DMann2003 Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 Even though it's only been 4 1/2 years, VH1 in it's desire to make shows about every little segment of pop culture starts I Love the 90's this week. And the first year (1990) is on right now.
Boner Kawanger Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 The problem with this so far is that too many "stars" from the 90s are on it complementing stupid stuff from the 90s. I'm not watching this to hear some guy from "90210" talk about how talented Michael Bolton was.
alfdogg Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 Odd. On the commercials they said it began on July 12, meaning tomorrow.
razazteca Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 It needs more Jay & Silient Bob. Less Backstreet Boys.
DMann2003 Posted July 11, 2004 Author Report Posted July 11, 2004 It needs more Jay & Silient Bob. Less Backstreet Boys. It's amazing how those two are in their 30's now, and yet they get into their gear and BAM- They're Jay and Silent Bob, they slip into those characters like it was nothing.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 The 90's really weren't that lovable, from what I remember.
Youth N Asia Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 It'll be 10 hours of Michael Ian Black and Mo Rocca making the same tired jokes over and over again.
godthedog Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 The 90's really weren't that lovable, from what I remember. shut your mouth, ho. the 90s had independent cinema, 'mystery science theater 3000', bill hicks, 'the state', gangsta rap, alternative radio, super nintendo, 'the simpsons' and the bisexual goth chick revolution.
Art Sandusky Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 I wish their "marquee" people could tell an actual joke or really rip on something instead of doing the overly sarcastic, laudatory comment thing over and over again.
starvenger Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 I wish their "marquee" people could tell an actual joke or really rip on something instead of doing the overly sarcastic, laudatory comment thing over and over again. You gotta expect that. I mean, they take someone into a studio, have them talk about different things, and cut it up to fit into the show. Hell, for all we know they took the same comments and replayed them 2000 times instead of having them say the same thing 2000 times...
LaParkaYourCar Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 Well here we go. I still think they should have waited, but oh well.
LaParkaYourCar Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 Who thought it was a good idea to give Michael Ian Black a special segment??? Where's Donal Logue?
LaParkaYourCar Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 OMG~!!! I almost fell off my chair at Hulk Hogan wearing the Humpty nose!!!
razazteca Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 In order to save the rain forest we shall has sex on the dance floor.
LaParkaYourCar Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 Is Jay reading off a cue card? I think Kato Kalin will become my favorite part of this series. He has no problems making fun of himself.
razazteca Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 Well he can't remember anything since he is a stoner......SNOOGINS
Jobber of the Week Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 I'm tired of these shows, but I guess I'll watch when 1993 comes on and check it out.
cabbageboy Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 That 1990 episode was crappy, and that's mainly because 1990 itself was crappy. I mean honestly now, is there anyone out there with a smidge of nostalgia for MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice, or the Lambada? The bewildering thing is that they really didn't trash that stuff all that much (even Michael Bolton), yet from what I saw of the 1991 show they were badmouthing grunge quite a bit. Do they not have a clue about their target audience here?
BX Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 The Grunge generation? Not anymore, smithy boy. VH1's demographic is MTV's demographic, no longer a music station for people with attributes like taste and intelligence...
algrim Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 The 90's gave us the rise and fall of TECHNO.
razazteca Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 90s was House, Club, Rave, Electronica, DJs as music acts.
Eclipse Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 The year 1991 has passed on the show, and they did show some of the best moments... The show I LOVE AND I HOPE TO GOD A DVD COLLECTION IS RELEASED: Family Matters. Man, Jaleel STILL LOOKS THE SAME...LOL Pee Wee jerks his pee pee....WHY! WHY! I remember being pissed off and wondering why the show was gone when I was 6......and then I found out and I laughed...LOL.
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 I mean honestly now, is there anyone out there with a smidge of nostalgia for MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice, or the Lambada? :takes out Lambada: ::raises hand::
BrokenTiger Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 I mean honestly now, is there anyone out there with a smidge of nostalgia for MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice, or the Lambada? :takes out Lambada: ::raises hand:: *Seconds the Lambada nostalgia* And somewhere deep in my closet, lies a pair of huge-ass Mc Hammer-like pants. ...well, more due to the fact that I'm FAT. Not that I'm a fan or anything. *sings '2 Legit 2 Quit'*
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 The 90's really weren't that lovable, from what I remember. shut your mouth, ho. the 90s had independent cinema, 'mystery science theater 3000', bill hicks, 'the state', gangsta rap, alternative radio, super nintendo, 'the simpsons' and the bisexual goth chick revolution. I definitely like three of these. The 90's weren't tacky enough, though. The 80's have that embarassingly gaudy quality that makes it lovable and hateable. The 90's was the cleaner, nicer side of the 80's that lends it a middle of the road type of quality which should really be referred to as "I like the 90's."
Spaceman Spiff Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 "Grunge" wasn't huge until 92/93, so I don't get why they stuck it in 91.
razazteca Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 Wasn't the 90s when Randy Savage and the Rockers were wearing the brightest clothes as possible...........damn the floresent colors. And fringed t-shirts were so tacky. 90s Geek: Bright Generic shirt that changes colors LA Gear sneakers that light up or British Knights basketball shoes Acid wash jeans Blade style sunglasses.....forgot brand name but I think it was O'Neil Mullet
Boner Kawanger Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 I'm getting really tired of the dancing baby. Again.
