The Single Greatest Line of Lyric

Recommended Posts

Level with God and you're in tune with the universe. Talk with yourself and you'll hear what ya wanna know. Gotta rise above 'cause below it's only getting worst. Life in time will take you where you wanna go.

"Her cold eyes imploring the men in their macs

For the gold in their bags or the knives in their backs

Stepping up boldly one put out his hand

He said "I was just a child then now I'm only a man"

- Roger Waters

also....

"There's something in the air

And you don't know what it is

You see someone through a window

Who you've just learned to miss"

That's a great line from a great song from a great album, BAR.

" I am the key to the lock in your house/That keeps your toys in the basement/And if you look too far inside/You only see my reflection." - Radiohead, Climbing Up The Walls

My opinion may change, but currently, that's the shit.

What I thought was true before/The lies I couldn't see/What I thought was beautiful/Was only memories"

Guns N Roses "The Blues"

*Thumbs Up*

And my favorite lyric from that song:

"You know, I wouldn't want to be you...now there's a hell I can't describe"

or perhaps...

"What I thought was beautiful, don't live inside of you anymore"

Man...I love that song.

Bury me smilin'

with G's in my pocket

have a party at my funeral

let every rapper rock it

let tha hoes that I usta know

from way before

kiss me from my head to my toe

give me a paper and a pen

so I can write about my life of sin

a couple bottles of Gin

incase I don't get in

tell all my people i'm a Ridah

nobody cries when we die

we outlaws

let me ride

"always know sometimes think it's me

but you know i know when it's a dream

i think a 'no' will mean a 'yes' but it's all wrong

that is i think i disagree." strawberry fields forever

i love the way that one goes back on itself.

also, any bit of imagery from "sad-eyed lady of the lowlands."

Yes, definitely my favourite album lyrically. One more:

"And still the dark stain spreads between

his shoulder blades

A mute reminder of the poppy fields and graves

And when the fight was over

We spent what they had made

But in the bottom of our hearts

We felt the final cut"

"Take seven M.C.'s, put 'em in a line and add seven more brothers who think they can rhyme, well, it'll take seven more before I go for mine, now that's 21 M.C.'s ate up at the same time." - Rakim

It's supposed to be single line, you guys are giving more than that. But since we can, I will too.

Space Ranger, contact tubes, send synthetics

I program one and go to Earth through the fax machine

My number's Seven-Oh-Nine Seven-Five-Five Six-E-L-Three

Computer File: Nine-Three

Digital level, standing on the terminal

Upside down through polygons fightin' pentagons

Changin' blue skin, my brown colour's comin' back

I'm psychedelic this time, come in rainbow

Look at the green lights and y'all see my brain glow

Five colours: yellow, black and red and green...purple

Dr. Octagon - Earth People

But if I was picking just one line, it would be:

Bitches love me cause they know that I can rock.

"When I was just a baby

My Momma told me 'Son

Always be a good boy

Don't ever play with guns'

But I shot a man in Reno

Just to watch him die..."

-Johnny Cash "Folsom Prison Blues"

Cash once said he was thinking of the worse act a man could do to another as a reason for the singer to be in prison, and that was it.

Just about ever word to "You've Never Been This Far Before" by Conway Twitty is classic

"I don't know what I'm saying as my trembling fingers touch forbidden places...bum bump buah..."

"I don't know and I don't care what made you tell him you don't love him any more"

"And you're wondering if tommorow I'll still love ya like I'm loving ya tonight. Huh huh huh! It has no way of knowing but tonight will make me love you more. And I hope that you'll believe me, cause I know you never been this far before."

Another good Twitty line thats spoken, not sung:

"I really thought that I loved you..." from "The Phone Song"

Back to The Man In Black, probably the entire song "Man In Black"

"Everything dies

Baby thats a fact

And maybe every thing that dies some day comes back

Put your make up on. Your hair up pretty

And meet me tonight in Atlantic City"

"Think I'm going to the well tonight and I'm drink till I get my fill

And I hope when I get older I wont sit around thinking bout em

But I probably will.

Just sitting back, trying to recaputre the glory of

Well times slips away, leaves you with nothing Mister but boring stories of Glory Days!"

"At night I wake up with the sheets soaking wet

and a frieght train running through the middle of my head

Only you can cool my desire

Oh oh I'm on fire"

-Bruce Springsteen

Don't know off hand who wrote it, but Garth Brooks sings it:

"Lord I'm much too young to feel this damn old!"

Another classic Garth Brooks tune:

"And now.

I'm glad I didn't know

The way it would end

the way it would go

Our lives

Their better left to chance

I could have missed the pain

But I'd have to miss the dance"

"And it was never enough

And it was never enough now

That heroin stuff

Traveling through Daddy's arm now

Cuffed in that junk who knows if I would survive

Once you start shooting, forget living life

Lost in your shadows, no soul, no backbone

Sucked in, locked down, spinning breakdown, heroin whores

Everybody's talking about heroin dreams...

What the fuck you gonna do with the rest of your life?

Scream at me, back slap me, chew off my ears

And I can't stop this sickness, I've been trying for years

Deeper and deeper lies, sensational fears

They're here just to guide you as we age through the years

Everybody's talking about heroin dreams...

What the fuck you gonna do with the rest of your life?

What the fuck you ganne do with the rest of your time?

I'm lost in your shadows..." -Heroin Dreams-LOA

"The heart pumps, until it dies

Drain the blood, the heart is wise"

-Drain the Blood The Distillers.

No particular reason for the liking the line, I just love it.

Very good line, The Distillers lyrics alone seperate them from most so called "punk" bands, although I prefer most of the stuff off of Sing Sing Death House.

But yes, I of course am going with Patton related groups and Faith No More's The Real Thing has by far my most favorite lyrics ever and to pick one line would be nearly impossible but I'll go with...

"Like the echoes of your childhood laughter, ever after

Like the first time love urged you to take it's guidance, in silence

Like your heartbeat when you realize you're dying, but you're tryin

Like the way you cry for a happy ending, ending..."

Whole song is just amazingly well written and probably the only song to nail what life is on every level IMO.

Wow do I hate that song. My ex told me to listen to it after we broke up, and wow did it hurt.

BTW, BPS and UYI, if only we could hear that song on a fuckin album. As a single it could be a new "Sweet Child Of Mine".

Anyways, here's two more

"I knew the storm was getting closer

And all my friends said I was high

But everything we've ever known's here

I never wanted it to die"

Guns N Roses "Estranged"

"No one needs the sorrow

No one needs the pain

I hate to see you

Walking out there

Out in the rain

So don't chastise me

Or think I mean you harm

Like those who take you

Leave you strung out

Much too far baby, yeah

Don't ever leave me

Say you'll always be there

All I ever wanted, was for you

To know that I care"

Guns N Roses "Rocket Queen
