Guest iced0352 Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 Hey Everybody. I'm conducting a board game survey for a college class. It's a really short survey and if you could fill it out, it would be greatly appreciated. Here is the link: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=x_2f...DAz6vUFIA_3d_3d Thanks!
tekcop Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Fuck, I thought this was going to be an awesome thread where we all talked about our board game experiences. Screw it, this thread sucks anyways. So... My family plays a lot of cards, but we occasionally play board games and the like, too. Our favorites are Clue and Sorry, easily. My girlfriend and I occasionally get together with friends and we switch between video games and board games. Cranium fucking rules. Scrabble is pretty great, too. Getting a million points for the word "Qat" rules.

Red Baron Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 I like Life and pretty much all of its creations, like Simpsons Life. I also like a lot of Trivia games, like Trivial Pursuit.
Black Lushus Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Phase 10 is a fun card game. Anybody remember a game called Thunder Road from the mid to late 80s? It was based on The Road Warrior. Up to 4 players get 3 cars (various size, strength and speed) and a little chopper type thig, similar to what Bruce Spence flew around in. The board consisted of 3 pieces of road that pieced together like a puzzle. When you get to the end of the road, you take the last piece and attach it to the front, creating a never ending road.
luke-o Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 I kinda like Cluedo but never win. I had this one board game when I was a kid called "Ghost Castle" which had loads of traps and shit and you could disarm them. It was so cool.
Guest Tzar Lysergic Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 I once played a 15 hour game of Risk with a head full of acid and a napoleon hat. I smoked three packs of cigarettes in that span of time. I ended up losing at a last stand in Siam, and didn't talk to anyone for a couple days.

I smoked three packs of cigarettes in that span of time. I ended up losing at a last stand in Siam, and didn't talk to anyone for a couple days. That just might be one of the most surreal posts ever. As for board games, I'm pretty tough to beat at Monopoly.
CanadianChris Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 My favourite games are a couple of little-known Canadian games called Poleconomy and Globetrotters. Of the more established games, I love Careers and Monopoly. I love Scrabble, too, but my family refuses to play against me.

My grandmother has that game when I was about ten; I had never heard of it, and to this day, I'm the only one I know who has played it. That's awesome. My friend Adriana and I are in the midst of a best-of-seven Scrabble series. The winner gets lunch, including drink, dessert, and tip, at our favourite restaurant. I thought I was pretty good, I scored in the low 200's both games so far; she's hit 300 both times.

Congrats sir on breaking the mold.
CanadianChris Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Anyone else play Crokinole? I had a crokinole board when I was quite young. It was part of one of those 50-games-in-1 kits.
AboveAverage484 Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 I play a lot of Risk now. Settlers of Cataan is another game that my friends and I used to play a lot, but many fights came about from that game so it's kind of been pushed to the back burner for now. Yes, fights, and these are post college age people I am talking about here.
CanadianGuitarist Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Anyone else play Crokinole? Remember my buddy Ian Shantz from college? Kicked my ass at crokinole second year. Haven't played since. My bro and I played it all the time as kids.

My bro and I played it all the time as kids. My grandparents have one, and as a kid I used to play Crokinole a lot. When my mom was a teenager, every friday night, her and her friends and my uncle's friends would go over to my grandparents house, drink, play crokinole and listen to music. I remember in Grade 10 in English class, my teacher Mr. Bartley (who looked like John Lennon) mentioned Crokinole. My cousin was also in my english class, and we were the only people in the class that has ever played the game. We challenged my teacher, and got schooled fairly easy by my teacher and another teacher.
St. Gabe Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 My favorite board game is probably Trivial pursuit, but though its not a traditional board game, I love apples to Apples. great drunken fun
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 I got a new Game of Life a couple years ago. Goddamn they got cheap with the board and pieces. It was awful. Anyone ever hear of a French card game called Miles Borne?
The Amazing Rando Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 The new Game Of Life: Twists And Turns is pretty fun, but coming up with strategy is almost too easy after the first time you play. And it's fun to not have to worry about paper funny money and stuff, as everything is done by a small computer. And where's the love for Stratego?
Red Baron Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Heh, Crokinole is made by a Canadian. Nice.
CanadianChris Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Anyone ever hear of a French card game called Miles Borne? You mean Mille Bornes? Fun game.
Star Ocean 3 Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 221 B Baker Street owns all. Yes. The super old board games were awesome. You got Landslide, Rich Uncle...and then there's Fireball Island, 13 Dead End Drive...
Darthtiki Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 My favorite board game is probably Trivial pursuit, but though its not a traditional board game I so own this game to the point that I've been banned from playing it with my friends. Anyone ever hear of a French card game called Miles Borne? The game always confused me, but still it was fun especially during French Class in HS And where's the love for Stratego? Now that's a game I haven't played in years....ah good times
Guest Tzar Lysergic Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 I won a game of Stratego with the Napoleon hat the very day before the Risk game I mentioned. I wore that thing a lot.
AnnieEclectic Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 These are the board games I own: Nightmare (game and expansions II and III) Atmosfear (VHS) Go (the ancient Japanese game) Clue: VCR Board Game Clue II: VCR Board Game I love VCR Board games, in fact I want to try the new DVD versions of Atmosfear and Atmosfear 2: Khufu. Probably only my fellow Canadians on here will even know what the fuck I'm talking about. -Annie
Red Baron Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 I've only heard of Atmosfear, and wanted to play it, but never knew anyone who had it. My grandparents used to have this one board game called Stock Ticker. Never understood it at all.
CanadianChris Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 My grandparents used to have this one board game called Stock Ticker. Never understood it at all. My dad and I used to spend hours playing that. It's pretty simple, actually.
