Jingus 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2007 Show up in a Benoit t-shirt. Tell them it's the only shirt you have and you have no money. Maybe they'll give you a new t-shirt to cover it with. Actually, that could work. Back in the days of the Monday Nite Wars, if you showed up to a WWF event in a WCW t-shirt or vice-versa, they'd usually give you a hometown shirt to wear over it. Of course, that was then, this is now, and if you show up wearing a murderer's merchandise you might get thrown out or just severely beaten.

DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2007 They used to say that if you showed up in camera range for a TV taping wearing a scratch logo, they had to give you a new shirt. OT, I like the monthly concept of General Discussion. I think it should extend to all forums (I'm looking at you, bloated Movies CTDWAT thread).

Guest shrevedude Report post Posted June 28, 2007 There is no question that after the events of the last few days,.we wrestling fans have experienced a rush of sad, angry, and somewhat peculiar feelings. We have experienced feelings of shock. We have experienced feelings of devastation. Most of all, we have experienced feelings of disbelief. However, Mr. McMahon said it best at the opening of ECW on Sci-Fi Tuesday night when he said "Tonight marks the first step in the healing process". Now, we move on to the second step in the healing process. This is a time that all of us, fans, wrestlers, employees, crew members, alike, to band together and help each other cope with our feelings. The best way we can cope with this is, first of all, is to try our hardest to put the events of this week behind us. Then, we need to focus on why we love this business. We, the fans need to focus on why we spend our hard-earned money to come to these showx. We, the fans, need to focus on why we turn on USA every Monday night, Sci-Fi every Tuesday night, UPN every Friday night, and TNA every Thursday night to see our favorite wrestlers in action. The wrestlers, whether if they are in the big time in WWE, or a new indy wrestler trying to get noticed, need to focus on why they love the business enough to put their bodies on the line every night to entertain the fans who come to see the events. Like Bret Hart said on MSNBC, this is going to take a long time for the industry to get over this. It will certainly take time, but the only thing we can do is keep going forward, and continue to take the steps toward getting over this. I know in my heart that we can and will. AntiLeaf33 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2007 When it comes to shirts it's not very often the WWE gets it right. I do like Edge's shirts though; probably cause they don't look like wrestling shirts. Anyways, I ended up buying Edge's Crude, Lewd and Tattooed t-shirt at a house show a few months back. I like it, and not 1 person has asked or made any comment about it being a "wrestling shirt"

That's the secret: you can't just slap a picture of the wrestler and a catchphrase on a shirt and expect people to buy it. Most of them look like shit and I'd be embarrassed to wear them in public. How can this company with all their resources still fail to create good t-shirts? edit: fixed link. It's funny, because it's obvious by both his name and the whole sXe thing about his character (not just his personal life) that he's into hardcore punk. That just goes without saying. They should take a look at shirts for hardcore punk bands and go "okay...now replace this band logo with the words 'CM PUNK,' replace this grainy black & white picture with one of him," and then maybe change the tour dates on the back to dates of his victories thus far in the company. Fuck, I think I could come up with a better CM Punk shirt just ripping off a Hatebreed shirt, or even the classic Crimson Ghost Misfits shirt (I think that'd actually be pretty cool). A simple black tee, white silhouette of Punk's face and the arms doing the X, voila: CM Punk merch. ...for what it's worth, the second shirt is the least awful. Jingus 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2007 Those shirts look more like Diamond Dallas Page's arm tattoos than anything else. I voted for #3, because it's the ugliest, and I hate Punk so I want him to get stuck with that one.
veseo 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2007 Actually, I find the third one least awful. The first one simply sucks, the second one is a ornate (in the bad meaning, dunno a better word) version of the first one and the third one has something interesting in it. Not that it's not ornate too... Anyone heard something of Paul Burchill? He lost a "Title vs House vs Car" match two weeks ago, so kayfabe-wise he doesn't have a house in the city OVW is located, plus he didn't take any part in last Friday's show. Is he being brought to SD/ECW soon? Edit: Dammit, he got the title back two days ago Seems he's not out of storyline.
cameron chaos 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2007 I found out today the reason MVP has to wear that bodysuit is because he has a very large tattoo of Malcolm X on his left pectoral. Did they note it in the commentary at all? If it's already been shown on TV I don't know why they'd make him keep the bodysuit then. It's bad enough he does that stupid dance. Jingus 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2007 Because it's Malcolm X, one of the most controversial and polarizing figures of the past century, and the WWE is run entirely by old white people. (Also, MVP's a muslim in real life, he converted in prison, so they might REALLY want to downplay that aspect of him.)
