ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 BISCHOFF EXERTS HIS AUTHORITY; ANNOUNCES FIVE HUGE MATCHES May 10, 2004 General Manager Eric Bischoff has already announced several blockbuster matches for Monday Night RAW, airing live at 9/8 CT on Spike TV. Undoubtedly, the RAW brand has not seen a lineup this loaded since the Backlash pay-per-view. When the members of Evolution complained vehemently after a six-man tag team match that kicked off the May 3 episode of RAW, Bischoff immediately signed three matches for this coming Monday. First, Triple H will try to beat Shelton Benjamin, finally, as the former World Heavyweight Champion will go one on one with the youngster from Orangeburg, S.C. -- who has quite a winning streak going, particularly over the members of Evolution, including consecutive wins over The Game himself. Be sure to tune in exactly at 9/8 CT, as the Triple H/Benjamin match will kick off the show. Also, Batista will try to exact revenge when he takes on Tajiri, who sprayed the green mist in the eyes of the powerhouse. Bischoff also announced that the Intercontinental Championship will be on the line, as Randy Orton will defend against the man who pinned him in the six-man tag match, Edge. This match will mark the first time the Intercontinental Championship has been defended on RAW since February. After announcing those three huge matches, Bischoff dropped another bombshell: Chris Jericho will be able to get his hands on Christian without the threat of outside interference. That's because Trish Stratus and "problem solver" Tyson Tomko will literally be blocked from the ring by a 15-foot-high steel cage! That's right -- Y2J and Christian battle in a Steel Cage Match this Monday on RAW! And there's more: Eugene will make his anxiously anticipated in-ring debut as he tangles with Rob Conway of La Resistance. The American turncoat, who recently relocated to Quebec, is coming off a huge win over The Hurricane, which Conway said was a preview of what's in store for Eugene. However, Eugene appeared to be a quick study -- indeed, he seemed to have uncanny strength, and he took to the mat like a fish to water -- during a training session with William Regal. To reiterate, five HUGE matches have already been announced for RAW: Triple H vs. Shelton Benjamin Batista vs. Tajiri Randy Orton vs. Edge for the Intercontinental Championship Chris Jericho vs. Christian in a Steel Cage Match Eugene Dinsmore vs. Rob Conway Plus, what will Matt Hardy and Lita have in store for Kane, and vice versa? What will Shawn Michaels have to say after Triple H cost him the World Heavyweight Championship? All this and more on Monday Night RAW, 9/8 CT on Spike TV. The only real sad thing? The quote above... This match will mark the first time the Intercontinental Championship has been defended on RAW since February. Just sad to me for some reason.

ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 This match will mark the first time the Intercontinental Championship has been defended on RAW since February. It was on the line at Backlash.... Yeah...but that was at the PPV. This is the first time on the actual Raw show. Sorta like how HBK wrestled on PPVs before it, but his match with RVD back in November/December of 02 was his first match ON RAW in however many years. Guest Deviant Report post Posted May 10, 2004 Still though, it's been defended once on television since Feb... Continue being disgusted. Not having title defenses is apparantly part of WWE's way of getting over a heel champion.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 Still though, it's been defended once on television since Feb... Continue being disgusted. Actually, it was defended on the May 2nd edition of Sunday Night Heat, against Val Venis, IIRC. It just hasn't been defended ON RAW since February.
C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 Rediculously enough, I think that I'm looking forward to the Eugene match as much as any. They really did a good job building someone up for once.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 Rediculously enough, I think that I'm looking forward to the Eugene match as much as any. They really did a good job building someone up for once. Amazing how they could take a gimmick that in it's first week was a WrestleCrap definition...and made the person behind it an attention getter in a match situation for this show. ...if they let Eugene win, will Eugene bust out the Regal Stretch again? DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 My casual fan / markish co-worker is looking forward to the Eugene match more than anything he has in a long time. As it turns out, I am too. I don't understnad calling Tajiri vs Batista a huge match, but the rest of tonight's card sounds great. Tajiri vs Batista I assumed would be a squash, but maybe it won't be. Benjamin vs HHH - Should be good, I look for Benj to become 3-0 after HBK pays HHH back for last week and further set up their Bad Blood match. Orton vs Edge - Edge wins the strap, forming the new and improved Two Man Power Trip with Benoit. Or not, but I think that would be cool (not the TMPT part, but those 2 holding all the belts). Jericho vs. Christian - should be good stuff, hopefully Jericho wins and they move on to new opponents. Although this doesn't make a helluva lot of sense, I could see them having Christian's next feud be over the IC title with Edge (even though he recently declared interest in the World title). Eugene vs Conway - should be interesting.

Markme123 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 I'm really excited because whenever RAW is in San Jose something memorable happens. 3/15/99: JR is War table & the infamous Undertaker raids Vince's home while he's at the arena. Shane is on the phone with the Greenwich police - he asks them to go over to his house, where the Ministry is trespassing. The sargeant says no dice. Vince: "I need you to go over there right now. - Publicity stunt? - This is no publicity stunt - my family is in trouble. - You're watching me on TV-" 1/8/01: Kurt Angle v. Austin one-on-one match with HHH returning. Insane heat, awesome match. 5/21/01: Benoit/Jericho v. Austin/HHH There was also SummerSlam '01, a SD! in 2000 and one last year(Cena v. Benoit, Benoit v. Lesner), and a bunch of house shows over the last 3 years. Hopefully something memorable will happen tonight with the 5 matches announced, Dinsmore's in ring debut, and Kenzo Suzuki's on camera debut. *Awaits patiently*
Guest Your Olympic Hero Report post Posted May 10, 2004 I wonder what the main event will be? I'm hoping the cage match. Yes... I've posted this before. Drama filled cage match with Jericho overcoming interference from Tomko and Trish and beating Christian cleanly to blow off that long ass feud. Then Benoit comes to the ring, congratulates Jericho, shakes his hand, expresses his respect for Jericho... and offers him the next title shot.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 You all can guess what I'm looking forward to the most, just see my sig. Don't forget the debut of Hirohito, or whatever he's going to be called. I haven't looked forward to a RAW this much since, well, last week I guess.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted May 10, 2004 Damn, I forgot about all this shit that will be going down. Hirohito should be interested, if nothing else. It'll be worth watching for me, just because it'll be another new face. That's not counting the other people that he'll be with. I think that I'm looking forward to Christian Vs. Jericho the most. Maybe it's because I like both workers. Maybe it's because I like gimmick matches. I just want to see a winner. Eugenes match should be interesting and make for some funny moments. All of the Evolution matches will be worth watching.
thuganomics 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 This could very well be the best RAW wrestling wise ever. I'd guess the cage match, if its truly blowing off the feud (and I think it is) will be the main event. Although the Eugene/Conway match could very well be the show stealer if they let this pair wrestle the way I know they both can.
Open the Muggy Gate 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 Let's see the matches.... HHH vs. Shelton Benjamin. Benjamin will probably get the win after HBK gets revenge. Shelty will then feud with Orton over the I-C title... Orton vs. Edge. Because Orton will have Flair's help to beat Edge probably. Batista vs. Tajiri. Meanwhile, I am really interested in this match. These two had a pretty good match going when they were against each other during that 6-man tag match last week. I like to see what they can do 1-on-1. And who would have thought Tajiri would be where he is right now? Weeks ago, he was jobbing to Garrison Cade. Let me say that again... GARRISON CADE! Jericho vs. Christian in a cage. This has definitely got my interest. I haven't seen a cage match in a while. They busted it out at the right time. Can't wait for this. Eugene vs. Rob Conway. And the match I've been wanting to see most of all. THE LORDS OF THE RINGS EXPLODE~! Anyways... Conway is good. Eugene is good. It should all be good. I will mark out if Eugene finishes with the German. And that is what I think of tonight. I don't know about Hirohito or whatever the hell they are calling him. I'm just gonna enjoy tonight, I know that.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 I predict: Batista defeats Tajiri clean. Triple H defeats Benjamin with help from Orton. Eugene defeats Conway. Edge defeats Orton by DQ *or* Orton defeats Edge....when Benjamin interferes. Benjamin attacks Orton (DQ) or messes up an attack and Edge loses. Either way, sets up a 3-way challenge for the title. NO IDEA about the cage. Christian could win and go on to Benoit... Same for Jericho... I'm looking forward to it.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted May 10, 2004 Christian could win and go on to Benoit... That would be interesting to see. Christian getting a World Heavyweight title shot.
