Bret Hart/Mania. possible Benoit WM plans
bob_barron replied to The Ghost of bps21's topic in The WWE Folder
Brian- Can you shorten your sig? It stretches the page. -
Don't forget ROH on March 13th. Sounds like a great show for TNA though. Will they be doing this every month??

Royal Rumble 2002- It has a great Jericho v. Rock title match and a good Rumble. Vince v. Flair is fun to watch and Edge v. Regal is a major mark out moment for me. No Way Out 2002- Not much to see here. I liked this more then most people did but there really isn't much to see. Wrestlemania X-8 Hogan v. Rock is a must see. HHH v. Y2J and Flair v. Taker are both good matches while the rest of the card is in the **ish range. Backlash- Edge v. Angle is excellent and Tajiri v. Kidman is really good too. Eddy v. RVD is good but a bit flat. The rest is awful. Judgement Day- JD is a another mixed bag. RVD v. Eddy and Angle v. Edge once again are good matches. I really enjoyed the HIAC match even though a lot of people hate it just for the ending. The rest sucks. KOTR- An awful, awful, awful show. Jericho v. RVD is the one good match. Hogan tapping to the anklelock is nice and all but the match is horrible. Flair v. Eddy is 20 minutes of boredom. Watching Eddy dog it is not pretty. Vengeance- An interesting show. Jericho jobs to Cena, Benoit/Eddy job to the Dudleyz and Regal jobs to Jeff freaking Hardy. The main event kicks ass and the show overall is fun to watch. Summerslam- The best PPV of 2002 bar none. HHH v. HBK, RVD v. Benoit, Eddy v. Edge, Angle v. Rey are all fun to watch. UnAmericans v. BookDust is dissapointing but the show as a whole is great. Unforgiven- A two match show. Eddy v. Edge and Benoit v. Angle are both MOTYC. The 8-man tag is fun to watch and Jericho v. Flair is good but way too short. The two title matches both left a sour taste in my mouth. No Mercy- Angle/Benoit v. Rey/Edge is many people's picks for WWE MOTY and I can't say I disagree. Brock v. Taker is a really good bloody brawl. Survivor Series- I was there so I'm biased. The Elimination Chamber is a good but flawed match. Brock v. Big Show is a must see just for the insane love the crowd gives Lesnar. The rest of the show is pretty good- nothing sucks. Armageddon- A snoozer of a show. HHH v. HBK is beyond boring. Eddy v. Benoit is good but there's nothing else to see. The DVD contains Angle v. Edge v. Eddy v. Angle from SD! which is a great match. I'll do 2003 in a second. Overall I'd rank them- 1. Summerslam 2. Royal Rumble 3. Wrestlemania X-8 4. Survivor Series 5. Unforgiven 6. Judgement Day 7. Vengeance 8. Backlash 9. No Mercy 10. Armageddon 11. No Way Out 12. King of the Ring

Jericho v. Rock fought at 3 PPVs and feuded for a while. Never faced off at WM
-
HHH/Taker wrestled at WrestleMania X-7. Might want to change that Look above NY Untouchable. Already corrected and I didn't need to use that horrible emoticon to do it. Austin v. McMahon never happened at WM either
-
I think you mean Austin v. Taker 'Sault. How about Austin v. Angle as a match that never happened at WM?
-
I'm sure they considered it but Piper's refusal to job to anyone probably put the kibosh on it.

Well looking at a little more recient time..... Survivor Series 02' Elimination Chamber. That was a HUGE pop for HBK. I'm not sure if it was for his win or they were happy it was over :-D DFA The crowd would've popped for anyone but HHH (or Kane really) winning that night. RVD and Booker T both got huge pops. I remember a lot of the guys were going for HHH at the end. (Our section was chanting Triple H) HBK winning at Wrestlemania would be beyond stupid. The guy had two chances to win the title and choked both times. The first one was totally his fault. Benoit could win the title at Wrestlemania and since Shawn beat him on RAW there's a logical reason to grant him a title shot.

Does Yokozuna's Banzai Drop count? If not, then yeah...Savage's elbow drop. It was asked "top rope". Thus the last time was probably Savage. Although for some reason, I keep thinking Michaels (I know he didn't, but I keep thinking it). Michaels won Wrestlemania XII, RR 97 and Survivor Series 2002 with Sweet Chin Music. You know how he won the other one.
-
Savage won at WMIV with the elbowdrop. He won at WMVIII with a rollup

This movie would definetley sell. Tons of people watch the show whether it be on HBO (Where it does great ratings) or on DVD (where it sells very well) Depends on what they do. The problem is that I really don't see what Miranda could do. If the movie is 90 minutes of Carrie struggling with Big/Commy/whomever then yes- it will be quite boring. While I do take issue with how they've handled some of the chararacters recently (Give Charlotte a baby. Get Carrie the fuck out of Paris) the show has still been quite strong. In fact- Out of the Frying Pan (which aired just a few weeks ago) is one of the best episodes of the show I've seen. As long as the movie isn't Carrie-centric it should be fine.

treble charged seemed to like it. The skit just didn't do it for me at all. I muttered: What the hell was that and moved on. I was very excited to see SNL spoof one of my favourite bands...and then they screwed it up. I had never heard of her until SNL but I just remember people telling me how awful 'Milkshake' was. Bringing Ferrell back for a debate would be cool but then you're just setting up the guy who has to do Bush after the election (Assuming he wins) for failure. I wouldn't mind seeing Forte as Bush. He really couldn't be much worse then Darrell or Parnell. Still don't know why Jeff was fired. I'm probably seeing the cast on Saturday so I may ask. He hasn't updated his site at all which is kinda weird. I heard he did a Bush impression as well which makes his firing all the more strange.
-
I don't remember who Flair did it too but he ballshots someone in RR 92, the crowd goes 'Ohhhhhhhhhhhh' and Gorilla says all slowly and sternly: Did you see that? Jericho is about to get Pedigreed on a chair. HHH stops to shove the ref so Jericho seizes the opportunity and just NAILS him in the balls. Great spot
-
It's Maroon 5. I heard one of their songs on the radio and I thought it was a good listen so hopefully they will break the bad mg streak. With Octane- I've never seen Fast and the Furious and it's various knockoffs so all of the jokes were lost on me I guess. ::marks out for exclamation DUD::

I don't know if I can handle seeing Maddux in a Yankees hat. I almost vomited seeing Glavine in a Mets cap. Maddux is my favourite baseball player ever. I can't bare to see him sign with the team I hate so much
-
FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK This can't happen. This just can't happen. Go to the Cubs Maddux. Go to the Cubs. Don't do this to me

I got all sad and teary at the beginning. Charlotte adopting doesn't exactly warm my heart but whatever gets her a baby. She really should get pregnant though. I mean- throw me a freaking bone. It's funny watching Carrie in Paris and realising how right Miranda was. She'll come back soon. Oh and GO BIG GO. That's so awesome that he's gonna go after her. I still don't think they should end up together since deep down Big is still Big. Carrie should end up alone but become good friends with Big. Oh and she should be in New York. Not Paris. So moving to Paris cost Carrie: Her column, her apartment and her Carrie necklace. 0-3.

Damnit,Kanyon Has A 90 Day No Compete Clause

I think it's that the wrestler will be released after 90 days. So Kanyon will still be getting paid his downside guarantee -
I used to have trouble telling the difference between Jeff Richards and Seth Meyers. Now I know. Seth is the one who is gainfully employed. Jeff is the one who got his ass fired. Sports Report- Leafs- Eddie Belfour needs to come back now. Trevor Kidd is awful and the Leafs are suffering with him in the net. That game against Buffalo was disgusting. Nothing makes me madder then blow 3 goal leads at home. But Eddie come back! Canucks- The division is slipping further and further away and I am not happy about it. They need to catch Colorado so they can home ice throughout the playoffs. The fact that they’ve lost to such poor teams and the fact that they have played like they don’t care really pisses me off. Things better improve soon. The Canucks cannot afford to play like this. The 2003 Stanley Cup Champion New Jersey Devils- Not a good week for the Stanley Cup Champs. A rare loss to the Rangers and a costly loss against the Flyers do not a happy hockey fan make. At least they fell to the 6th seed which is the seed you want in the Eastern Conference due to the overall suckiness of the Southeast Division. Nets- The Nets have won 10 games in a row. Every game they have won has been by 10+ points. Byron Who? Mailbag!!!!!!!!!!!!- Hey Bob- Big Fan. Sundays aren't the same without reading a Bob Barron review, anyways, I have a simple question for you: In your opinion, what is the best SNL duo, there ever was? And out of the current Cast who would you say? Personally, I'm a Seth/Amy fan, but Fred/Will also have potential. Thanks a lot! Dan Fuitt Why thank you Dan. I think it sucks that I can’t get my reviews up on Sunday anymore as writing them on Monday in between class is a pain in the ass. But I do try to get them ASAP. Best SNL Duo is a good question. I’m gonna go OLD SCHOOL and say Aykroyd and Belushi. They worked so well together and I love the Blues Brothers. I’m a big Seth and Amy fan as well. With skits like Home Pregnancy, Lil’ Sleuths, Spy Glass and the Peter Pan Complex Skit they always seem to bring out the best in each other. Wanna be in the mailbag???? Email me at [email protected] The Sex and the City finale airs February 22nd and I suggest you all watch it. It’s a show I love almost as much as SNL. I’ll probably do some sort of retrospective in one of my March reviews. (Guys- you can skip that one) And now the review… Cold Opening Cast- Darrell Hammond, Amy Poehler, Seth Meyers Thoughts- I’m so happy John Kerry is kicking ass because this will mean lots of airtime for Seth which I whole-heartedly approve of. It’s always nice to see Darrell bring back his Gore impression. Poor Al. He ditched his boy for Howard Dean and then watched as Howard Dean fell flat on his face. This was really funny as we got to see two good impressions and a lot of the lines here worked. Amy as Tipper Gore seemed a tad out of place and I didn’t like it. I also enjoyed Darrell’s enthusiastic LFNYISN. Good to see Seth given the ball with Kerry. Should make the election interesting. ***1/2 Monologue Cast- Drew Barrymore, Rachel Dratch Thoughts- I don’t know who played C3PO, Darth Vader or ET and it’s going to bother me. I figured that Darth Vader would be Adam Sandler making a cameo but it was not to be. This was not very funny. I didn’t really find the humour in people insinuating Drew was in various 70s and 80s movies. The stuff with ET and the Atkins diet was pretty funny but the rest was junk. The third bad monologue in a row. *1/2 Versace Cast- Barrymore, Maya Rudolph, Horatio Sanz, Poehler Thoughts- THEY JUST DID A VERSACE! God I hate this character. It just is not funny and never has been. The only times there were ever Versaces that I tolerated were because of other people doing funny impressions. Amy’s Madonna was good but the interplay between Versace and Elton was painful. Drew’s Courtney Love had potential but they ruined it by having her have that stupid argument with Versace. Versace is awful and the impressions just couldn’t save it. * Jarrett’s Room Cast- Barrymore, Jimmy Fallon, Sanz, Meyers Thoughts- I can’t believe they still do this skit. It’s dead. Seth as usual was the highlight of Jarrett’s Room- I love DJ Jonathan Fienstein. And yes- I’m still waiting for Jeff Jarrett to come out and El Kabong Jarrett. The skit was doing just fine until they did the dream sequence with Jimmy and Barrymore. Then it completely fell apart and never was able to recover. I actually like the interplay between Gobe and Jarrett- it’s funny and cute but once Drew came in this just fell apart fast. Not even Seth singing Hey Ya could save this. ** Access Hollywood Cast- Barrymore, Fallon Thoughts- Whoa- Captain Lou Albano came out of nowhere. You know I marked out. Jimmy’s Pat O’Brien is good but I don’t like that he constantly points out what’s supposed to be funny about the impression. I mean he has a nasal voice- you don’t have to mention that fact every few seconds. Drew as Charlize Theron was okay but got old real fast. The one thing that really picked this up for me was the 80s WWF footage. The rest was nothing special. On the Classic SNL Darrell played Captain Lou Albano. Odd. **1/2 Octane Cast- Meyers, Rudolph, Finesse Mitchell, Kenan Thompson Thoughts- What the hell was this? Seriously- what the hell was this? Kenan was funny but I did not get this at all. This show needs an enema. * Kelis Thoughts- Three problems here- 1) This sucked 2) They still haven’t changed the train sign 3) What’s a milkshake? That about covers my problems with Kelis. Hopefully next week these Maroon people will end the bad musical guest streak. It currently sits at 3. ¾* Weekend Update Cast- Fallon, Tina Fey, Rudolph, Mitchell Thoughts- Tina and Jimmy- this show needs help. Help us out. This was a excellent Weekend Update but was way too short. Seriously- did we really need the skit with that Scott Waino guy? No. That could’ve been devoted to a funny commentary (Seth!) or more jokes. The jokes were really top-notch and excellent. There wasn’t one joke that I didn’t laugh at and Tina rebounded from her off week which is good to see. The bit with Tina and Maya wasn’t great but there were a couple laughs and I enjoyed Finesse Mitchell. This was awesome but needed to be much longer to truly be a classic. **** W meets Kerry Cast- Barrymore, Parnell, Will Forte, Meyers, Hammond Thoughts- Hmmmmmmmm. I wonder if Will is the new Bush or they just needed Darrell free to do Bill Clinton. If you need a new Bush you can’t do worse then Forte. He was pretty funny as Bush and well ‘pretty funny’ destroys Darrell’s attempts at the president. Nice to see Seth getting airtime to establish his John Kerry impression. It’s always good to see Darrell’s Clinton since it’s probably the best impression he ever did. The interplay been all three was pretty funny with lots of retorts back and forth. Drew as Hillary didn’t work for me at all even though ***1/4 Larry King Cast- Barrymore, Fallon Thoughts- Damn SNL- don’t tease me like that! While Jimmy’s impression was nowhere Norm’s greatness it was still very good and quite funny. Drew did a very good impression of Anna Nicole Smith and the skit was very well written with lots of funny lines from both sides. Anna Nicole Smith is a very easy target so you might as well get her when she’s in the news. I actually saw her on Larry King Live (there was nothing else on) and this was pretty accurate. A very funny skit. Could this show be making a comeback? ***1/2 Spy Glass Cast- Barrymore, Meyers, Fallon, Poehler Thoughts- SPY GLASS!!! I love Seth. I love Amy. And I love Seth and Amy skits so of course I would love Spy Glass. The jokes were very funny and the British accents were top notch. I also enjoy Jimmy’s Pat O’Brien when he is in an English setting moreso then when he is on Access Hollywood. I don’t know why but he’s funnier in England. I didn’t much care for Drew Barrymore here as she brought it down a bit. Seth and Amy were the highlights and it was good seeing them get more airtime in a funny skit. ***3/4 The World of Scott Wanio Thoughts- Ummmmmmm what? I now do not care for Scott Wanio’s world at all. I’m kind of pissed since Tina was in two skits that got cut and in its place we get an unfunny skit about a dude and a microphone. The fact that no one noticed that he didn’t have a microphone was not that funny. Who knew? I will admit to laughing really hard when he had a shirt that said: I don’t have a microphone (or something like that) The rest of this was pretty bad. * The White Stripes Cast- Barrymore, Fallon, Parnell, Thompson Thoughts- Ahhh they blew it! I LOVE the White Stripes and I was hoping that this would be an awesome parody of one of my favourite bands. This was way too short and despite the fact that Jimmy and Drew got the impressions down pretty good they didn’t let the skit develop. I would’ve liked to have seen the White Stripes in action fighting crime or singing songs or doing something. Having them screw up bank robberies is kind of lame. Good impressions, good set up but incredibly lame execution. ** Kelis Thoughts- This song was much better then that horrible Milkshake song. It really doesn’t take me a lot to like the second performance. I’ll ask for is lots of energy and the attempt to somehow make me interested. This was also a pretty good song which is always a plus. So kudos to Kelis for almost redeeming herself for Milkshake. **1/2 Prince Cast- Barrymore, Rudolph, Armisen, Thompson Thoughts- As last skits go this was pretty good. Fred was funny as Prince and Kenan just walking in as George Clinton cracked me up. Maya as Beyonce didn’t work for me since Beyonce is remotely attractive and Maya is not. Drew was okay as Pink. Could’ve done without it but it didn’t bring down the skit or anything. **1/4 The Bottom Line- Avg. skit was **.3 making this a thumbs in the middle show. The first half of the show was terrible and it was headed towards the territory of Drew Barrymore’s last appearance on SNL and this time they wouldn’t have anthrax to blame. Weekend Update lit a fire under their asses as the show had a pretty strong finish and a bunch of good skits. The political skits were very well done and I love seeing Seth, Kenan and Amy continue to get a good amount of airtime. The show may not have been very good but it did have a lot of positives. I’m not too hopeful about Christina Agulera next week as she has never given me any indication that she’s funny. The writers will have to work really hard for her. Thumbs in the Middle

This thread is begging me for to read it and get spoiled. I'm probably going to watch the second to last episode tonight and then when I see it and I can give some big ass Sex and the Analysis. As it stands now: Carrie: Carrie moving to Paris is total bullshit and makes no sense. Carrie is her column. Carrie is all about NY. Her moving to Paris is totally out of character and makes her seem like a complete moron. The commy is a complete fuckhead towards her and is so wrong for her. It's painful to watch. I don't get how Carrie can drive Big out of her life and dump Aiden and yet fall head over heels for losers like Berger and the commy. She once broke up with a guy who said he was tired of NY! Carrie is NY. Bottom line. It seems like Carrie has noticed her friends all moving on and she's stuck writing her same old column. But that's no excuse for her to just rush off to Paris. God I hate Carrie. Samantha: I love the Samantha breast cancer storyline. Ever since she finally broke up with Richard Samantha had been given nothing to do but get laid and be filler. But she's found new life with the cancer storyline and her relationship with Smith has become very interesting. I'm very intrigued over how she will end up. I see her completely surviving the cancer but will she marry Smith? Just stay together with him? Smith hasn't really shown any flaws yet (Like Richard had) and him shaving his head for her was such a great moment. Miranda: Miranda seems to be done. She's married, has a family and lives in Brooklyn. I'm so happy they didn't dick us around and put her and Steve together. It wouldn't have been right any other way. I love Steve. I think he's the greatest guy ever. Her role seems like she'll just spend her time arguing with Carrie and getting her to come back home. It's so scary how right she was during the squabble they had. Charlotte: Everyone knows by now that I LOVE Charlotte. She was initially the reason why I watched the show and I became hooked on it because of her character. She better fucking get pregnant. She's been trying for 40 episodes now and it's getting old. Week after week they constantly tease us about her getting pregnant and then pull some stupid bait and switch that does nothing and at the end Charlotte recovers and we see she has strong maternal instincts and deserves a baby. IT'S NOT FUNNY ANYMORE. So please I beg the writers- Get that girl knocked up or else you would've made two seasons of Charlotte's life completely pointless. I think the episodes from the last half of season 6 have been good for the most part. I hated the premiere and found last week's episode to be too Carrie-centric (I hate her so much) but for the most part the episodes have been good. I have to give special props to the episode where Steve and Miranda get married and the episode where they decide to move. Those two episodes were some of the best episodes of Sex and the City I have ever seen. Oh and btw: Carrie should end up with no one but renew her friendship with Big.

Canada Condemns 'Racist' Conan O'Brien TV Show 1 hour, 49 minutes ago By David Ljunggren OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canada's government on Friday condemned a show by U.S. late-night television host Conan O'Brien that insulted people in French-speaking Quebec and seemed to suggest everyone in the province was homosexual. Ottawa and the province of Ontario paid $760,000 to help O'Brien -- who appears on the NBC television network -- bring his show to Toronto for a week to boost the city's profile after a deadly SARS (news - web sites) outbreak last year. But the federal government said O'Brien had gone far too far with the show broadcast on Thursday in which he went to Quebec, a province which has had separatist governments for much of the last 20 years and is a delicate political topic in Canada. "We want to disassociate ourselves from the comments which were broadcast last night because we do not support them in any way," junior government minister Mauril Belanger told Parliament. At one point in the show, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog -- a hand puppet that is a regular on the show -- said to a Quebecer: "You're French, you're obnoxious and you no speekay English." It told another: "I can smell your crotch from here." O'Brien's team were also shown replacing street signs in the province with those that read "Quebecqueer Street" and "Rue des Pussies." Alexa McDonough, a legislator for the left-leaning New Democrats, described the program as "racist filth" and "utterly vile" and demanded the government seek the return of the C$1 million subsidy. "There may be those who would say, 'Isn't this interfering with freedom of expression?' It's not interfering to say we will not publicly fund this kind of vile, vicious hatemongering," McDonough told reporters. Belanger did not commit to asking for the money back. No one at NBC was immediately available for comment. The complaints over the puppet's comments come on the heels of a similar uproar following criticism of European French-Canadian hockey players on CBC television by the country's best-known sports commentator, Don Cherry. The "Late Night" show, which taped in Toronto all this week and featured guests such as Jim Carrey (news) and Mike Myers (news), was broadcast in Canada by CHUM television, which said it regretted any offense that may have been caused. "We offer our apology and assurance that it is never our intention to air programing that offends any of our viewers," the station said in a statement. Triumph the Insult Comic Dog has landed in trouble before, most famously when it had an altercation with rap singer Eminem (news - web sites) at a music awards show in 2002.

I think the Wayans thing could be that he intentionally screwed up his lines so that it made no sense because he was frustrated about SNL. I haven't read Live from New York... in a long time so I could be wrong on that one. I've been to 10 SNL dress rehearsals which is how I've seen a lot of skits that have never made it to air.
