Movie moments you marked out for.

Recommended Posts

I gotta think the end of Dirty Harry when Harry finally shoots the sniper. Gotta love it. My dad said he said it at the theater and everyone clapped, haha.

Incidentally who in their right mind marked out for that fucking Kid in Matrix Revolutions?

John Wayne striding into the climactic gunfight in True Grit, six-iron and shotgun blazing.

Also, when Old Yeller got shot. Amazingly enough, I never saw this movie until about 3 years ago, as I played with dirt as a child and didn't even see cable or satellite television that I can remember until I was at least ten years old, while visiting my grandparents in Arizona. I digress.

When Old Yeller got shot, I laughed my fucking ass off at concept of telling kids "When you love and bond with something, it's going to get rabies and you'll have to kill it." What a romp. Jesus.

Clarence getting stabbed in the throat. Also "Dick... you're fired!" The guy getting shot in the balls. I may have to concede Robocop as my favorite movie.

"...Step aside, Butch."

- Pulp Fiction, which also involves shooting a man in the crotch.

Hell, the entire scene when Butch & Marsellus get some payback.

Also, Jules Winfield reciting Ezekiel 25:17, the line that made me a Samuel L. Jackson fan for life.

--

In The Shining, when Wendy goes through Jack's "All Work And No Play" novel and realizes he's been going crazy all this time.

--

The Bill VS Beatrix confrontation in Vol. 2.

--

In Collateral Vincent killing anything in sight in the club and then killing the cop that saves Max like it was nothing.

--

Basically all of Run #3 in Run Lola Run, where everything seems to come together for the couple.

--

The revealing of Andy Dufresne's escape in Shawshank.

--

In Lock Up, Stallone gets revenge on the asshole warden (played by Donald Sutherland) by strapping him to the chair and then tying himself to the switch. The guards know that if they kill him, the warden goes zap. Awesome.

Toshiro Mifune chopping up the safehouse in Yojimbo. I basically jumped out of my seat cheering the first time I saw it.

Hell, Toshiro Mifune in general makes me mark out

The fire fight in Boondock Saints

"Let's go" - The Wild Bunch

Morgan Freeman knocking that guy the fuck out in Million Dollar Baby

Juror #4 telling the racist juror to sit down and shut up in 12 Angry Men

Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse, and the Dueling Ducks in Who Framed Roger Rabbit

I sound more and more like a fanboy the more I post about it, but with Episode III coming up this stuff's going through my mind fairly often:

Qui-Gon Jinn saying "we'll handle this" as Darth Maul appears to face Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, and then Maul busts out the dual-bladed lightsaber and you just KNOW it's on like a motherfucker.

Indy shooting the sword-swinging Arabian in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

The Godfather

- Sonny's death

- The heads of the Five Families getting whacked during Michael's nephew's baptism

The Godfather Part II

- Kay: "Michael, why are the drapes open?"

- Vito Corleone returning to Sicily and killing Don Ciccio

- Vito Corleone whacking Don Fanucci

The helicopter drive-by (or would it be fly-by?) in The Godfather Part III

Malone (Sean Connery) "interrogating" a suspect in The Untouchables

Leon: The Professional

Leon: "Stansfield?"

Stansfield: "At your service."

Leon (handing something to Stansfield): "This...is from...Mathilda."

Stansfield (opens his hand and sees that it's a pin from a grenade): "Shit."

some of my favorite:

- Karate Kid: when Daniel kicks Johnny and wins the match i really mark out eeeeeeverytime i watch it, i love the music building up to the kick and when he does connect it's so damn satisfying. Great Ending.

- Rocky: in the first round when Apollo jabs Rocky alot and Rocky suddendly knocks him down with one uppercut. Mark our right there.

- Shaun of the Dead: love the "Don't Stop me now" scene.

- Army of Darkness: when Ash shoots the deaditie that comes out of the pit to the amazement of everyone and then does this kickass pose while putting the shotgun in his back.

- Freddy vs. Jason: the whole movie, when the New Line logo appears with both guys themes it's just the begining.

Also seeing Bruce Campbell in Spiderman 2. I was the only one in the pack theater who got the connection...

Dude, I saw the movie the day it opened, at the Uptown here in Washington D.C.

Maybe it was because, first day and all, a larger number than usual of comic geeks were in the crowd, but it brought a tear to my eye when Bruce appeared on the screen, and a sizable percentage of the viewing audience simultaneously cried out, "ASH!!!!!"

That was a mark out moment for me.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly:

- The triple threat gunfight

- Any scene with Tuco.

Star Wars Ep.I

- Darth Maul with dual lightsabers.

Hellboy

- Anytime Kroenen appears.

A Better Tomorrow 2

- The ending shootout. Somewhat ridiculous now, but still fun.

Drunken Master 2

- most of the fight scenes

Police Story I

- just watch Jackie Chan (during his prime) trying to kill himself in the name of entertainment.

- Samuel L. Jackson owning Ringo verbally at the end of Pulp Fiction.

- Budd and Bill's conversation in Kill Bill 2. They just bounce off of each other so naturally, so fluidly, I bought them being brothers based on it all. The blood slowly seeping through and raining down on O-Ren's face gives me chills as well.

- The scene in Dog Soldiers where Spoon is up against a werewolf in the kitchen with nothing left to defend himself...so he just goes absolutely batshit, hitting it with everything in sight, screaming like a nut the whole time. I've dubbed it the best man vs monster battle in cinema history.

- Threeway showdown in The Good, The Bad And The Ugly.

- 90% of Ichi The Killer

Donnie Darko: "Why don't you take off that silly man suit." plus the truth behind Patrick Swayze

Fight Club: The last twenty or so minutes.

JFK: The ending, and everything with Donald Sutherland

Who Framed Roger Rabbit: Dueling Pianos, "For A Good Time, Call Allison Wonderland", and the words "three year old dinky"

Punch-Drunk Love: "I beat up the bathroom. I'm sorry."

Instinct: The entire "What did I take from you" scene.

Apocalypse Now: The 'napalm' scene.

High Fidelity: The Rob vs. Ian dream sequences.

MST3K The Movie: "IT'S...THE AMAZING RANDO!"

Rocky IV- The intense buildup to the fight between Rocky and Drago, from them training, to the fight itself. The music is what made me mark out. Probably for the people who watched during it's initial release, it must have been better. The Cold War, IF I AM RIGHT, was still in effect.

Equillibrium-The entire fight scene with Bale and Taye Diggs.

Freddy vs. Jason-The theater I watched it in was awesome. Everyone was into the movie. WE POPPED huge when Kelly Rowland got served. EVERYONE POPPED even bigger when the guitar riff played when Jason and Freddy faced off. I LOVED IT. We started chants, and both sides were going for different ppl. Funny, at the end, I guess ppl went there drunk. A HUGE FIGHT broke out over the fact that Freddy won, and they almost had to call the police.....

The Magnificent Seven: When Britt (James Coburn) beats a guy in an old fashioned Wild West duel without even using a gun--he just chucks a knife into the guy's chest.

Star Wars Episode IV: When Han saves Luke in the Death Star trench.

Star Wars Episode V: When Vader busts in on the heroes in Lando's palace. Han KNEW he couldn't win, but he still stands and shoots at Vader, because Han was just a badass like that.

X-Men: After getting used to crappy movie adaptations of comic book movies, seeing Magneto use his powers for the first time, and Wolvie.

The Batman Begins trailer: Before "The Village" they showed the worst set of previews I'd ever seen. At the end they showed the Batman trailer where Bruce talks about looking all over the world and what's in the darkness, my friend and I had no clue what it was until the end when he goes, "Me..." and it shows him as Batman. Gave me hope that probably the coolest comic book character won't be totally misused.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid: The chase, where Butch and the Kid are running away from Lefors before they jump off the cliff. Such great chemistry between Redford and Neuman and Butch's refusal to believe there are people out there better than him is great.

Tons of parts of Goodfellas--the part where Henry talks about respect and torches the cars, the part where Henry beats up the guy that grabbed Karen.

As for something that hasn't happened in a movie yet that COULD happen and make me totally mark out soon--when they make Watchmen, if they make it good, when Rorschach first goes into a bar and totally ruins some punk's shit by breaking his fingers--and the whole prison scene where Rorschach, this little 5"6 guy, makes a whole prison fear him.

I like the fact they had the Han and Vader characters actually interact, since it was only done for that and the next 5 minutes until Han was frozen in carobonite.

Also it was pretty cool someone that was a non-Jedi actually tried taking him out... with a pistol. How did Vader deflect them? With his hand, or did Han just miss every time he shot?

The pen-stabbing and asskicking in Casino. Nicky's comeuppance, as well.

with his hand...

to delve further into the Darth Maul talk, I mark out for the final Obi-Wan/Maul dual, the sequence immediately following Qui-Gon's death as that last laser barrier shut down...that has to be the most intense, fast paced fight sequence of any Star Wars flick...sometimes I pop the DVD in just to watch that scene...Ewan and Ray park worked their asses off there...I can only hope Obi-Wan vs. Anakin lives up to the hype...

I'll go with the baseball bat beatdown at the end of Casino. Up until I saw that movie, I hadn't seen many other R-rated movies. That was the most brutal asskicking I had ever seen.

Another for me is the curb-stomp in American History X.
