wow. I remember I used to intern for Fox Sports detroit back in 03, I was actually sitting there taping the last game where they just avoided the worst record ever. Its just so awesome to see em kicking some ass, even if they dont win the series.

What we all just saw was greatness. It just has that "important moment in sports" feeling to it. No matter what happens the rest of this game and series.

God damn it, Zumaya is the most terrifying thing out there. I would hate to be the guy who has to step up against him in a clutch situation.

lowly, pathetic, lucky to be here Tigres

THEY WON NINETY-FIVE GAMES

Don't tell that to any announcers, they make it sound like the Tigers should feel blessed to be taking on the Yankees.

That doesn't matter in New Yawk. Most fans would have had you believe the Yankees were playing the Devil Rays' A affiliate. I'm telling you, people were calling up WFAN and asking what day the parade was scheduled for so they could be sure to take the day off to celebrate. Almost every Yankees fan I know personally was already counting this year as # 27 before the postseason even started. Granted, I didn't have high expectations for Detroit, but at the same time no other team's fans are that arrogant. Hell, the Mets are up 2-0 and I still don't know if we'll get by LA.

Yeah, I don't get people at all.

The Tigers had the best ERA in the AL, yet people said their pitching wasn't strong enough. The common wisdom is that pitching wins, yet everyone slept on the Tigers.

In addition, the Yankees have one or at most two good startes. (Wang and Mussina) The rest of their rotation is crap. Total crap.

This Tiger team is very similar to the Sox last year - you know those guys that won the WS. Good pitching that is pretty consistent throughout the rotation and enough hitting.

Edit: Every year people say that the Yankees lineup is incredible, and every year they lose. For some reason the Yankees GM, as well as people in this thread, seem to think that neglecting pitching while stockpiling more bats works.

Hey just wait until the ALCS if the Tigers win and we'll get constant yammerings about how the A's/Tigers is a battle of "Cinderella teams" and that they "weren't supposed to get here" like they are a couple of 16 seeds making it to the Final Four.

All this talk about Yankees fans reminds me of that Post-Season Baseball commercial where they are going around getting fans of the other teams out of hiding to watch the game.

"This time isn't about crying for the Sox, it's about rooting against the Yankees."

:D

I am having too much fun with this right now....The Yankees look shook as hell. Now I have a tough choice... Game 4 tomorrow for 50 dollars or Michigan-MSU. I am so happy right now

Well I called it and I was right about Kenny Rogers pitching a gem tonight against the Yankees. The Yankees have officially turned into the new Atlanta Braves. I want to personally say goodbye to Sheffield and Mussina who will both not be back next year. Hopefully Arod and Randy Johnson can join them and get the hell out of the Bronx because they are unwelcomed. Great game by the Tigers.

Game 4. No contest. I love U of M, but the Tigers making the Post-Season AND possibly beating the Yankees to advance to the ALCS is a rare moment.

The most confident person on the Yankees winning it all was you. Please don't throw it all on us.

Second, Kenny Rogers, jeez. Great outing. And our season falls on Jaret Wright. Go Jaret.

I'm officially on the Tigers bandwagon this year. That crowd was magnificent.

Detroit was always, deep down, a Baseball town. I mean, I'm a Wings fan and I've been to three times as many Tigers games than Wings. We've just been in hiding after having one of the most laughable teams in baseball for so long.

Верьте!

If Bernie plays tommorow it will be the last game he plays as a Yankees. It's a shame a champion like himself has to go down in defeat with a bunch of losers who show no heart.

No offense, but Bernie is limping into Clemens territory w/r/t retirements.

Oh, and I'd prefer to think of Detroit as a hockey town first and foremost, because God, some city in this godforsaken country has to be. Besides, you can say "x is really a y town" whenever a team stops sucking. They're doing it right now with the Bears, they'll do it with the Knicks.

New York IS a basketball town. We just don't have a professional basketball team these days. The games at Rucker and West 4th St are of higher quality than those scrimmages taking place at MSG.
