Myxamatosis Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 Positvely Kanyon was the greatest character in the history of WCW. Bar none. My favorite Positvely Kanyon moment was his Kanyon Cutter on a ring crew member on Thunder. Simply amazing.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 My favorite was when they were doing some interview or two guys were talking and they walk away and suddenly Kanyon just nails some guy who was reading some papers.

Brocklock Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 My favorite was when they were doing some interview or two guys were talking and they walk away and suddenly Kanyon just nails some guy who was reading some papers. Those two guys were Palumbo and Stasiak, I think. I also remember during that segment him disappearing then reappearing right in front of the camera to yell BANG!!!!!!!!! That was classic.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 I wasn't sure if he did the Bang part on that one or when he attacked the guy setting up the ring.
Myxamatosis Posted December 9, 2004 Author Report Posted December 9, 2004 The blonde wig itself was hilarious. It was just so scraggly-looking. I loved it.
Special K Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 He may have done it multiple times, but when he did it to the ring crew member, the camera was about 150' away from him. He disappears for like a second and a half and then reappears right in fron of it for a big "BANG!". I didn't even notice the camera cut when I watched this. It was to die for.
Placebo Effect Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 Positively Kanyon was one of the reasons why I loved the Russo Era of WCW. Sure, it led to absolutely no upward mobility for Kanyon, but as a fan and not a smart mark, I fucking loved Russo's booking.

There was another segment where he did it to a crew member outside the arena. Someone was pulling away in their limo, and the camera stayed steady for a few seconds. All of a sudden, Kanyon runs out, Kanyon Cutter, BANG!
Spaceman Spiff Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 WWE so missed out by releasing Kanyon.
Guest T®ITEC Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 The one on Mike Sanders, after Mike had already taken like two beatings that night. He had slowly stumbled to his feet, and then... death. It was fantastic. Does anyone have a video of that Call ATT ad? I missed it, and it's been my one regret in life.
Youth N Asia Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 I was thinking of the Mike Sanders piece too. I think he ended up beating Crowbar or Dave Flair in his first match, he used JJ's guitar. So backstage Daffney attacks him, he gets up later and Jarrett gives him a guitar shot, he gets up later again and Kanyon nails him with a Kanyon cutter...great stuff One of the few FEW bright spots from that era.
tbondrage99 Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 My absolute favorite without a shadown of a doubt has to be when someone was getting interviewed backstage and then from out of nowhere Kanyon hits the Kanyon Cutter on the Camera man who promply falls to the ground and were all in the dark as to what happened until Kanyon jumps down on the floor facing the camera and yells "Bang!" Thats a moment that Im sure to never forget.
MillenniumMan831 Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 I loved it when he channeled his Men at Work days and drove the forklift that supported Judy Bagwell.
Guest Sturgis Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 Didn't he once do the Kanyon Cutter as a shadow on a wall?
alfdogg Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 Absolutely it's the Kanyon Cutter in front of the arena.

Nightfall Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 I remember one Kanyon Cutter from a Thunder where it showed some guy walking from the left to the right on the screen outside, next to some grass. Kanyon just randomly runs behind him and cuts him, and does the "BANG!". It wasn't the parking lot one some have mentioned.
Si82 Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 My absolute favorite without a shadown of a doubt has to be when someone was getting interviewed backstage and then from out of nowhere Kanyon hits the Kanyon Cutter on the Camera man who promply falls to the ground and were all in the dark as to what happened until Kanyon jumps down on the floor facing the camera and yells "Bang!" Thats a moment that Im sure to never forget. My favourite too. From DDT Digest: In the back Gene Okerlund talks to Lance Storm and Kidman. Storm says that he's not the rest of the guys in the locker room as he doesn't yell to get his point across, pose, and he sure as hell doesn't dance because when you're from Calgary, Alberta, Canada all you have to do is wrestle to get your point across. Kidman then says that him and the Filthy Animals used to be friends but a couple of weeks ago they turned their back on him and that their past is going to haunt him. HAH! Kanyon then runs in and gives a Kanyon Cutter to the camera man and then gets down on the ground and does the Diamond and yells out "Bang!" Classic!
DangerousDamon Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 I remember when Kanyon was talking to someone in the locker room and was getting ready to give them the Kanyon cutter, but the guy goes "Don't you even think about it." Then Kanyon has this sad look on his face. Or am I imagining that?

Jericholic82 Posted December 10, 2004 Report Posted December 10, 2004 how about the book he carries positively kanyon title with pic of him on it classic he used to hide a brick in there and clobber people with it too bad they never got a chance to follow it up with a match between him and DDP
DrVenkman PhD Posted December 10, 2004 Report Posted December 10, 2004 I liked it when Cat kept calling him DDP.
Guest T®ITEC Posted December 10, 2004 Report Posted December 10, 2004 Anyone mention the gravy thing yet? He was back in catering and wanted some gravy for whatever food he was having. There was no gravy, so... Diamondcutter. And they played this out of nowhere, so it was delightful.
Placebo Effect Posted December 10, 2004 Report Posted December 10, 2004 how about the book he carries positively kanyon title with pic of him on it classic he used to hide a brick in there and clobber people with it too bad they never got a chance to follow it up with a match between him and DDP Don't forget his co-author Mark "Smoky" Madden. Kanyon: “Cut my music Monkey. They love me, they hate me, they’ll never get tired of reading my book, Positively Kanyon, it’s the kind of book you can’t just read once, you gotta read it, TWO TIME, TWO TIME, TWO TIME. As a matter of fact, I got up this morning gave myself the old self high-five, SHUT UP!!! And I read my new book, Positively Kanyon again, and it’s got me feeling real positive, so positive, I feel I can’t be beaten, so I’m going to put out an open challenge, so if anyone in the back is feeling froggy, come on out so you can FEEL, THE, BANG!!!!”
Jericholic82 Posted December 11, 2004 Report Posted December 11, 2004 thank you placebo for the quote
Jericholic82 Posted December 11, 2004 Report Posted December 11, 2004 yes I made it my sig for the day!!!! awesome!!!!!
Vampiro69 Posted December 11, 2004 Report Posted December 11, 2004 I am not sure if my Kanyon moment is the same that is mentioned as one of the above but here goes. On an episode of Thunder they are showing a dark outside shot of the arena from the distance in the parking lot. Nothing of note is taking place and there is a lone person walking around and although this guy is about 150 ft away you see a figure come out from behind a bush and give the guy a Kanyon Cutter, gets up and yells Bang! but they are to far away to be heard on camera. I believe that Tenay was annoucing and goes "Did that guy just get Diamond cuttered? Positively Kanyon was may favorite person from the Russo Era, followed by Mike Sanders, Lance Storm and Sean O'Haire.
JoeDirt Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 Kanyon with the cutter to the guy in the empty arena before Thunder was pretty awesome. Kanyon and heel Mike Tenay were by far the best things about WCW in 2000. Oh, and this was posted in another thread but not in this one: http://www.chriskanyon.com/video/043_positivelykanyon.avi
Positively Kanyon Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 The blonde wig itself was hilarious. It was just so scraggly-looking. I loved it. The greatest gimmick of all time! That wig was absolutely hilarious! As you can see from my username, I'm a huge PCK mark... Imagine how much I was marking out when Kanyon (and the wig) were beating up the Undertaker during the DDP/UT fued a few years ago.
