The Simpsons, King of the Hill and Family Guy are definitely up there for me.

What do you think?

Batman: The Animated Series and Gargoyles are the two best animated series ever produced for American television.

Everything else falls short.

I don't really list shows like Family Guy or Simpsons as "cartoons".

Really good Mel Blanc Looney Tunes ARE the greatest cartoons of all time.

Simpsons are also there now.

Southpark is getting there.

Samurai Jack is the best american action cartoon, otherwise it's something Japanese I'd say.

For strait up comedy it's heyday-era simpsons.

I'd of course OF COURSE stick Home Movies in there because I'm a fan of the humor style, but who am I kidding.

I would say best of all time are the Looney Tunes as a whole, emphasizing Bugs, Daffey, Foghorn Leghorn, and some Porky.

Current is the 4-7th season simpsons.

Nothing else really comes close in terms of "best of all time"

I mean if you must include action, Samurai Jack has, by far, the best produced and directed action animated to date. There's just no comp from cheesy 80's and 90's "action" cartoons like Tranformers, Turtles, and GI Joe. B:TAS, Gargoyles, and the like are more dramas than anything else, and I suppose thats another subgenre, but neither are remembered today the way the Simpsons are.

Most of the ones mentioned are also favorites of mine but I noticed Ducktales mentioned yet.

Mr Rant mentioned Disney so therefore everything from Gummy Bears to Tail Spin to Chip & Dale Rescue has been mentioned. Unless he meant the Mickey Mouse shorts like the steamboat one.

I'm assuming we're talking American cartoons, anime not allowed so

Rocky and Bullwinkle

Looney Tunes

the Disney Robin Hood

American animation(at least what I see on broadcast TV, I don't have cable) is sucky as can be, it's like they've given up even trying to be good.

Older (some fairly old, some fairly recent) cartoons, I'm a big fan of:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Scooby-Doo

Tom & Jerry

Looney Tunes

Pretty much anything from Disney

Garfield

Superman

Batman

In recent anime, I'm a fan of:

Pokemon

Sailor Moon

Never really gotten into Dragon Ball Z.

Recent Prime-Time cartoons, I'm also rather fond of:

Dr. Katz

South Park

Bob & Margaret

Clerks

Ren & Stimpy

I'm sure that I could think of more if I took the time. :)

Squigglevision cartoons make me want to kill someone. The line quality is incredibly unsettling, and it makes me nervous. It's like an ugly kid that won't sit still.

I find cartoons to be pretty retarded, and I utterly loathe anime, so I just go for the most absurd stuff I've got readily available, and that's Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Sealab2021. Any Terry Gilliam cutout animation is fabulous, however.

C'mon, you have to give a shout out to Tex Avery. My two favorits of his is the one with Droopy as the deputy and these two robbers are trying to break into a safe without make any noise and wake the sheriff. The other is with this whistling fox who has a baby goat that eats everything in sight, so he shoots him to the moon and it eats the moon.

The Critic is a highly under-rated program.

Okay, if we're opening up anime we have, in my opinion:

Nausicaa Of the Valley Of the Wind

Princess Mononoke

Kiki's Delivery Service

Excel Saga

Azumanga Daioh

Castle Of Cagliostro(a movie which kept the Lupin feel but rose far, far above what I've seen of the second Lupin TV show)
