Smartly Pretty Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 Albert Pujols This is a fantastic pick. 15 years from now when Pujols is elected to the HOF (or 17 or 18 years, whenever it is) I'm not so certain Stan Musial will be the best first basemen in Cards history. I mean, he probably will be, but it'll be really fucking close.
CanadianChris Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 I'm having a severe family emergency right now and have to drop out. Sorry guys.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted March 16, 2009 Author Report Posted March 16, 2009 Ok. OOG, you want to claim Johnny Bench instead of Pete Rose? And what should we do about Babe Ruth? All the best CC.
Smues Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 Ok. OOG, you want to claim Johnny Bench instead of Pete Rose? And what should we do about Babe Ruth? All the best CC. I think it'd actually be interesting to keep him out of the league. Otherwise do a random draw or something.
the pinjockey Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 Eliminating him from the draft pool seems most fair.
Cheech Tremendous Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 I'm having a severe family emergency right now and have to drop out. Sorry guys. Hope everything is okay, CC. Best wishes.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted March 17, 2009 Author Report Posted March 17, 2009 Not only was Walter Johnson taken, that picture is obviously not Johnson.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Good pick, was hoping he would drop to me in the next round.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Ok. OOG, you want to claim Johnny Bench instead of Pete Rose? Yah I'll claim Bench. I only missed him by 30 seconds so now all is right. Rose is back on the market.
Youth N Asia Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Good pick, was hoping he would drop to me in the next round. You and me both
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted March 17, 2009 Author Report Posted March 17, 2009 Ok, here is where we stand. JHawk needs to make up a pick yet. I think I am going to make replacement selections for CanadianChris and fill out his roster. Any objections to that? He can come back and resume his team if circumstances allow, or another poster may jump in and take the team. As for myself, I am taking OF Tris Speaker. There will be another draft starting tomorrow for venues and managers.
Gert T Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 With my 3rd pick I select: Roberto Clemente
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted March 17, 2009 Author Report Posted March 17, 2009 On second thought, I'm going to go with others' suggestions of leaving Babe Ruth out of the pool for the time being, and doing nothing else with CC's rosters.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 al, how are we taking into account peak vs longevity? Usually it doesn't make too much of a difference but, for a certain pitcher, it means the difference between being worthy of a top 3 rotation spot and not getting drafted at all. I won't name-drop but I'm sure you know who I mean.
Agent of Oblivion Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Since he's back out on the market, I'm taking Pete Rose

I won't name-drop but I'm sure you know who I mean. Peak, as long as it lasted long enough to erase any doubts as to whether or not it was a fluke. A pitcher who had one great season, could he repeat that in this kind of league? And I have a guess as to who you mean, but there are a LOT of pitchers who fall under that category.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted March 17, 2009 Author Report Posted March 17, 2009 Fokai has agreed to join us. He will take CanadianChris's spot, and inherit Babe Ruth on his roster. He can make his second and third round picks at any time.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Dammit, I kinda hoped Rose would still slide to me. Instead I'll continue building the best in-field possible with a real legend: Cal Ripken Jr.
Youth N Asia Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Right Field, 15x all-star, 10x golden glove winner Al Kaline
Smartly Pretty Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 I pick Pedro Martinez. My rotation is looking pretty badass.
