Levels you hate in game you love

Recommended Posts

The shape memory alloy key card puzzle in MGS. Who thought this would be fun? It's so boring. You're doing nothing but back tracking to an area you just got past and then standing around. All for nothing but a story point that didn't even matter.

I agree with Lushus on the underwater level in TMNT. Fuck that level hard.

The difficulty for that level is way overrated.

It's not so much difficult as it is annoying. Barely graze the seaweed and you're toast.

I know True Crime: Streets of LA wasn't exactly the greatest game of all time (I did like it though), but the damn "Tail the suspect" levels were SO GODDAMN boring and went on FOREVER.

But like I said, I did enjoy the game though.

I played through Max Payne a few times, and while it is great, the nightmare levels are unforgivable. I almost had a heart attack when they were back in the sequel, but thankfully they were easy.

Also, the midget's castle in RE4 is the only time I ever get bored. It's not bad, just where the pace slows a bit.

Oh HELL yeah, I should've thought of those myself. Absolutely pointless, brutally boring, needlessly difficult bullshit to clutter up an otherwise good game. Thank god they did indeed cut way back on them in the sequel, making them fairly short and inoffensive.

I remember my mom taking away my nintendo because i started to cry playing one of the Mega Man games ( I was like probably 6 or so)

Winning the WWF title at Summerslam on Wrestlemania 2000 had me wanting to throw my damn 64 right out of the window

I also know i have thrown a few full gorwn man fits playing San Andreas

SvsR 2007 on the hardest difficulty always pissed me off due to the reversals from hell. Specifically vs Kurt Angle in an Ultimate Submissions match.

Technically it's a level. A level of difficulty.

I didn't mind the water level in the original TMNT. The next level however, when you,re in the city with the Turtlewagon, that kicked my ass every time.

I absolutely hate the fact that you have to beat every boss in unknown chambers before you get to Dr. Wily in the old Mega Man games.

When you have to do a ton of backtracking or switching items in menus (ie.: the Water Temple in OoT, not that hard of a dungeon but annoying)

I don't mind so much Labyrinth Zone in Sonic, but I loathe Sandopolis act 2 with the ghosts in Sonic & Knuckles

I didn't like World 7 in the original Super Mario Bros with all the Bullet Bills, now it's one of my favorite.

That's all I can think of now.

Agreed, and wanted to also remind you of Carnival Night Act 2. It's not so much hard but so friggin' long you could actually be doing well and run out of time.

Lots of people complained aabout the vertical barrel section, but I figured that out right away. It's just getting to the end and time-overing right at the boss that sucks.

Fighting against Sagat on Street Fighter II: Special Champ Edition on a hard setting broke many a Mega Drive pad.

Agreed. While they were creepy as shit they should have made them shorter and easier to navigate through. Not damn mazes and narrow ledges that you can't even see.

I also didn't like the near the end part of Metal Gear Solid, where it seems like you're running up stairs gunning forever

aye!

I didn't like any of the sniper parts either and I usually love sniper portions in games. I understand they were shooting for some realism, but having to shoot up on drugs a billion times before getting a hit really sucked.

Oh, pretty much any level on UN Squadron. I still to this day have yet to beat that game. IMO, it's the hardest game ever made.

Look it up, try it out. It's for the SNES.

Halo. The Library. So repetitive. Shoot, hide and recharge, shoot, hide and recharge...

Totally agree with NCAA Football 08 recruiting. I used to enjoy it but it became so much work that it took away from playing the game.

the one in Mario 64 was often times frustrating.

That damn star on that big ass eel's tail

I still say I'd have terds floating to the top of the water if I ever saw an eel that big

The final stage in like the first four Mega Man X games used to piss me off. I think the only time I ever beat Sigma was x2.

In Victorious Boxers for ps2 beating Eiji Date is a fucking bitch.

Facing HHH in WrestleMania 2000

That Fucker reverses everything...

The first few times I was getting pedigreed in less than 5 minutes.

When I finally beat him on like the 20th try...it wasnt even with a finishing move

It was either a roll up reversal or made him tap to a chinlock..

You know how those old N64 aki/thq games were...LOL

Triple H in WM 2000 was hell. Often gave up once I had to face him.

The underwater part of TMNT was such a pain in the ass.

Wasn't a fan of the UV gun on the truck thing in Gears of War. Took away from the experience of the rest of the game.

The first obstacle course of Battletoads was brutal. I swear I could hear the game laughing at me after a while.

In Red Dead Revolver, when you reach the Governor's mansion and you have to hold off the swarms and swarms of soldiers whle buying the british guy enough time to pick the lock to get inside.

Same game, when you play the role of the Mexican general and you're CONSTANTLY being bombarded by cannons.

I love that game, btw.

second the sand anreas flying missions especially the radio controlled mini planes part. Also the porn studio mission from vice city where you have to drop all the porn flyers over the city, took me at least 35-40 tries to do it. also the part where you have to race Hillary to convince him to join in your heist with Phil. gets really hard when the cops start to chase you hardcore

the final chase part of the end of san adreas, is tricky to master at first as well

any race from simpsons: hit and run sucks

I don't like timed missions in general

the tester challenge from sd vs raw 07 (mickie vs khali) very hard to beat, finally did it on a fluke once after like 80 tries in a row.

I always had trouble with handicap matches on No Mercy. I tried more than a few tactics, but it seems like once you get taken down, you're easy prey.

Quick Man's stage in Mega Man II always drove me batty. FUCKING BEAMS STOP HITTING ME!! I always refused to use the Time Stopper b/c I knew what it'd do to Quick Man, so in a way it's my own fault, but I hated that level for so long.

I hated fighting Mike Tyson (or Mr. Dream) in Punch-Out! until a few years ago. I finally beat him, but little kid Hoff yelled and cried many times fighting that asshole.
