Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2008 I'm getting a real kick out of seeing the Wizards get the shit kicked out of them. Not sure exactly why since I like Jamison and Butler a lot and Arenas is a pretty entertaining character, but all that shit talking by their team combined with people actually picking the Wizards to win this series when I thought there was a snowballs chance in hell of that happening, plus all the anti-LeBron nonsense from a small but vocal group of fans (looking at you Damaretarded), it all really has me pulling for the Cavs to just stomp dudes. I mean, the Cavs beat the Wizards two years ago when Arenas was fully healthy and on top of his game and LeBron was a playoff newbie, and he ran completely roughshod on the east last year, why exactly did anyone think this Wizards team had a chance to win more than a game or two? Because of DeShawn Stevenson all of a sudden thinking he's something special? Please. DeShawn Stevenson is reminding me of Tim Thomas back when he was a Knick, mouth writing checks his ass can't cash. I sort of like Arenas because he's entertaining and fun to watch when he's on a roll, but Butler and Jamison play better without him, and he's a total ballhog, he makes it so his team can't win unless he's at his absolute best scoring. He's really better suited to be a 2 guard, he gets his assists but he's way too into dominating the ball and it takes those other guys out of the game too much. Plus he's not 100% and he's been out of the lineup most of the year, there's no way that wasn't going to mess with the chemistry of that offense. So in short, anyone picking the Wizards had no clue, and LeBron is the fucking terminator. Dude, I know the Wiz are getting the shit kicked out of them, but a bunch of people picking a #5 seed to beat a #4 seed that was playing .500 ball the past few weeks is hardly idiotic. I agree on the other stuff though; Washington's pissing me off with all this smack talk and nothing to show for it. It's idiotic to pick against LeBron this early. That's like picking Jordan to lose to the Cavs in the first round.

Maztinho 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2008 Ph yeah... dunno what I was thinking. Oh right, I've been awake for 20 hours straight off 3 hours of sleep, damn insomnia. And Utah I think can take LA, a lot of the bench guys are playing at a really high level right now.
ANKLELOCK 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2008 All the Jazz were missing was a good pure 3pt shooter. They got Korver, that was the missing piece. They're a young but experienced group. I think Sloan will get his ring sometime in the next 3-4 years if he sticks around. Great post game, great point guard, great depth, will be rested for 2nd round. I think they could maybe do it this year.

USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2008 Hey don't count out Maveri.... oh I can't do it. Yeah I am thinking Hornets take this series. I originally thought Dallas would take this series, but it looks like barring it being a game of playing out of their minds the first time out, they are not at all intimidated by the whole playoffs thing. I wouldn't be surprised if Utah went to the Conference Finals, but I just can't see it. I strongly feel like the WCF will be Los Angeles vs either San Antonio or Phoenix. Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2008 I'm thinking San Antonio-LA in the WCF. Utah has looked really good, but I can't bring myself to pick them over the Lakers yet, nobody on that team can guard Kobe and I think they've got the matchups in their favor to disrupt the Utah offense. And I won't pick against San Antonio. They could lose in any round, but as long as they're in it they're my favorite.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2008 Roy just took the words right out of my mouth. As much as I'd like to pick Utah over the Lakers, the Lakers have just matched up too well against them over the last couple years. And Kobe has had some of his biggest games in that time period against the Jazz. But I think Utah can beat anyone else, aside from the Spurs.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2008 If Game 2 of SA-PHX goes like Game 1 then that bodes very badly for the two teams in the next round, they could very well be beat up. This is an exhausting series to even watch.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2008 Thanks to the "wonderful" playoff scheduling, they will still be able to be rested. I hate that. I liked it back in the days where there was only a one game break and the only way you got a longer break was to finish your series early. I am just not ready to crown the Lakers or pick them over anyone yet. I just don't see it. And Shaq has started his "you are not a man for flopping" bitch fest. fuck him, stop charging people and you won't get called for a charge. I think 2 of his fouls were bad calls, but besides that, quit yer bitching. I haven't mentioned it, but everything I always hated about him, I still hate now. His classless dissing of his former Heat teammates and trainers, his bitching now about the non-manly flopping, and his 2 flagrant fouls a game that get called regular fouls because he is a "big guy". Fuck him. I swear, between Joe Johnson, Scott Skiles, and Shaq, I really have alot of people that I dislike being associated with my team.

So in short, anyone picking the Wizards had no clue, and LeBron is the fucking terminator. To me the deciding factor was the wizard's "defense". As in, lack of. How exactly did all did all the Wizard pickers think they were gonna slow down Lebron? All the Cavs have to do is not play shitty, just slow down the pace a bit, then let Lebron do his thing. You don't even have to be a great team to beat the Wizards. These Wizards are basically like the Vince Carter Nets. Everyone seems to overrate them because they can't imagine a team sucking with Carter/Arenas and omg Kidd and Jefferson and Haywood and Butler.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2008 I highly doubt anyone used Brendan Haywood to strengthen their argument for the Wizards. Eddie Jordan made some crucial coaching errors in that '06 series which cost them at least a chance at winning a game or two. 1. failing to use a timeout in game 5 with less than a second left 2. ignoring Damon Jones at the end of game 6, who just happened to sub into the game for the first time on the last play Add that to LeBron getting away with an obvious travel before making the game-winning basket in game 3, and that series could have gone either way. I'm not saying the Wizards definitely would have won, but let's not act like the Cavs totally bitchslapped them in that series.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2008 This is what I meant about the Pistons needing to choke the other team out. They figured that Philly was going to roll over and die after they got up by what, 19 at one point?? No, the Sixers maybe not be a great team, but they usually keep right on playing because they have absolutely nothing to lose, and the Pistons let them back into that game when they should have gone up by 25 and cruised to a 10 point win. That game was very frustrating to watch. And the Cavs blow out the Wizards by 30. The last thing you need to do is talk shit about a superstar player, and then try and shove him out of the air in a hockey goon moment, THEN get your asses kicked. Arenas is straight up crazy, and Stevenson is one step away from being out of the league altogether because he, quite frankly, sucks. Way to back up your smack, DC. Golgo 13 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2008 Denver could take the Jazz. Not that it matters since they very likely won't get that far, but they could definitely beat them in a series.

Kinda reminds me of Freddie Mitchell calling out Rodney Harrison in the Super Bowl a few years back and finishing the game with less catches than Harrison had interceptions. Ripper 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2008 Ha, Stevenson isn't anywere near being out the league. He is one of the premier periemter defenders in the league. Point is, he is too small to cover Lebron and going to get abused, but he is a amazing defender and dependable shooter. I will say he isn't good enough to be talking all that trash when he is a younger Raja Bell.

naiwf 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2008 Celtics' big improvement on D earns K.G. player of year award NEW YORK -- Boston's Kevin Garnett won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award Tuesday. He beat out Denver's Marcus Camby and Houston's Shane Battier. The 6-foot-11 forward led the Celtics with 9.2 rebounds per game. He added 18.8 points, 1.2 blocks and 1.4 steals. Garnett helped the Celtics to league-best records of 66-16 (.805) overall and 31-10 (.738) on the road. Boston held opponents to just 90.3 points (second in the NBA) after allowing 99.2 points per game a season ago. The Celtics had the biggest one-year turnaround in NBA history. Garnett received 493 points, including 90 first-place votes. Camby, who won the award last season, finished second with 178 points and Battier had 175 points. Good for him. He was my preseason pick to win the MVP and I think he would have if he hadn't missed all those games in the middle of the season. Out of all the teams in the playoffs I'd like to see Boston win just so KG could get his ring.
