C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2006 He reminds me too much of Bob from Mr. Show. It throws things off a little bit for me.

Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2006 I dunno, he comes off as evil/creepy. Works well for me. I don't have a problem with it either...I think the actor does a fine job of making you wonder what exactly the character is up to...I still haven't made up my mind whether or not he really is a villian. I'm sure he IS, he may be Sylar himself, but I'm still wondering what exactly his motives are.
starvenger 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2006 The cheerleaders dad needs to be recast NOW. To me, he is the only weak spot on this show. Actually, he's been signed on as a regular as of episode 11. I agree with the sentiment that he's got the evil/creepy thing down. He seems like a normal enough guy which makes it work even better in my mind.
BlackFlagg 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2006 Maybe saving the cheerleader isn't saving her from being killed. Maybe after her little revenge stunt Daddy's gonna try and bring her over to the dark side....

naiwf 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2006 I finally got to see the episode, and I just wanted to say that this show rocks. Pretty much everything I wanted to say has already been mentioned, but I do have a theory as to how the cheerleader could die for real. The black dude with Claire's dad (listed as "Haitian" on imdb.com, but I'll call him Adebisi just because) is the key. My memory may be a little fuzzy but I believe he had the ability to negate the cop's power at the bar. As far as I could tell, he was able to hear everyone's thoughts BUT Adebisi even when he was concentrating on him, so if I'm reading it right he could possibly stop Claire's healing capabilities (admittedly Nate flying in his proximity shits on this theory) which we know are not perfect as she was "dead" when the tree pierced her brain. If someone mortally wounds Claire in his presence and she bleeds out, or she gets "Sylarized", I don't think she'd be able to return to life even if he left. Getting on to the whole Sylar issue, we know that Adebisi can wipe out someone's memories but they haven't shown how he does that. Since Claire's dad specifically told Adebisi not to kill Brady (or was it Brody?), I'm going to guess that both guys work with Sylar. My gut says Sylar takes the brains of his victims to gain knowledge or power either by eating them or simple absorption depending on how graphic they want to get with the visual they'll eventually show of him doing his job. Those are just some thoughts I'm having because I'm assuming we're in for some swervetastic episodes in a few weeks.
Banter 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2006 I'm not convinced that Claire's dad is a villian. They almost are making it too obvious that he's "bad" so I'm almost expecting a twist.
tommytomlin 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2006 I'm not convinced that Claire's dad is a villian. They almost are making it too obvious that he's "bad" so I'm almost expecting a twist. I agree. The fact he didn't straight up murder the guy who raped his daughter suggests to me that he's on the good side. And we've never seen him do anything that bad. He kidnapped and tested the Psychic Cop, but he seemed fine afterwards. He went through the Indian father's house, but we don't know if he killed him. He threatened Petrelli, but to what end? I think he knows of Sylar and the evil to come, and is trying to find a way to stop him.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2006 If the guy with Claire's dad has the ability to negate others strengths, what happens if he meets Peter who can absorb powers. Would the two cancel each other in the process?

Spicy McHaggis 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2006 Perhaps Sylar was the alter ego of Claire's dad and somehow they became physically separated.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2006 If the guy with Claire's dad has the ability to negate others strengths, what happens if he meets Peter who can absorb powers. Would the two cancel each other in the process? Good question. Peter's skill of being able to temporarily absorb someone's power is what made me think that the Haitian guy might be able to temporarily nullify someone else's, or he simply knows how to block out his own thoughts which seemed less likely. They're doing a really good job of leaving enough questions up in the air at this point that you can't help but tune in to see what pieces of info they'll end up giving you in any given episode. bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2006 my theory is that the big boom IS either Peter, or Sylar, or even both, when they reach critical mass. like if ALL the heroes meet for the first time, and Peter's around them all, and gains all their powers, kablooey. I say this because so far nobody has been shown an actual motive to want to destroy the city.
Guest Ninja Report post Posted October 31, 2006 I think the Haitian guy is some kind of telepath too, and is able to block others from reading his own thoughts. it wouldn't make sense if he could negate other's powers, becuase then how would Nathan have been able to fly away and escape? Also after the Heroes marathon last Sunday, they showed a preview of the rest of the season, and it seemed like Claire's dad isn't a bad guy, but is trying to gather up all the heroes to stop some threat, whether that be Sylar or the nuke. bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2006 This episode = meh. Nikki's storyline is lame and they spent WAY TOO MUCH time on it, especially since most of it was telegraphed early on.

naiwf 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2006 HATED this episode. No psychic cop, no flying brothers, very little Hiro. Pretty much my thoughts exactly. Also, as I was watching the episode tonight someone asked what exactly Niki's role in the whole nuclear explosion storyline was, and I couldn't think of any way to respond. I think at this point she's a peripheral character who is more tied in with that Linderman (sp?) guy than anything else, and as such they've given her waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much TV time. The fact that she's the worst actor on the show and both her husband and son's characters also suck just makes every scene based on her family a bore. They need to get the focus back on the Petrellis, Hiro/Ando, the cop, Isaac and Claire. Next week's preview looks pretty solid, and will hopefully erase this mini clunker from my memory. KingPK 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2006 I skipped this week to watch the game, and I also think that the Niki story is awful, so should I bother watching this at NBC..com because there was some good story development with other characters, or was there nothing but Niki? In other words, will I miss anything by skipping this episode entirely?

The main points of this ep were: -Petrelli talked to Hiro over the phone for a bit. -We found out that the girl that was with Indian man in in cahoots with Cheerleaders dad. -Cheerleaders dad found her birth parents, and arranged a meeting. Only problem is, they weren't her birth parents, they were just stooges. I like the idea of Niki's powers, but the actress and subsequent scenes with her family kill it for me. Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2006 I really liked the touch of Hiro wearing a VOTE PETRELLI button on his shirt. This show was pretty Niki heavy but it has to be important if they are spending this much time with it. This show had just about as much attention paid to Claire and her father as it did with Niki and DL. Let's not act like it was 60 minutes of Niki. I don't think this was a bad episode at all, while it wasn't as exciting and dramatic as the previous episodes, I felt it still managed to develop the story smartly. I liked that Hiro is realizing that he can't always use his powers and I think the build to the meeting between present-day Hiro and Peter will be very interesting. Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2006 another fine epsiode and I'm not a Niki fan...my biggest problem with Niki, DL and the kid is that I still can't figure how they really factor into the overall storyline...we know Claire, Hiro, the Petrellis and Isaac are all connected to the explosion...we know Matt is connected to the hunt for Sylar...where exactly does Niki and DL come into play? The only thing we know based on the previews is that DL and Hiro meet up in the next episode.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2006 So...is Niki dead or what? I personally have no problem with Niki. I thought her acting was horrible until I saw that she was going over the top vunerable to show the polor opposite of herself. Pulls it off well too. The episode worked well for me. nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2006 PK, I'd watch it on nbc.com if I were you. I ended up taping it and watching it after the Pats game, but in retrospect should have just watched it online at my leisure instead of trying to watch it after a night of football & drinking. If you choose to skip this episode, you'll be able to catch up with the 'scenes from last week's episode' that leads into each new episode, but if you get the chance to see it, I'd say see it. I personally dug last night's episode. Good development on the cheerleader ... and I don't mean plot-wise, I mean that exceptional downblouse - while she was eating the cupcake and chatting with her mother - showed that she had developed well. Even besides that, though, I definitely liked last night's episode. The Niki stuff is pretty 'meh' but I like where her character might go. The fight between her & DL was unexpected, and kept me entertained. The Hiro & Sano (or whatever the friend's name is) was minimal, but was definitely entertaining. And if nothing else, the fact that the Petrelli Bros were kept to a bare minimum made me happy. I couldn't give less of a crap about them right now.
EricMM 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2006 Hiro and Ando are always quality. Although she is lookin better weekly, personally I have always been much more fond of the chick who was running with the Indian guy. A possible heel turn? NOOOOO! nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2006 Oh, yeah, Eric, I <3 the newly turned heel girl, too. She's no cheerleader, though. I wish Claire took a heel turn. Because nothing's hotter than a dirty, naughty cheerleader.

You know, when I was watching that scene, I actually thought to myself, I wonder who will comment first, niskie or Vyce. Way to come through in the clutch. I thought it was an enjoyable episode last night, even though I basically figured out that Niki fucked over her husband as soon as he mentioned it. I liked Hiro being so upset over the guys dying as it shows how much he wants to be a hero (ugh, they needed a better name for him, I feel like a douche typing that). Also, how excited he was over having a sword was great too.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2006 (edited) Watching it now. Hey, the guy playing D.L. is the same one who played one of those college military guys on Buffy, isn't it? "You guys go to the bathroom together?" "Yes, that's how we roll." That was actually a pretty good episode. Niki's story finally went somewhere at least (though we still don't know where she fits in the whole "NYC gets blowed up" story) Edited October 31, 2006 by KingPK

A possible heel turn? NOOOOO! I think we all knew that she was in cahoots with someone. Being connected to HRG makes sense, and it probably means that they worry about Sylar is genuine. That was actually a pretty good episode. Niki's story finally went somewhere at least (though we still don't know where she fits in the whole "NYC gets blowed up" story) Well, DL and Micah appear to hook up with Hiro and Ando, so Niki is probably gonna tail them all the way to Odessa.
