EWR 4.0 Has Officially Been Set Free!

Recommended Posts

Ah, i thought that was 'accidently' *wink wink* as in you only should had had about $20,000.

Well there's that too. I'm was pretending I had a million given to me, and so I started up a fed with no PI at all.

Something I'm going to do with my first TEW fed (which I promised I make a diary of).

This is something i think is screwed, i started a new 'dream promotion' game, puit all the best workers from all the promotions and no touring etc, started as a backyard to see how fast i could climb the list, 100% advertising, two prime time slots with no competition and all i get is 0.04 ratings, with such main events as lesnar/rock etc.

:(

So how DO you build a promotion well?

Me?

Simple. I work a formula of consistantly good matches. I sign wrestlers whom I wish to keep, when I can afford it. I build up and bring in new talent when I can.

My advertisement is always above where I need it.

My production is always top-notch when compared to my competitors.

I always make sure I play to my wrestlers strengths and not their weakenesses.

Above all that, I try to make a profit whilst still making sure to entertain.

If you want specifics, currently I started a backyard fed at PI of 0.

I hired like 8 guys to start with. I started in May, and now at August I'm at like 20 Pi and 12 guys. I continually use "Put On A Good Match" and don't even bother with feuds at this level. Then again, I never bother with feuds. I go about 6 matches a show, with 3 angles/segments of filler for build.

Other than that, I run it the best I can. You can't always be perfect or get it the way you wish. You just continually try.

I usually select 'continue fued' - does that bit make a difference then?

I've noticed that "Put On A Good Match" increases the quality of the match.

If you are a backyard fed, then this is really what you must have.

Plus, at the backyard level, you are pretty much only known in your local neighbourhood and nowhere else.

Also at backyard, feuds are not recommended, since you never know who will be staying or going.

Anybody have their smarkness interfere with the game? IE have Taker job to Benoit even if it's bad for business?

London. Spanky. Benoit. Daniels. Guerrero.

Even if i draw 5.00 for Raws when it was on about 7 before...

Absolutely. Hell, guys like HHH & Taker? In my WWE game they're pretty much nothing but upper card enhancement talent. I just had Benoit go over Taker in a feud, and loved every minute of it.

Guerrero's going to be winning the world title soon. Sean O'Haire is my U.S. champ. Spanky's my cruiser champ. Hurricane is in the upper card on RAW. And Steven Richards - yes, Steven Richards - is on tap to win the IC title down the line.

Shit, what do I care? I suppose I could be pulling in 7.0s in the ratings, but screw that, I'm happy with my 5.85s, and I'm still making money.

If I let my markness interfere, I'd be dragging in 2.00s... Since I'd take Jonny C, Austin Lee, Adam Windsor, and my lower crop favorites up to the majors.

Besides, it isn't smarkiness, it is markness. Because it is who you mark for.

Amen. Way back when I first got EWR (2.0), I started a WWA game, as I always tend to pick a Regional/Cult fed and bulid them up. The WWA roster only had a handful of guys on it, so it was like starting from scratch, which is a challenge that I love. So of course, who did I push to the top right away? Who was one of my top stars for the five years I did the game, and resided at 100 percent overness for the longest time?

David. Flair.

In fact, my main event/upper midcard if I recall was Flair, Orton (who had pretty crappy stats in earlier games, but you got him when OVW guys were released), Sean O'Haire (ditto for being released early, and his charisma was like 49), Rhyno (snagged him once his deal was up), Benoit (ditto), Eric Angle and Charlie Haas, who I had as a tag team for the longest time.

X Title

Jerry Lynn to Johnny Kashmere

Brass Knuckles Title

Vic Capri to Reckless Youth

NWA World Tag Team Titles

Hero & Steel to Mikey & Tajiri

And what the hell is with injuries???? Do their stats slowly come back after an injury when they lose them? Low Ki's are going back up a little...will they gfo back to where they were?

No one I've seen ever fully recovered. In my old TNA game, Jay Briscoe (seems he's always getting hurt in these games, as he was injured badly in my current ROH game causing me to can him) got a neck injury and was out for a year, with his stats dropping between the 40's and 60's depending on which one it was. Before I wound up dropping that game, he was only at like 68 for his highest stat after having been at something like 61.

Agent Orange (Orange Crush) vs Tarek The Great.

Match Background: This will be a last man standing bout. Orange and Tarek have been feuding for quite some time now.

The Match: Orange is a glutton for punishment and just continues to take it during this match. Tarek The Great gets taken down out of nowhere! STIFF~! chop lights up Tarek who covers up to try and stop the agonizing PAIN! Agent Orange scores with a big spinebuster. Tarek counters an arm wringer with an elbow to the side of the head. Tarek rams Orange into a table. Spinebuster by Tarek The Great. The referee counts: 2....3...4....but Orange stands up. Death valley driver by Tarek The Great! No one executes that move properly anymore. Orange flips out of a Tarek The Great bodyslam attempt. Orange chair shots Tarek The Great. The referee is counting: 7....8....Tarek The Great is back up. Tarek backdrops Agent Orange out of a piledriver attempt. That took a lot out of Tarek The Great. Agent Orange is in trouble. Plastic Surgery Plunge!!! That shook the ring. The referee counts to 10, this match is over!

My Opinion: As close to a ***** match as possible...but unfortunately, it was missing something, so I can only give it ****3/4.

Here's something i've only just noticed...

The New Dream Team vs World's Greatest Tag Team.

Match Background: Sting has been feuding with Adam Taylor recently, who is a stable mate of Styles in The New Blood. This match is for the WWE Tag Team titles. The New Dream Team have been WWE Tag Team champions since 10 May 2004.

Nobody mention the fact that i made myself in the game please, i've been playing this game for months on end and i've only come across the stable bit in the match background.

The only usefulness of stables, gamewise, is that you can cover a shitty wrestler's charisma by having the leader talk all the time.

That being said, I never use them.

Also, is anyone playing TEW in here?

Damn that's a lot of stables...

I never have found the use for stables...

It's the WWE, and I have well over a hundred workers.

It's not so bad really - two stables on RAW brand, three on Smackdown. It actually sort of evens out.

Question for everyone: has anyone experimented with creating their own fantasy fed - i.e. like TEW, a fed consisting of "fantasy" wrestlers of their own creation?

Yes, I've done.

Didn't really care for it. Why? Because I had no backstory to the fed, and just went with it, brought in a whole bunch of talent, and fired off my talent that sucked.

So I think no. My first TEW ownership will be a fantasy fed, but I'll make it work.

Well, currently my backyard fed is going well. I'm up to 25 PI in October 2004, and I've still got all 12 guys I started with. I'm just got a 57 Overall Rating for my October show, Harmony of Screams, and frankly, I just continually have been getting better and better.

I'm just thinking I might drop the belt off of Jonny C here soon. He's held it for 3 months now, and I'm kinda wondering if I should. I've got Buzz Stryker as the first guy to face him, but I don't know if I want to drop it too him. I think I might build up Oman Tortuga for a second chance, and have him square off against Jonny C, as Tortuga is Da Thugg, and wishes to have that title for Thugg Life purposes or something. The two prime canidates for the title, Austin Lee and Edward James, I actually have them getting into dueling thing, so that when I get to my next show in December at Holiday Brawl, I'll have my first Cage match between the two of them. Of course with the #1 Contendership on the line. Which means, I might let Austin Lee win the title for a second time, and then have Edward James hunt Lee's ass for awhile. Or I could have a grand face vs. face rematch of James vs. Jonny C with James coming out on top and Jonny C turning heel, bitter that he lost.

What do you guys think? Drop the title to Stryker? Wait a month and drop to Oman Tortuga? Or wait two months to drop the title to Lee or James? Or let Jonny C continue to hold the title till sometime in the new year?

Jonny C is a face btw.

I'm all for Tommy Dreamer with a WWE title.

I have about 65 guys on the roster right now. But wrestling's only at 32% right now and going down...but I don't want to make any cuts

Yes... I've run many backyard feds with nobodies to global level.

It just gets boring fast... for reasons that Lightning Flik says.

Match from my WCW game (going on the third year now...) I'm guessing this is the absolute best rating you can get, as the match was 99/99/100.

AJ Styles vs Kurt Angle.

Match Background: This will be a ladder bout. Styles and Angle have been feuding for quite some time now. This match is for the Xtreme Heavyweight title. Kurt Angle has been Xtreme Heavyweight champion since 20 May 2001.

The Match: Standing leg lariat by AJ Styles on Angle. AJ Styles blasts Angle with a slingshot into the ladder. Flying elbow from AJ Styles connects. Implant DDT by AJ Styles! I will always and forever mark out for that move. Angle backdrops AJ Styles out of a piledriver attempt. That took a lot out of Kurt Angle. Angle hits a dropkick off the ladder on AJ Styles. Styles walks into a killer lariat, as opposed to a friendly lariat. AJ Styles powers out of a Kurt Angle headlock. Beautiful spinning arm drag out of the corner by Styles. Springboard dropkick from AJ Styles. Nicely done. Angle reverses a AJ Styles hammerlock. Standing leg lariat by Kurt Angle on Styles. AJ Styles reverses a hip toss. Styles uses a basement dropkick to the knee and it looks like it might be TIME TO GO TO SCHOOL~! They both begin to climb the ladder. Once they reach the top, an exchange of punches starts! Styles grabs Angle and throws him off into the ropes! His leg gets caught, trapping him. AJ Styles grabs the prize for the win. AJ Styles goes into the crowd, where he celebrates his victory

My Opinion: Absolutely mind blowing match! This is probably up there with my favorite match of all time, Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart from Wrestlemania X and is worthy of ALL its praise. *****

UDW Cruiserweight title

Paul London ©(f) vs Kaz Hayashi (h) vs Ultimo Guerrero (h)

Teddy Hart (f) vs Shannon Moore (h)

Kaos (f) vs Johnny Nitro (h)

Bob Sapp (f) vs Frank Shamrock (h)

Nick Dinsmore (h) vs Bryan Danielson (f)- Submission match

UDW TV title (currently vacant)

Masada (f) vs BJ Whitmer (f) vs Air Paris (h) vs Akio (h)

Pregame match

REALLY hope Hart vs Moore will break my ***** slump (both are current main eventers)
