TheBigSwigg Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 I just realized after reading around that TNA is serious about the name "Kings of Wrestling" for Jarret, Hall, and Nash. Holy shit that's a horrible name. Anyhow, I was also thinking about how, except for Savage, the ME for Turning point is Old Timers vs Young Guys. Tell me two things: 1. What name do you think would better suit Jarrett, Hall, and Nash 2. Who should be in Savage's place to make the face team younger.
Corey_Lazarus Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 .5) Yes, the name could be gheyer. They could be called "The Big Swigs." 1) A better name would be, oh, "Cancer, Inc." 2) Truth. Sabin. Lynn. Daniels. Anybody on the roster that isn't being used properly, really.
starvenger Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 1. What name do you think would better suit Jarrett, Hall, and Nash The Old Boys Network. I don't actually have anything good for a real name. 2. Who should be in Savage's place to make the face team younger. Just about anyone, really. I'd actually put Monty in there since it's unlikely that TNA would let Hall and Nash squash him.
TNABaddboi Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 The name does suck and Monty Brown could be in Savage's place.

Boredom Inc? Has-Beens United? -=Mike
natey2k4 Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 "The Elite" There not going to give them the name "The Elite" when Jarrett already had "The Elite Guard" and they are toast.
The Amazing Rando Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 I don't much mind the name as long as I can hear Hall & Nash duet on "We Three Kings (of the Main Event are)" shit...even *I* would pay money to see that.
Guest Coffey Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 It wouldn't be a bad name for a wrestling show/ppv, but it sounds horrible as a name for a faction.
razazteca Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 1) WCW 2) Monty Brown, Abyss, Raven
slimm44 Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 The name isn't that bad, it's a mock of the nWo without the name. It fits because Jarrett claims to be "King of the mountain" while Nash and Hall have dominated for the most part during the past decade or so.

Dominated in a company that died while they were on top and didn't do shit in the WWE. I love that TNA thinks guys who haven't drawn in years will suddenly do so in TNA. -=Mike
Guest Coffey Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 I don't know if TNA is expecting them to draw as much as they're expecting them to be attention grabbers. If people start talking about TNA, maybe they'll tune in and TNA can create a draw of their own. Then again, what's the difference? I have no idea what I'm talking about, I just wanted to post.
razazteca Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 But will the Kings of Wrestling put anybody over or will they make AJ Styles lose his smile?
Guest Fook_Theta Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 I keep hearing this is for publicity.. Well, where have you seen an ad for their return to the hexagon circle? I've seen TNA PPV ads a few times on different channels, but I also have satellite. The ads are well made, obviously, but I've yet to see a KINGS OF WRESTLING promo ad. I do remember some hyping for Sting, but that has been a while back. I'm not seeing where they plan on getting all this publicity other than the Best Damned Sports show powerhour they might start running. Which it would seem to be pretty bad for business if they keep allowing the BDSS people to book the matches.
RHR Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 Howsabout Ace(s) of Base? They were almost over 10 years ago, too. I'd get Savage out of there and put Monty in. And, have him completely destroy Nash and Hall while Jarrett runs away...leading to a Monty/Jarrett ME at the next PPV.
King Cucaracha Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 Nashville World Order. It'll play well in Orlando, eh?
Magus Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 Its sad that they think that the ONLY way to be a pro wrestling company is to copy everything that WCW did. Is there no more room for ideas that are actually ORIGINAL???

razazteca Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 So how soon before 3LK, Billy Gunn, Rico, Palumbo become the B-Team?

There was, and still is, an audience for quality wrestling, that is supported by good promos and angles. They key is to using wrestlers in key positions that people will not only tune in to see, but pay to see also. The only way to compete with Vince is to do something totally different to WWE. Whether that means a strong wrestling with some angles and promos, or pure wrestling, or MMA, or Lucha, it doesn't really matter. It just has to be different to Vince, and something that he isn't offering. You can't out-Vince Vince, and anyone who tries is an idiot. That's what made Russo look stupid on the Nitro restart, when he said his goal was to beat Vince McMahon at his own game, because you can't do it.
slimm44 Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Well apparently Hall and Nash signed an 8 show deal. With five left they would be gone after Turning Point. I don't think they would be there only for one month. So take it for what it is worth.
natey2k4 Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 True, this is a lower rent version of WCW... but maybe TNA will right the wrongs in the end.. and our Monday Night Wars (if their TV deal gets locked up) can come back for a least awhile. I think TNA has a lot left in the tank, not enough to beat WWE, but enough left in the tank to become a WCW like, #2.
cynicalprofit Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 They should call their group the "OGs" cause, well, they are....in wrestling. As for the younger team, I'm all for Raven, Styles, and Daniels. Raven just because I'm a fan, and he can spew about how its guys like Nash that hold talent down, like himself.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 I think TNA has a lot left in the tank, not enough to beat WWE, but enough left in the tank to become a WCW like, #2. They are well on their way to becoming WCW-like. Just not the way the pipe dreamers would like.

TNA has: 1) shitty booking 2) Horrendous main events 3) An inability to face that nobody is drawing. TNA is alive solely because Panda has no problem with them bleeding money. There is nothing in the tank and FSN, clearly, isn't putting a lot of faith in them ever being a big draw for the network. -=Mike
