Break-Up Time Saturday Night Live's Maya Rudolph scored a spot on our 25 Funniest People list, but it's fellow cast members Jimmy Fallon and Horatio Sanz who really get the laughs-from each other. Watching this pair crack themselves up is funnier than half the show's skectches, and could even turn into a trendy new drinking game (chug every time Jimmy snickers during "Weekend Update"). Oddly, when SNL began in 1975, giggling during a sketch was durided as being too "Carol Burnett." Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2004 I don't really hate Fallon at all when he isn't cracking up or playing a character like, say, Jarret, which wasn't funny to begin with, but Sanz is pretty terrible 85% of the time. The funniest Maya's been has been when she was carried by Ana Gasteyer (Gemini's Twin) and Will Forte's (almost) legendary "it's not HALF-black month, Tina" comment... And now they say Sanz and Fallon cracking up is all while naming Maya one of the 25 Funniest People in America. EW has a 50 word article about how much someone spends on a house. EW is much different than Entertainment Tonight. They have good articles, good reviewers and some news I don't see on the internet. She gets put in sketches with HORRIBLE writing and the fact that she pulls a chuckle out of the audience with the CRAP she is working with is amazing. And I don't care what anyone says, her character on the Apalcian(sp) emergency room with the deep voice makes me laugh every time. I don't get why Bob gives Fey the love fest when she is probably the one writing the crap that Maya has to try and make funny. I think she is a very funny woman. Maya is the only thing that gets the slight chuckle out of the thing, completely on her own, the writing is HORRIBLE. They throw her out there to get hit in the head with crap as that "Apprentice" chick...the only laugh was because of Maya's reaction, the joke was stupid and went on too long. The Latoya Jackson sketch...seriously, HOW could that be funny. The only laugh? Maya...and Keenan's Chaka Khan. I mean seriously, go through most of Mayas "unfunny" sketchs and listen to her lines. It has nothing to do with her. She is the post weekend update sketch person now. The one they send out there with the WORST material and she gets bashed for it. I blame Fey. She is on the writing crew. You mean to tell me they sit around and say"Well...lets have Maya get hit in the head with part of the ceiling. then some pizza. then a book...then a typewriter..then a horseshoe...then..." and think it is hilarious. Stuff like Second Time Around, Subway Fred are horrible and seem to make no attempt to be funny. That's her fault. She probably comes up with most of her characters. And if she's being handed this unfunny stuff (Which I doubt) then that's her fault. She needs to come up with better ideas for herself. That's how you get on the air. And I don't care what anyone says, her character on the Apalcian(sp) emergency room with the deep voice makes me laugh every time. Maya is alright in Appalachian Emergency Room but Amy and Parnell smoke her in that skit. She may be co-head writer but Lorne and Dennis McNicholas also have a big say in what goes on. As much as I HATED Omarosa on WU it played vey well so I don't blame her ofr that one. When Sanz and Fallon are behaving themselves they are not that bad. Horatio has been so much better lately and Jimmy's had nothing to do so he hasn't pissed me off. I'm also starting to get sad realising that Jimmy's leaving. Maya is the worst thing on SNL. Until a few weeks ago I would've said Sanz but he's been better and the guy's hilarious at improv.
