OK, that's 12.

blazers_19912002_240_01.jpg

Clifford Robinson, PF/C

14.2 points (19,594, 35th all-time), 4.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, one steal, one block, .356 3PT%

1992-93 NBA Sixth Man of the Year

2-time All-Defense 2nd team (2000, 2002)

1-time All-Star (1994)

Good for 20 ppg and 6+ rebounds in his prime, along with a block or two and a steal or two. Three point assassin, and solid post defender right up until his retirement. His defense on Jermaine O'Neal was a huge factor in the Nets/Pacers series a couple years ago. Very durable player, not missing a game in his first five seasons, and played

You can never have too much scoring off of the bench.

Walter Davis

NBA Rookie of the Year (1978)

6x NBA All-Star (1978-1981, 1984 & 1987)

19,521 points scored

I'm tired and my eyes are blurry, but I didn't see this guy drafted yet. If he is, I'll fix it in the morning. I need more outside shooting and hell, that's what this guy can do and does it in spades.

Stats... shoots 3 pointers. Lots of them.

We're going for some defense, a great teammate and some veteran presence for the bench....

PJ Brown - PF/C

act_pj_brown.jpg

* NBA All-Defensive Second Team (1997, 1999, 2001)

* NBA Sportsmanship Award (2004)

* J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award (1997)

* One of 26 players in NBA history to have 8,000 points, 7,000 rebounds, 1,000 assists and 1,000 blocks.

F - Josh Smith

25jbbxj.jpg

Averaged 17 points, 3.5 assists, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks and 1.5 steals per game last year. Coming off the bench, he can put tough defense on the other other team's scoring threats and he has the ability to put the ball in the basket as well.

Not at my computer so I cannot post a pic, but I wanted to add a big who in his prime, averaged 19.5 & 10, and lead the league in fouls so he can come off the bench and foul Shaq 6 times. He won an NBA title with my coach, and is the reason why the Pistons drafted Darko.

With my 12th pick I select:

I had a pick lined up but I can't believe this dude is still available:

theus1_051229.jpg

Reggie Theus, SG

- Averaged under 18ppg only 4 times in his 13 year career

- Career averages of 18.5/3.3/6.3/1.2

- One of only 2 men in NBA history taller than 6'6 to amass over 750 assists in a season

- 2 time all-star

- All-rookie first team

- Played all 82 games in a season 8 out of his 13 NBA seasons (played 81 in another)

Umm yah, didn't really think of him but when I realized he was still on the board, I couldn't pass him up. Could score in bunches and dish the ball as well as anybody his size. Was a team player who had no problems filling whatever role was needed while still producing. Great guy that is beyond what I was hoping for in a 12th man.

Nice run of picks there. Theus was a guy I'd been considering with my final pick. I actually was going to take Josh Smith with the pick I used on Prince, but went with Prince because he's a better shooter and less TO/foul prone.

t1_odom.jpg

Has averaged 15, 9, and 4 in his career, with a block and steal.

One of my favorite players in the league because of his versatility (can play point, small forward, and power forward).

And he's representing from Queens~!

MAURICE STOKES

Super glad that he is around at this point, but I was pretty confident from the start that no one would take him. Had three monster years, making the All-NBA Second team each of his first three years before hitting his head in a playoff game in '58 and suffering brain damage. Very versatile player who could do it all on the court, he was Magic Johnson before there was a Magic Johnson. Was probably on his way to becoming one of the all-time greats before his injury.

I wanted a big man who can rebound and defend, as well as score a bit if need be:

NaterSDC.JPG

Swen Nater, C

The only player to lead the NBA and ABA in rebounding. His best years were in the ABA (two All-Star games, ABA RoY), but he had some success in the NBA as well.

I was targeting K.C. Jones but oh well...the price I pay for waiting too long for a coach. I'll come up with someone.

Ah, PERFECT. This makes me very happy that this guy fell to me:

p1.jones.jpg

G/F Eddie "The Silent Assassin" Jones

3-time All-Star

2-time All-NBA Defensive Second Team

1994-1995 Rookie Challenge MVP

1x All-NBA

Ranks 5th all time in 3-pointers made.

This was the guy, along with Nick Van Exel who I really should've taken last round instead of Glenn Robinson, who helped keep the Lakers in the playoffs and also contributed from the bench or otherwise to many other teams' success in his later years, including the Heat and the Mavs. Not to mention dude was a monster dunker as well:

I think this guy might be the last member of the NBA's 50 Greatest team. He was the 1957 rookie of the year, a 6 time all-star, 4 time all-NBA second team, and an 8 time NBA champion. But I'm not picking him as a player, I'm picking him as my coach...

heinsohn_01.jpg

Tom "Tommy" Heinsohn!

A protege of Red Auerbach, he coached the Celtics from 1970-1978, through what was initially considered a rebuilding period with the end of the Auerbach/Russell dynasty, winning two NBA titles in the process. He won a coach of the year award in 72-73, and amassed a record of 427-263 (.619), the 11th best regular season win percentage amongst coaches with at least 200 games on their resume. His teams had a .588 win percentage in the playoffs. Like Red he emphasized unselfish team basketball, defense and hustle, making him a perfect fit for my players.

He was mentioned earlier, I need a big guy, and, well, now's the best time to pick him.

Bill Cartwright.

cartwright_050427.jpg

He and stories like his are why I didn't want to pick any current young guys. He got hurt after two fantastic seasons, and by age thirty, turned into a role player. I'm picking the Bill Cartwright who nabbed 17 and 8 with the Knicks.

With my last player pick, I'm gonna take...

nba_g_okur_395.jpg

Mehmet Okur

2007 NBA All-Star

Key reserve on 2004 Pistons' championship team

I had other options but with Wallace/Eaton on my squad, I really needed another big who's more offensive-minded. Okur adds another dimension to my team by being able to stretch the opposing D past the 3-pt line. He also gives me a reliable FT shooter for end of game situations at 79% for his career. Considering that I have Walton (66%), Eaton (65%), and Wallace (the worst FT shooter in NBA history at about 42%), this really helps. I now have 4 guys that I can mix and match at power forward and center depending on the situation. I also liked this anecdote from the 2006-2007 season (from NBA.com)

Okur has been one of the most clutch players in the NBA this season, hitting 28 game-tying or leading field goals in the fourth quarter or overtime, including four-game winning shots in the final 40 seconds of games. He has also proven durable, having appeared in 231 straight games (all 213 since joining the Jazz), the fifth-longest active streak in the NBA.

And the man to coach this cast of characters will be...

bullets78team.jpg

Dick Motta

Coached 1978 NBA champion Bullets

2-time Eastern Conference champion (1978, 1979)

9th in NBA coaching victories (935)

1971 NBA Coach of the Year (with the Bulls)

1st ever coach of the Dallas Mavericks

In addition to all that, his '78 team was a main part of the reason that the phrase: "The opera ain't over 'till the fat lady sings" came about.

Need to get a big with my last pick, to fill out my bench. I'm going to go with a personal favorite here. Loved him when I was a kid, for some reason. He did a reverse jam in some game, and I thought it was the coolest thing ever, the guy nearly being seven feet tall, and all.

elden_campbell.jpg

Elden Campbell, man. Everyone loved this guy.
