razazteca Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Do they even know how to play poker? The cast of News Radio will be the announcers and a few pros from the World Series of Poker will be there to give hints.
Scroby Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Didn't Ortiz vs Shramrock 3 already happen with Ortiz winning or am i thinking of something else? So I'm confused about the whole strip poker thing. Since ECW is only a hour long, is the poker game going to be like the opener or main event for ECW that night or is it going to be something done in backstage segments where we get random shots of the game? Do we know that yet or are we still figuring it out?
Lei Tong Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Didn't Ortiz vs Shramrock 3 already happen with Ortiz winning or am i thinking of something else? Ortiz has already beaten Shamrock twice, the second time being a controversial stoppage in which many people think Shamrock should've been allowed to continue eating elbows for a few more seconds before the ref stepped in. Ken's lost a number of times since coming back from pro-wrestling often (hilariously), yet the guy's name power, cultivated by his early-UFC exposure and WWF tenure, doesn't seem diminished in the least. Also, Shamrock will supposedly, win/or lose, retire after the fight.
alfdogg Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 They're not going to be naked, who gives a fuck?
Vern Gagne Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Just you watch Tori Wilson's rat-dog will be the "diva" who ends up naked.
Steviekick Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Just you watch Tori Wilson's rat-dog will be the "diva" who ends up naked. More likely Vito.
Guest supercool Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Strip poker would work a lot better in the 80s or 90s where people couldn't watch porn as easily as they could today. Perhaps they should have more ring girls like they do in Mexico and leave the super obvious sex exploitation stuff like strip poker alone. I think the WWE should forget about the strip poker and start to go back to more family like entertainment. Great wrestling is what we want. I love women more than anyone but I don't think we need so much sex stuff.

Cuban Linx Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 For what it's worth the Strip Poker game will probably be more competitive than Shamrock/Ortiz will be.
jester Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Hear that? That's the sound of Vince not learning a goddamn thing from the "camera in the cheerleaders' lockeroom" incident of the XFL.
Dobbs 3K Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Just you watch Tori Wilson's rat-dog will be the "diva" who ends up naked. More likely Vito. Oh gawd, I think you just figured it out. It will be like when Rico entered that women's fashion competition that one time.
Guest ravman77 Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 If anything, this just says to me that Vince isn't taking the UFC seriously. If he'd had any real balls he would have given an hours worth of PPV calibre matches as a big fuck you to the UFC.

k thx Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 I'm not gonna lie. I'd watch the strip poker.
snuffbox Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Kelly will be on the verge of nudity at the end of the show, Mike Knox will prevent it it, Sandman attacks him, brawl ensues. End of show. Other channel - Pure Sport.
Anakin Flair Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Why any of you still watch this is beyond me. Hell, I'll be watching Ken.Tito, and I only have a passing interest in MMA.
MrRant Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 I didn't even know Ortiz vs. Shamrock was happening on free TV. Nice job promoting it guys.
Enigma Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Oh yeah, like this beating UFC in the ratings would embarass UFC at all. Ratings don't mean shit in terms of money. UFC beats the living fuck out of WWE in PPV buyrates. That's where it matters.
The Niggardly King Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 They're gonna stip Vito... aren't they?
razazteca Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Kelly will be on the verge of nudity at the end of the show, Mike Knox will prevent it it, Sandman attacks him, brawl ensues. End of show. Other channel - Pure Sport. Ken Shamrock slips, falls, gets ground and pounded, everybody complains about early ref stoppage, again. Dana White makes another super duper earth shattering announcement by bringing in a big name from Japan claiming at UFC 70 its gonna be Mirko Cro-Cop vs Tito Ortiz as the main event at MSG.
snuffbox Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 Nah, they'll let it go just long enough to keep Shammy's marks' (though never his own) mouths shut afterwards...but you're dead-on with obvious result.
k thx Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 So is this just going to be a 5 minute skit on ECW, or a seperate program?
Vern Gagne Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 It's taking place throughout the show.
Scroby Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 So we'll pretty much see snip-its before and after commericals. Hopefully we'll still get a good amount of wrestling matches like a normal ECW show. Yeah I know, I"m getting my hopes high on that one.
Guest East.Coast.J Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 You guys are nuts if you think that ECW is going to beat the UFC in the ratings when the two go head to head. UFC is going to CLOBBER ECW by a conservative 2:1 margin. It's the biggest marquee match in the history of the company on a better television night than they typically have. I think it will get a lot of major media coverage in the days leading up to the fight as well. I wouldn't be shocked at all to see Ortiz/Shamrock III peak at a 4.5+ and for the entire show to average a 3.5 or higher. I don't exactly know who the demographic for Diva Strip poker is. I LOVE hot girls. If I see hot girls in my classes or at work, I stare. If I see them on the internet, I stare. But there is some weird dynamic with wrestling where two of the hottest women on television can be rolling around in bras and panties and I just don't care. Candice Michelle has somewhat curbed this as of late, but still I can't see myself possibly altering my viewing habits due to poorly acted strip poker.

We know that UFC is going to beat ECW in ratings. We find it stupid that the way WWE wants to counter UFC is with a strip poker game.
muzz Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 This'll only work if it's strip No-Limit Texas Hold 'Em. That's where the ratings are.
Guest Princess Leena Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 Yeah, I think I'll watch Ortiz/Shamrock III and get my porn where I usually do...the internet. This won't even be porn. It will be the usual formula of some "diva(s)" gets stripped to her lingerie, and pretends to act like it embarasses her.
naiwf Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 Yeah, I think I'll watch Ortiz/Shamrock III and get my porn where I usually do...the internet. This won't even be porn. It will be the usual formula of some "diva(s)" gets stripped to her lingerie, and pretends to act like it embarasses her. You forgot to add the part where said diva has either already posed nude, or decides that because the crowd hoots and hollers at her while she covers her non exposed breasts/ass that she's no longer embarassed and then starts playing to the crowd with "provocative" poses.
RedJed Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 This would make much more sense if WWE released some strip poker show with the chicks as a ppv or DVD or something (you know, actually showing nudity) - instead this is done to run against UFC? Huh? Fuck, bringing back the brawl for all concept back for one night on Oct 10 would be even better than this. Or having a night on ECW of all "extreme" matches or something.
