This was a great topic last year:

I'll get the ball rolling with an obvious one, and a not-so-obvious one that I think many will agree with:

- Triple H would not hold the ANY title in 2006.

- The best promos all year would come from three guys who are essentially all retired, and all over 40: Take your pick of any Flair/Foley promo, and Michael Hayes during The Cutting Edge last January.

Big Show would "retire"

CM Punk would join the main WWE roster and team with D-X at a major PPV

Jamal would come back and be unstoppable

Kane would re-join the Undertaker for the 100th time

Lashley would be a World champion

Finlay would return and be the man on SmackDown

Edge would actually hold a world title.

RVD would actually hold a world title.

Cena can stop the near 90% hostile reaction, just keep him working with Edge or KFed

Kevin F*cking Federline might just end up as the greatest ever automatic heel in the history of this business, its a pity Trish aint still there cos a heel turned Trish with him would have been Money in the bank

Kurt Angle would NOT retire or work for the Fed

Despite being King of the Indies CM Punk would receive a damn fine push in the WWE

-That Jeff Hardy would return, be the IC Champion *twice* and reunite with Matt.

-That the HBK would have a feud with Vince McMahon and would be part of DX 8 years after he left it (and that it would last longer than 2 months).

-That Triple H would become a good guy again and actually be over with people.

Finlay would return and be the man on SmackDown

That's the most surprising to me. I never watched him when he was in WCW. But he is really entertaining now. He's the highlight of Smackdown.

Adding to the topic: that not only would Finlay be sidelined with a midget sidekick, but he'd actually make it work.

Trish Stratus and Lita would both be retired, and announce their retirements on TV before leaving.

Gregory Helms having a very lengthy Cruiserweight Title reign (by today's standards).

CM Punk actually getting over with the ECW crowds.

Umaga being in the WWE title picture on RAW.

Lashley not only being a champion, but the ECW Champion.

RVD holding TWO World Title at the same time (but not for long).

MNM breaking up and then reforming for an ECW PPV.

JBL would retire from the ring.

William Regal and a returning Dave Taylor reforming the Blue Bloods (but without the name).

(I didn't realize Kurt Angle has been with four "promotions" this year....that's really bizarre, but it kind of proves what he said about WWE making him the de facto "utility man".)

WWE would create an ECW brand.

Finlay, Jeff Hardy, and Sabu would all (re)join WWE and have varying degrees of success.

DX and the Hardy Boyz would be re-united.

UT would job clean twice on ppv, once in a total squash.

RVD would hold 2 main titles at the same time.

ROH guys like Kendrick, London, and Punk would be pushed as serious threats.

Dave F'n Taylor would return to the ring.

That SD would be the best wrestling show on tv despite losing Benoit, Angle, Mysterio, JBL, Orton, MNM and Batista over the course of the year for months at a time.

Randy Orton wouldn't hold a world title.

Ditto Triple H.

RVD would fuck up after finally being given the ball in just about the biggest way possible.

Edge would win the tag titles with ANOTHER random partner.

Edge would manage to carry a dramatic and entertaining TLC match with a broken-down Ric Flair.

Another one I forgot:

- That HBK would come back to Montreal, wrestle in the main event and actually get *cheered* while being there.

I'll just have to repeat one:

- Jeff Hardy would be back on Raw, and I would actually be looking forward to seeing him perform week-in and week-out. IMO, he is easily the most improved WWE wrestler of the year, and has really had one of the best comebacks of the year.

To me the only thing shocking about Hulk Hogan was that the guy who tore his Meniscus WASN'T Kevin Nash, being shocked that Hogan returned or that Foley has is head up McMahons arse when he had the opportunity to MAKE samoa Joe, instead of the circle jerk with Ric Flair, is NOT shocking.

I honestly believe that Foley's work with Edge has scrubbed clean the crap that the association with Shawn Michaels gave him last year, hell if he could stay as far away as possible from either member of DX he might be regarded as a main eventer by the populus.
