cuts than were shown on the initial broadcast.

Damn, when I read that, I thought it meant they would show Office reruns every day as part of their "Coffee Break" block, but no such luck. It will just be 2 back to back episodes on ONE night a week to lead in to their crappy original comedy shows.
