The only thing missing from the match was the announcer doing the time limit countdown like "5 minute remain...."

The last two minutes would have been better if the time limit caused Punk to lose. After hitting the G2S, Punk could have just sat there for 10 seconds and still won.

I mentioned it in last week's thread, but having Punk win tonight was stupid booking. They flat out had a way to do this and make Punk look good by lasting the 15 minutes, then he gets the title shot. Why book him to pin Morrison with 5 seconds left? What exactly are we supposed to tune into SS now to see with these two?

It's not like the PPV is this Sunday. Morrison will get his payback. Morrison could also say it took Punk 14min and 5 seconds to beat him.

If it was a classic NWA/WCW match from the 80's the finish would of been Morrison kicking out at the last second as the ref goes for the 3 count with CM Punk and the fans on their feet thinking he got the win. Then of course Morrison would proceed to beat him down with his boot or chair or a belt shot then lay Punk out flat leaving the belt in front of him and saying he's never going to win it.....

I think he's referring to the fact that WWE matches usually don't go too long unless it's the main event of a PPV.

CM Punk is not of the WWE factory system and was a somebody before he joined the company so he is above and beyond most on the ECW roster.

Morrison standing around pointing at the clock to mess with CM punks head (and grabbing his head and making him look at the clock), Morrison using rest holds to keep Punk grounded instead of his usual offense, Tazz and Joey saying it was a survive or get the win match, then saying Punk should hurry up and get the pin before the time ran out...it just made no sense.

 

It should have been Punk had 15 minutes to beat Morrison, although that is stupid too. he is the champion. They shouldn't be able to beat him at all.

 

Just didn't make the slightest bit of sense.

I think the story they were trying to get across (but failed miserably doing so) was that if Punk couldn't beat Morrison in 15 minutes, he probably couldn't beat him at all, since Punk had lost in every single match the two have been in for the ECW title. Though that requires us to forget that Punk has beaten Morrison in the past.

The recap on WWE.com makes it seem like Punk needed to defeat Morrison in the fifteen minutes to win the challenge. Perhaps Styles and Tazz were mistaken in their perception of the rules?

 

The way the rules were built up by Styles and Tazz, I figured the most likely finish would be Punk in control and nearly beating him before the time limit expired. That would build to a twenty or twenty-five minute match at SummerSlam.
