5_moves_of_doom Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Sammy Hagar <--- Is very good friends with his nephew. Anyhow, pick up This Year's Model by Elvis Costello or any of Bowie's more prestigious albums. All considered sort of "mandatory" for anyone with a large album collection.
Nevermortal Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Strapping Young Lad - SYL AFI - Sing the Sorrow

Black Crowes- Southern Harmony and It's Musical Companion Living Colour- Vivid Beastie Boys- Paul's Boutique and Check Your Head also, 2nd on The Mooney Suzuki- Electric Sweat
Youth N Asia Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band- Trouble Is...... Damn right my man! That and "Live On" are both great. As long as the title doesn't scare you I'd pick up "The Fags" 5 song self intitled EP. It's great
mw679 Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Kenny is the fuckin' man! Live On is an awesome album, looking forward to the new stuff(hopefully the beginning of the year).
Nevermortal Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 The Mars Volta "Deloused in the Comatorium" I second that.
Placebo Effect Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 This is just off the top of my head, so excuse any discrepancies. stellastarr* Disturbed - Believe Dope - Group Therapy Placebo - Any of them. Revis Sloth 40 Below Summer, new CD (hed) p.e. - Blackout Dunno. I don't have any CDs around me, nor my MP3s on this computer.
Corey_Lazarus Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Helloween - Better Than Raw Iced Earth - Horror Show Both are TREMENDOUS power metal albums. Sure, Matt Barlow's (Iced Earth) vocals are annoying, but do you know what? Jon Schaeffer's excellent guitar mastery makes up for it. As for Helloween, they're a guilty pleasure. The songs are so damn cheesy you HAVE to love them. I also recommend: Green Jelly - Cereal Killer Green Jelly - 333
Guest T®ITEC Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead: "Source Tags And Codes". Whatever, I liked it. And/or... 311: "From Chaos".
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 For the love of god, do not buy a Helloween cd. Corey, quit trying to waste this kid's money. Frank Zappa-Apostrophe. Probably the best intro to FZ, if you've never heard much from him. The cd is quirky and amusing, sometimes stupid, but never boring, and it has some sweet guitar work. Acid Bath-When The Kite String Pops. One of my 5 favorite cds ever, probably. Sinister Swamp Metal from down below, with lyrics anyone can pick out. No growling, but it's not short on aggression or brutality. Also contains two great slow songs. It's pretty much a cross section of great metal sounds, presented very well. Gets better every time I hear it. Primus-Animals Should Not Try To Act Like People. It's their newest 5 song EP (With 2 tracks running over 7 minutes), and 3-odd hour DVD full of all their music videos, some rare shit, live cuts, interviews, biographies, basically EVERYTHING Primus. The EP is total brilliance straight through, with them adopting a MUCH more progressive sound, and producing it better than anything else they've done.
Youth N Asia Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Kenny is the fuckin' man! Live On is an awesome album, looking forward to the new stuff(hopefully the beginning of the year). I saw him open for Jimmy Page w/The Black Crowes a couple of years ago. He's amazing live. You can't go wrong with early REM. "Murmur" and "Reckoning" are great. Them has a great 2 disk anthology that's very good.
1234-5678 Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Guns N Roses "Use Your Illusion 1" The Doors "LA Woman"
PLAGIARISM! Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Sparks - 'Lil' Beethoven' Most most original, accessible and best album of 2002.
Guest T_Hunt Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 Dungeon Family-Even in darkness
Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 Anathema - Judgement (Again I'll say, the best cd ever recorded, bar none.) Emperor - Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk ( Best metal cd ever) Pantera - Power Metal (Super fun party metal anthems) Neurosis - Through Silver In Blood (will melt your body and skullfuck your soul...in all the right ways) Agalloch - The Mantle (if you're suicidal, this will either push you over the edge or lift all the pain away)
Ravenbomb Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 Strong Bad Sings and Other Type Hits
B. Brian Brunzell Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 Strapping Young Lad - SYL I like SYL alot, but City is the better album. Aw fuck it, get them both. More recommendations: Resonance 2- Anethema The Headphone Masterpiece- Cody Chestnutt Kind of Blue- Miles Davis Exile in Guyville- Liz Phair Infinity- Devin Townsend Mit Gas- Tomahawk
Guest BAR Posted November 28, 2003 Report Posted November 28, 2003 III - Led Zeppelin: tends to be the most underrated of their big ones.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted November 29, 2003 Report Posted November 29, 2003 Emperor - Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk ( Best metal cd ever) Neurosis - Through Silver In Blood (will melt your body and skullfuck your soul...in all the right ways) While I take exception with it being the best metal cd ever, Anthems.. is good shit. Neurosis though, now that's a mean motherfucker. If for whatever reason you happen to LOVE Neurosis, check out Sunn0))). Trancelike hypnotic droning music.
Jack_Bauer Posted November 29, 2003 Report Posted November 29, 2003 Coldplay - A Rush of Blood To The Head Radiohead - The Bends Muse - Absolution Ash - Free All Angels Idlewild - The Remote Part Supergrass - Supergrass Manic Street Preachers - The Holy Bible Queen - A Day at the Races AFI - Sing The Sorrow The Strokes - Room On Fire or Is This It The Darkness - Permission To Land The White Stripes - White Blood Cells Red Hot Chili Peppers - Greatest Hits Feeder - Comfort In Sound Pulp - Different Class REM - Document Guns N Roses - Appetite For Destruction Mercury Rev - All Is Dream Linkin Park - Meteora Stereophonics - Word Gets Around U2 - The Joshua Tree
