Andy outsmarting Dwight in his Prius was awesome. The rest- meh. A necessary transition show, but otherwise forgettable.

I missed most of it, but yeah, seems like the best part. That and David Wallace trying to give Michael the hint that he was to leave his office, shaking his hand and opening his office door.

I enjoyed the episode, but maybe that's because of the long gap between episodes. Jesus, was there a secret writer's strike? Fox Sunday Night's have been in re-run limbo for what seems like at least 5 weeks too.

My favourite part (Wallace giving Michael the 'goodbye' handshake, then Michael sitting down to finish his meal) was already mentioned but I did like the cold opening as well.

What do you suspect the cause for the Scranton branch doing so well was? Dwight's crusade to woo Angela by selling his ass off? Dwight being happy he secretly got Angela back, and selling his ass off? That's my guess, anyway, and now that it's over that could lead into Scranton hitting a sales slump too.

There was enough funny stuff that I still enjoyed the show last night, but it was pretty forgettable overall. The stuff with Michael and David just seemed really flat to me. I thought there would be some pay off, like Michael making some ridiculous salary raise demand or something, but it was just kind of like watching two characters that were just sort of "there". Yeah, the part where Michael was supposed to leave was funny, but I thought we'd get more than that.

Also, how does Jim get away with letting two employees almost come to blows when he is in charge? Seemed to be overly passive, even for him.

I liked it. It wasn't one of the best episodes, but any Office is still good TV. Best part to me was Oscar questioning Dwight about him and Angela having sex in the office, with Dwight not saying anything until "Oh, I think you know..." or whatever he said.

I thought Andy creeping up on Dwight in the Prius was one of the funnier moments in the whole series. Especially with Oscar's commentary:

"That's a Prius. If he keeps it under 5mph it's silent. Wow, he deserves the win."

That was actually really, really funny..

Business incompetence and insanity aside, the Scranton sales team has always been presented as very good at their jobs. Michael's clearly a gifted salesman who's strange methods have been shown to land a number of big sales. Dwight's been shown to be the best sales man for Dunder Mifflin. Jim, though a slacker, has always been presented to us as a good salesman who the higher up see lots of potential in and who has nailed down sales when he works for them. Even Stanley was presumably a good enough salesman to warrant Karen trying to lure him away to her branch with a bigger salary.

Whereas we've kind of been shown that the rest of the company is a mess. They may not be as insane as the Scranton branch but its always struck me as a flip. Scranton's always struck me as the better salesmen, even if they're clearly the worse businessmen.

I'm kind of interested to see if this is followed up on as far as Wallace trying to figure out the key. Wallace transferring Michael to a new branch to see if whatever he does can work on a new office could be a way he went. Or Dwight following in the steps of Jim and leaving the branch to be away from Angela and try to reshape the sales team of another branch. Of course either is probably too drastic a move and I'm more expecting the status quo.

Ugh, where is my comedy goodness that was season two. If I wanted to watch a drama I'd pick one of the hundreds that are on. The show peaked during season two, was still really good during season three, and four was okay. But damn, this season has sucked, and that last episode was not funny at all.

The show was best when they kept the drama to a minimun, when you would have a couple awkward seconds between Pam and Jim. There's a reason why Seinfeld worked, it's because they never got Jerry and Elaine together. Same thing with the X-Files, it sucked as soon as Mulder and Scully got together. It's not hard, the show was built around the comedy, while being grounded with the tension between Jim and Pam. Now the comedy has been replaced by drama and the tension is gone between Jim and Pam. I don't know how they're gonna fix it. Hopefully they really shake things up, lose the relationship stuff, and go back to all comedy.

I don't buy the whole "Jim and Pam" shouldn't be together, argument. They couldn't have gotten that much more mileage out of the awkwardness between them before they started going out.

That's because Casino Night happened way too early for a show that's going to run at least 6 years. They could have gotten another year easy out of Pam becoming more discouraged about her never ending engagement while Jim was stuck playing her best friend that wanted more. What also worked really well for that second season was that, unlike a lot of episodes now, Jim/Pam was a PART of the episodes...not the point. If Casino Night had happened at the end of season 3...I think the show would be in infinitely better shape.

The show doesn't have the heart that it did, IMO. Dwight, Michael, Andy and the rest are all charicatures of people and it's much harder to connect to what's happening to them. That's what makes Jim and Pam work. They are the most normal people in a group of cartoon characters. Now they're the boring normal people in a group of cartoon characters.

Agreed.

I personally got more laughs out of this episode than any others lately. Dwight and Andy can carry an episode when they have to. Jim managed to be good in a minor role. Oscar was great.

The only part that didn't work for me was Michael. I think I'm just getting tired of the character

Yeah, people would be complaining if they had never gotten together - that the Jim and Pam relationship was 'stale' and so on.

But bps is right, they could have got an extra season if they'd moved the kiss - once that had happened they were stuck because there was only so many obstacles they could have before it got silly. But they probably couldn't have done that kiss much later than the 3rd season.

"We don't even give him full internet access."

"What?"

Oh God, Stanley.

In real life, I think he's filming his part for Inglorious Bastards.

Maybe it was just me, but I wasn't really feeling this episode. It was still good, but just not up to the usual standard. I'll say not hot as well, assuming hot is in a different league than attractive.
