(this may not apply so much for the Australians on the board)..

my father's side lived in Northwest Arkansas for awhile, some of them are still down there.

my mother's side is either from Germany via Iowa (her father's side) or whereever in West-Central Missouri

Yay German-Irish!

you guys?

Both parents lived in the Pittsburgh area. That's all.

I have no clue where I came from other than that. My mom was adopted, and while she's tracing her roots I don't give two shits about it. Whenever she lets me know about my "new family" I just skip over reading that.

Legend has it that my one great-great-great-grandsomethingorother was found along one of those wagon trails back in the 1800s.

But I really don't care about all of that though -- I'm an American...

Scotch-Irish heritage.

Meaning not only Scottish and Irish but Scotch-Irish refers to a group of Scots that relocated to Ireland in the 1900's. Oh, and I have some Black Irish in me too.

my grandfathers were from Arkansas and Mississippi respectively, and my grandmothers were from Michigan( but moved from Alabama as an infant) and Ohio. I'm mostly black but on my dad's side his father's grandfather was white, and my mom's side has a whole bunch of racially mixed people along the lines.

Mom's side is, basically, "Western Europe's Greatest Hits!" Lots of French, English, some Irish and Scottish,...

Dad's is more German than anything. They first came to Ontario before WWI, then spread out in Indiana and a bunch of other terrible places like that. Back in Germany, my family was nothing but theives/goat herders/copper miners.

All in all, I think there may have been two non-white people in our family. One was, supposedly, a Cherokee woman that Sam Houston slept with.

Mostly Irish and German. My maternal great-grandfather emigrated from Germany, and his eventual wife emigrated from Ireland. On my father's side, there's some more Irish and German, along with English and (sigh) a smidgen of French.

My father's grandmother was born and raised in Glasgow, and moved to America with her husband, who was from London. So my dad is primarily Scottish and English, more so Scottish as his mother's grandparents were also from Scotland and Scottish-laden villages in Canada.

My mother is half Portuguese, as her father was from Portugal and moved to America during his teens, and her mother has roots in France, Italy, Ireland, Germany, and even Spain, I think.

I like to consider myself a Scotchuguese bastard.

About 90-95% German, the other 5-10% is a mixture of pretty much everything European. We have traced our family back quite a ways, with a defrocked Cardinal from the Catholic church being one of the more notorious members.

Oh, I'm a pleasant bunch of things. On my mom's side, my ancestors moved from Bohemia (which would later become my username) and Poland to America. My dad's side is German, Quebecois, and English. My great-grandfather on that side was Jewish too, and I shit you not, looked exactly like Groucho Marx. This makes me a Beaver-trapping Nazi Limey Polock Czech Jew.

Lots of you Irish and German bastards around here.

And yet we Hispanics are supposedly the majority in this country, and almost no representation here.

I'm Irish/Australian :P

My Dad was born in England (Although he is 100% Irish) and my Mum was born in Australia (Her family has been in Australia basically since the early 1800's).

1/4 Australian (May be technically Scottish instead... Grandmother's from Aussie land but her maiden name is associated with the Campbell Clan of Scotland)

The other 3/4 is a mix between German, Irish, Italian, and several other ethnicities, mainly from Western Europe.

Germany is the Fatherland while majority of the hispanics are in hiding just like the Dames and are using alias to hide from authority.

Dutch German from my paternal grandfather's side, a mix of English, Welsh and Irish on my paternal grandmother's side.

French Canadian on my maternal grandfather's side, French and a hint of Native American on my maternal grandmother's side.

I prefer 'mutt'.
