Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted August 23, 2003 Once again CM Punk gets shafted seriously. Big Show #6? I guess. He did manage to suck all year after all.
iliketurtles 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2003 HHH @ 2??? I thought it was suppose to be the BEST wrestlers in the world. Not the guys that were champions.
CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2003 When's the ratings based on?
Guest The Real Nosferatu Report post Posted August 24, 2003 PWI usually ranks their monthly top 10 for each promotion by win/loss, quality of opponents and such. Or its doen by random. BTW, did Hulk Hogan get ranked this year, and if so, was it in the 400s? lol
Guest Devin Report post Posted August 24, 2003 And people say kayfabe is dead.........
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2003 Once again CM Punk gets shafted seriously. Big Show #6? I guess. He did manage to suck all year after all. No denying, this has been Big Show's best year easily. Pays to be in the ring with the best. UYI
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2003 Did Funaki make the list this year? Because last year he didn't and I cried.
Guest Black Tiger Report post Posted August 24, 2003 Keiji Mutoh at #4? What the hell, does PWI think it's 2001 again? If any wrestler from Japan deserved to make the top ten it's fuckin Takayama!
Guest Ray Report post Posted August 24, 2003 When will people learn that the PWI 500 is NOT based on match quality? It's a kayfabed list heavily influenced by position on the card (except for a few wrestlers picked to look smart). That's why HHH and Show are so high....they've been in main events constantly. You shouldn't pay much attention to this list. btw, GUERRERO SHOULD BE #
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2003 Exactly. This list is based on the premise that pro wrestling is a legitimate sport.

He was never lightning quick or anything, but he's pretty unwatchable now.

the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2003 I clicked on this topic thinking it was the DVDVR 500 for some reason. Imagine my shock when I saw HHH, Big Show, and RVD that high on the DVDVR list.

Guest ToddRoyal Report post Posted August 24, 2003 The PWI list always confuses the hell out of me. Most of the time they rate it in kayfabe, with guys like HHH high on the list, but then they throw in a year like 1998, where Dean freakin Malenko is rated #1. It seems as though they change criteria almost annually. They also seem to throw a major Japanese name into the top 5 just for "legitimacy" or something every year, regardless of that person's year. Also, the bottom 50-150 always just seem to be the staff going through indy results and randomly listing the names they find. Oh well, when I was 8...this thing was my bible. *sigh*
Guest The Real Nosferatu Report post Posted August 24, 2003 Once I reach the #250 I have never heard of 90% of the guys so it's not like I care. lol
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2003 I clicked on this topic thinking it was the DVDVR 500 for some reason. Imagine my shock when I saw HHH, Big Show, and RVD that high on the DVDVR list. I'd like to see a comparison between the most current DVDVR500 and the PWI 500 just for shits and giggles.
Adam 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2003 Bah, another list that doesn't mean a lot to me. If we here at the board were to come up with a list it would take forever because we could never agree.

The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2003 AJ Styles should have been in the top 10. I've skimmed a couple PWI's lately just to see how they cover TNA...and I was surprised to see that they treat it as bigger than I thought. Styles really should have been in the top 10 if RVD is going to sit there after having no good matches, winning no important title, missing 2 ppvs including WrestleMAnia AND getting less over in the past year. And RVD's my favorite wrestler! Anyway... did Jarrett make the top 50? He's the only one to do so every year that the list has existed...so every year I'm curious to see if the streak continues. Guest Jay Z. Hollywood Report post Posted August 24, 2003 Also, the bottom 50-150 always just seem to be the staff going through indy results and randomly listing the names they find. That's basically what they do-which is why you see major CZW/IWA names like Sonjay Dutt and Jimmy Jacobs ranked behind guys like EC Negro. Although I have heard that the wrestlers themselves sometimes send in little write-ups to try and get their name in there.
Guest netslob Report post Posted August 24, 2003 shit, most of the time they just reprint the same write-up from the year before, verbatim. two-bit hacks.
