Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2004 Its Purple. Unless your color blind, it's always been Purple. Now the yellow/gold is a problem. There's a real argument. Although I say it's yellow.
Kurt Angle Mark 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2004 But...it is purple. I guess you guys haven't seen the Lakers play wearing their old throwback jerseys which happen to be blue.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2004 But he said "forum blue and gold". Obviously meaning their normal jerseys.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2004 They refer to purple as "Forum blue" because both teams at the Inglewood Forum wore that same shade: the Lakers, and the L.A. Kings before they got Gretzky and went to black and silver. But that doesn't explain the "blue" part!

Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2004 I am not so sure about Coach K either. He gives LA the biggest coaching name in college right now besides Bobby Knight, but I am not so sure about the transition and how smoothly it would go. Most college coaches do not fare well on their first tour of duty coaching in the NBA except Larry Brown and he's a freaking B-Ball genius. While I am no Laker fan, I think Rudy T is their best option, even over Riley.
Kurt Angle Mark 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2004 YESSS!!!!! Kobe sweepstakes down to Lakers and Clippers ESPN reports that Steve Nash has verbally agreed to a 5 year 65 million dollar contract with the Suns. Cuban has already told Nash that he won't match the offer.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2004 Coach K is too nice for the NBA. They would eat him alive and spit his "I believe in player loyality" onto the court. Great coach but he isn't going to be able to make a Larry Brown transition. He should stick where he is at his best. And I hate Duke.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2004 YESSS!!!!! Kobe sweepstakes down to Lakers and Clippers I'm sorry, but why is anyone pushing to sign Kobe right now? You could really end up getting screwed if the nice people of Colorado decide to ship him to prison.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2004 Steve Nash.....65 million!?! I dunno, Nash strikes me as an "above average" player, but whenever he goes up against upper eschalon players, he gets schooled.

The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 Sucks to see Nash leave Dallas. Well, I wouldn't mind Dirk at forward and Shaq at center. I would still like those Mavericks. As for the Lakers, if they're going to lose Bryant, I think they shouldn't bother with a top-flight coach this year, because it's just looking like a lost cause. No Malone, Shaq, Kobe, Phil, Fisher, possibly no Fox. That leaves them with Luke Walton, Devean George, and Luke Walton. Write this year off. Promote an assistant for the year, and pick up Pat Riley for 2006.
Kurt Angle Mark 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 Clippers have set up a meeting with Kobe Bryant By John Nadel / Associated Press General manager Elgin Baylor said Thursday a meeting has been set up with Bryant, who opted out of his contract two weeks ago to become an unrestricted free agent after playing eight years with the Lakers. "We wouldn't be wasting our time if we didn't think so," Baylor said when asked if he believes the Clippers have a legitimate chance of signing Bryant. "It will be soon, I can't tell you exactly when," Baylor said regarding a meeting between the parties. "We intend to talk to Kobe to go through all specifics, see what he has in mind. He's friendly with a couple players here. He likes our team from what I understand from his agent. We're willing to do whatever it takes to get Kobe." Teams were allowed to begin speaking with free agents at 12:01 a.m. EDT on Thursday. Free agents can't sign until July 14. Baylor said on a conference call that he's contacted representatives of other free agents to inquire about their services and received calls to gauge possible interest the Clippers, NBA doormats for years, might have in other available players. But Bryant is clearly at the top of their wish list, as is the case with several teams. Baylor laughed when asked if Bryant was the biggest name the Clippers have ever pursued. "No question, no doubt about it," Baylor said. Bryant turns 26 shortly before going on trial Aug. 27 in Colorado, where he faces a felony sexual assault charge. Baylor said that had no bearing on the Clippers' decision to pursue him. The Lakers can offer Bryant a seven-year contract worth more than $135 million, while other teams can offer six years at around $100 million. Baylor left no doubt the Clippers will offer the maximum. Baylor also said his team has a very good relationship with Bryant's agent, Rob Pelinka, who represents three current Clippers - Corey Maggette, Chris Kaman and Keyon Dooling. The Lakers acquired Bryant for Vlade Divac in 1996 after the then-Charlotte Hornets took him with the 13th overall pick in the NBA draft. Bryant went straight from high school to the NBA and has been one of its top players for several years. "He's certainly a great, great player, there's no doubt about his talent," said Baylor, a Hall of Famer. "He's a player we'd love to have. I think he might make a decision sooner than people think. It's up to Kobe. He's going to make that decision." When asked if the Clippers are more attractive than other teams, Baylor replied: "He loves the city. We have a lot of young talent and are getting better all the time. He likes our team." The Clippers have won just one playoff series, in 1976 when they were based in Buffalo, and have made the playoffs only three times since - in 1992, 1993 and 1997. But in Maggette and Elton Brand, the Clippers have two outstanding young players, and believe they picked up a future star when they took 18-year-old point guard Shaun Livinston with the fourth overall pick in the draft last week. Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 Well, with Phoenix's team he WILL put them in the playoffs, he's exactly what they need, he's a much better fit for them than Marbury ever was. Nash is the second best pure point in the league behind J-Kidd and he'll make Johnson, Marion and Stoudemire much better, I can understand why Phoenix felt they needed him. I've gotta think the only reason he was given 65 over say 50 or 55 was just to keep Cuban from matching the offer, they obviously really, really wanted Nash. The Electrifyer 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 Vince Carter has demaded a trade ala his cousin. Good... get rid of him. As for Nash, I was kinda hoping he'd stay with Dallas or sign with Toronto. Phoenix I guess felt they had no chance with Kobe and went for Nash instead. A little pricey, but good move. I wonder how many free agents Atlanta can sign now. Steviekick 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2004 Jazz add ex-player Corbin to staff SALT LAKE CITY -- The Utah Jazz hired Tyrone Corbin as an assistant coach Thursday, reuniting him with the team he played for in three of his 16 NBA seasons. Corbin, who spent last season as manager of player development with the New York Knicks, replaces Kenny Natt on head coach Jerry Sloan's staff. Natt left the Jazz last month for a job with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Corbin played for Utah from 1991-94. That's an odd choice. I don't even remember him playing for the Jazz. It's not much of a risk for the Clips. It could be a pretty big risk for the Clips if they signed Kobe and he ends up in jail. To sign Kobe they would have let Quentin Richardson go. They could potentially end up without Kobe or Q and then theyd be screwed. The west is soo loaded. Phoenix should make the playoffs. If they do then who doesn't. All the other west teams that were in last year will still have a good shot at making it. New Orleans, Portand, and Utah all were at .500 or above and will contend. Thats 12 teams that in a normal year would make the playoffs.
