nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2005 There are albums which are nothing but sampling, but they can't get officially released. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Negativland's Helter Stupid. I wouldn't say it's nothing but samples, but at least 90% of it is. And while I'm talking Negativland, their renditions of "I Still Haven't Found (What I'm Looking For)" are awesome and really need to be heard ... http://negativland.com/audiogadgets.html It cracks me up that the song/album was banned. I guess the Edge dug it, but Bono was a prick about it (allegedly).
Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2005 "Bridging the Gap" Peas/De La Soul Much different than the crap out now, eh? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> De La Soul made BEP look functionally retarded here. I don't like the Peas, but I find their unapolgetic grab at pop stardom far less offensive than their alt-rap shit.

snuffbox 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2005 My tickets just came in the mail for the G. Love and Special Sauce/Blackalicious show at the Orpheum in Boston on the 26th of this month. I'm sorta excited to go. I don't know much about Blackalicious, but I've heard good stuff about them and I'm a G.Love fan. Should be a fun show. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I saw Blackalicious last night...good stuff. Gift of Gab is mad genius live.

Guest 5.0Fanatic Report post Posted November 15, 2005 I'm really digging Vaux's Beyond Virtue, Beyond Vice lately, So far I'm thinking its the best album that I'VE bought this year based on the fact that I never heard of them but within 30 seconds was rocking out. An opening band for a concert I went to see got sick, so Vaux covered for them with about 2 hours notice and proceed to rock the place. After their set I immediatly snagged their CD and a shirt. Are there better albums out there, definitly, but this CD just owns all kinds of ass for me. I havn't been able to put it down since I got it. Also, they've put on the best stage show I've seen for a band with their budget

Ed Wood Caulfield 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2005 Are country music artists now getting music video ideas from rap videos? I just saw a video for a song called "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" on VH1 Country that was pretty much the country music version of 50 Cent's "In Da Club". She said Ashlee had two opening bands (can't remember the bands names) and she only played for an hour. The Hell type of headlining show is that? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My friend went to a 50 Cent concert at the local minor league hockey rink about two years ago (A few months after he released his first album). Fabulous opened and played a half hour and then Fiddy came on and played 40 minutes, show over. I know 50 Cent only had one album at the time, but come on, why are you doing that show in front of an 8000 seat arena? I also heard 50 was completely out of breath by the end of the concert. I'm glad I didn't go to that show. On that same vein, Ashlee Simpson came here and according to everyone, played an hour. I'm not really surprised at that, for someone with two albums and for the venues, she's playing, an hour seems to be the right length for a show.
haVoc 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2005 West to get Artist Achievement Award November 18, 2005 NEW YORK --Kanye West will receive the Artist Achievement Award at the 2005 Billboard Music Awards, which will be presented Dec. 6 in Las Vegas. Past recipients of the award, which recognizes both artistic excellence and Billboard chart success, include Rod Stewart, Eric Clapton, Madonna, Garth Brooks, Aerosmith, Janet Jackson, Cher and Destiny's Child. The awards will air live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Fox (8 p.m. EST). "Kanye West has not only had a huge impact on R&B/hip-hop, he has transformed modern music as a whole," Tamara Conniff, co-executive editor of Billboard, said in a statement Thursday. The Billboard Music Awards recognize the year's leading artists and songs as determined by performance on Billboard's weekly charts. What happen to artist having longevity before getting these awards?
King Kamala 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2005 The only way I can explain that is Kanye's been a producer for a couple years now. But even then, I think he's only been producing 5 or so years. Plus, it's the Billboard Music Awards, if you're taking it somewhat seriously, you're missing a few fries in your Happy Meal.
