PLAGIARISM! Posted September 20, 2004 Report Posted September 20, 2004 Just pre-ordered the new Waits, Cave and Shine by Crime and the City Solution, which is supposedly an unacknowledged classic. we'll see.
5_moves_of_doom Posted September 20, 2004 Report Posted September 20, 2004 Oh shit. I have loaded up.
5_moves_of_doom Posted September 20, 2004 Report Posted September 20, 2004 Continued... Rock on, and stuff.
DCMaximo Posted September 20, 2004 Report Posted September 20, 2004 Morrissey - Southpaw Grammer I know this is a controversial opinion, but that's actually my favourite Moz album. "Reader Meets Author" is the prime example of "Moz album track that should have been a single", "Dagenham Dave" still brings a smile to my face and "The Teachers Are Afraid Of The Pupils" is almost a rebuttal to "The Headmaster Ritual" from Meat Is Murder. Great stuff
Adam Posted September 21, 2004 Report Posted September 21, 2004 Yesterday I bought: The Streets - A Grand Don't Come For Free; and The Music - Welcome to the North I had read a thread in here about the best albums of the year so far and The Streets came up a few times, so I decided that I'd take the plunge, although I've never been a great fan of urban or rap music. I LOVED it. Some absolutely awesome tracks in there, from the funny (Fit But You Know It, Not Addicted), to the cool (Get Out of My House, Such a Twat), to the angry (Empty Cans), to the somewhat sensitive (Could Well Be In). But the song that impressed me the most was Dry Your Eyes, it was so fucking sad, perhaps one of the saddest breakup songs I have ever heard, and one of the best. 5 Stars The Music have always impressed me. I've heard them everywhere, and tried to buy their first album last year, but couldn't find it. Then the bew single Freedom Fighters came out, and I really liked it, so I deiced to buy it as well. It didn't impress me as much as The Streets, but it was still a rockin' album with some really fast, catchy tracks (Bleed From Within, Breakin'), as well as somer slower ones, like Fight The Feeling. A really solid effort, and now I want their first album. 3 1/2 Stars

Guest JebusNassedar Posted October 2, 2004 Report Posted October 2, 2004 Like getting acosted by funk. It's no Miss Machine, but fuckdamn it's close. The only thing dragging it down is Buckethead (the song.), in my opinion. Ballad of Buckethead > this.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted October 2, 2004 Report Posted October 2, 2004 What's the lineup on that album, exactly? I'm probably going to get it, as a Les Claypool completist.

Guest JebusNassedar Posted October 3, 2004 Report Posted October 3, 2004 Is Bernie Brains going to tour? Because... you know... if they do... I will freak out, and stuff. Indeed, the Bucket will be touring America. It's coming to San Diego, but it's 21 and over. To make up for it, about a week later, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones are coming to town. Dates (opener is Gabby Lala, whatever the fuck that means.): 09/24 Minneapolis, MN Quest Club 09/25 Chicago, IL Riviera Theatre 09/27 Royal Oak, MI Royal Oak Theatre 09/28 Washington, DC Nation Audio 09/29 Boston, MA Roxy 10/01 New York, NY Roseland Ballroom 10/02 Philadelphia, PA Electric Factory 10/03 Providence, RI Lupo's 10/05 Asheville, NC Orange Peel 10/06 Atlanta, GA Variety Playhouse 10/21 Salt Lake City, UT Velvet Room 10/22 Denver, CO Fillmore 10/23 Albuquerque, NM Sunshine Theater 10/25 Las Vegas, NV House of Blues 10/26 Tempe, AZ Marquee Theatre 10/27 San Diego, CA 4th & B 10/29 Los Angeles, CA Avalon 10/30 San Francisco, CA Warfield 11/01 Santa Cruz, CA Catalyst 11/03 Sacramento, CA Crest Theatre 11/05 Eugene, OR McDonald Theatre 11/06 Portland, OR Roseland 11/07 Seattle, WA Showbox
5_moves_of_doom Posted October 3, 2004 Report Posted October 3, 2004 Just picked up the Bucket of Bernie Brains album along with Prince's Crystal Ball... anyway, if they're touring, I'd die to see them, but I'm not so sure I can afford it. Or find a way to get there either, seeing as how I am not in the possession of a car. But... hrm, I guess if I don't see them, my future concert line-up of Stephen Malkmus/Lou Reed/Modest Mouse/Pixies/Guided By Voices/Flaming Lips/The Cramps/The Shins/Built to Spill/etc. will tide me over... but if I do, it will be intense. I had a free ticket to see Primus just a few months back but due to odd circumstances I couldn't make it, and so this might just make up for that.
