I've watched bits and pieces of this show, off and on, since the season began. I don't watch it regularly, though, because of several reasons, in particular: 1.) Friday nights aren't a great night of the week to air original programming. 2.) I really don't like any of the Stargates, so I don't care about the lead-ins. 3.) I'd rather be watching Law & Order: Trial by Jury. The show does look good, but it's gonna take a LOT for me to think it's better than Farscape. Farscape is a show that I absolutely love and adore, and this program, while good, doesn't evoke any of those same emotions. Someone spoil the final episode for me, though.

Then I suppose Bret Hart really WOULD have led the Invasion.

Frank Nabbit explains quite adequately why an Elvis biopic could work. You say people "know everything about Elvis", but they don't. Elvis was into, and did, some weird and crazy shit in his day, some of which is compelling in its absurdity. I don't know if a dramatic biopic would work, but hell, if they made one as a comedy, they could have something. How I'd love to see the "Hamburger James" story played out on the big screen.

No doubt. But, like Hogan vs. Rock at WM X8, the heat would have probably been thermonuclear.

Hey, I did. Back on page one. It was great, it had Michael Schiavo and even Judge Greer in it. But you bastards no sold it with your obsession over bad puns.

Which is, IMO, the weakest scene in the entire film. The movie is goddamn fantastic, though. I give it my highest recommendation. And quite frankly, my word is better than that of Roger Ebert's, because if any of you have paid attention to his reviews lately, he's become a more respectable version of Harry Knowles: he gives EVERYTHING a good rating. But in this case, it's deserved. Great noir, lots of good action, gore and violence. Terrific, fun performances all around, especially from Rourke and Owens. Oh, and a pretty good bit of T n' A as well. I think you all will particularly enjoy, as I did, the wonderful sight of Carla Gugino's bare tits.

No celebrity death has ever really brought a tear, but a few have bothered me. Cobain way back in the day. Owen, because, of course, I'm a wrestling geek. And his death, unlike the other 3,394 wrestling deaths we've had in the last 10 years, was so completely sudden and tragic. Recently, John Ritter. Which I sort of can't explain, because I can't really say I was a big Ritter fan, in that I never really watched much of his work. But it bugged me because he actually seemed to be a genuinely nice guy, which seems to be a rarity in Hollywood. CBenoit brought up the one celebrity death that really bothered me - Brandon Lee. I was becoming a big fan of the guy, and to this day I firmly believe that, had he lived, he would have become a HUGE star in Hollywood.

Countdown to Infinite Crisis, six page preview

An interesting proposal, and one that I also think is a definite possibility, given that the Spectre seems to be an important part of the storyline (given his role in the supernaturally-themed miniseries). -

Very interesting. I've been reading the Strange mini, and I think there's a definite possibility you're right. -
WHY?!?! What have you heard about my buying plans?!?!?!

Hey, you're wrong twice! No, he's only half-wrong, which makes him half-right. I've heard lots and lots of this guy's material. I didn't laugh once. Absolutely shitty comedian.

"I've been friends with the Pope for many years. And once, when we were both watching a football game on the television, he turned to me and said, Michael, should I ever get gravely ill with an high fever brought on by a urinary tract infection, I want you to pull the plug on me. We should all respect his wishes." "Hey, good enough for me!"

Hey - how I first got into reading / collecting comics was by reading some of the Marvel classics like Spider-Man, Fantastic Four and Hulk, waaaaay back when I was a child, in the 80s. I still love those characters. But Marvel is too preoccupied with getting famous writers like Joss Whedon or Orson Scott Card to do their books and making sure every single comic property they own gets their own movie greenlighted, whereas DC seems mainly concerned with putting out great stories. BTW, a quick question for those who know more about Infinite Crisis than I may - is Maxwell Lord supposed to be the big bad villain for this whole thing? Because given all of the buildup to Infinite Crisis (which, quite frankly, legitimately started building at least a couple YEARS ago), I'm afraid that they may have the villain pulling the strings wind up being Lex Luthor, which would just be very tired, IMO. -
That was released in September of 2004. And was still not the best album of that year, either. Tool will put out the best album of the year (if they are putting out a new album) simply because they're Tool. And runner up will be NIN, simply because it's NIN.

Florida Bill Would Allow Students To Sue Teachers

Exactly. And it extends post-war as well and into fiction. Would Raiders of the Lost Ark have worked as well if the Soviets were the villains? Indy would have been dead. The Russians didn't mess around. Bullet to the head, next person. They were pretty bad with James Bond. Well, James Bond > Indiana Jones. Yeah, I said it. -
A nice alternative would be Daniel Baldwin - he's definitely drunk and psycho enough.

It WAS perfect. God, when their social satire really hits, it's out of the fucking park.

It's good to see this is going to finally be addressed. For those who read the Flash comics, one possible candidate is the Top. When the Top recently broke out of Iron Heights, it was revealed to Wally - through Green Arrow - that Top was one of the villains whom the league mindwiped back in the day. Barry Allen tried to turn Top into a superhero, but Top eventually went crazy due to the mental strain. Back in the present day, Top sort of taunts / threatens Wally with some cryptic comments about how he knows others who were mindwiped and how it wouldn't be difficult for him to undo the process. I'm loving all of this. 2005 is going to be the year DC just stomps on Marvel, creatively, all year long. -

I read Countdown over lunch, and I can say with confidence that it's worth the $1 investment, even if you hate that they seemingly piss all over the Giffen/DeMatteis/Maguire Justice League. Simply put, it's a good story, and you'll enjoy it. I'm thinking the editors of DC are like me, in that they detest the Giffen / DeMatteis / Maguire Justice League. Seriously, I've been reading JLA Classified, and the last two issues have been just awful. -
Yeah, I don't get it either. But it's a decision which sort of fucks over the media, so I don't mind it so much.

American car companies are a large part of the problem, and they're anachronistic. There is a definite market for hybrids out there, yet the American car companies seem content to just produce nothing but fucking trucks and SUVs. Oh, and I also blame Red-State America. Because all the good ol' boys I know wouldn't be caught dead in anything other than a GM truck.

Aren't there fans of New Invaders here? Well, you're fucked.

So-So episode but one that is disappointing me with regards to the fact that we are three episodes into the season and still no concrete storyline going. If we had a 15 episode season I can see them taking their time but since they are back to the 13 episode season format, it makes no sense to drag their feet like this. I personally think that the Vic / Shane rivalry is going to wind up being the main storyline. I could be wrong, as I haven't heard a thing about what's to be expected in this season, but I think they could be building up to a showdown between the two of them by season's end. And one won't be surviving to next season.

Interesting, I was "Everybody's Fool."
