APRIL 5--Claiming that Michael Vick gave her herpes, a Georgia woman is suing the star NFL quarterback for negligence and battery. According to the below lawsuit, Sonya Elliot, a 26-year-old health care worker, was infected with the sexually transmitted disease in April 2003 after an unprotected encounter with Vick at the athlete's Duluth, Georgia home. Elliott alleges that after testing positive for Herpes Simplex 2, she confronted the Atlanta Falcons star, 24, about her condition. "I've got something to tell you. I've got it," Vick admitted to her, according to Elliott's State Court complaint, which alleges that Vick then told her that "he had not known how to tell her about his condition, and that it was not something that he liked to talk about." Elliott's complaint also contends that Vick "apologized profusely" for not telling her he was infected with the STD. Elliot's lawsuit alleges that Vick has used the name "Ron Mexico" and, in a related court filing, her lawyers are seeking Vick's admission that he used the "Mexico" alias--and perhaps other fake names--"for the purpose of herpes testing and/or treatment." In her lawsuit, which does not specify monetary damages, Elliott states that she met Vick at a Virginia Beach nightclub in May 2001 and, shortly thereafter, began a close personal relationship with the football star (though the couple did not have sex until late-2002). Last December, Vick, the top overall pick in the 2001 National Football League draft, signed a ten-year, $130 million contract with the Falcons, the richest deal in league history. (17 pages)

I would just like to point out that Ron Mexico is one of the greatest aliases of all time.

I somehow can't grasp how anybody in this day and age would roll the dice on unprotected sex.

I wish the NFL didn't have a policy that bars people from getting custom jerseys with nicknames of players on the back, or I would get a Vick jersey with the name "Mexico" on the back.

You can get custom jerseys... they just have to pass a screening process for potentially offensive names and terms.

It took a fucking Act Of God for an LSU professor to get a replica Patriots jersey with Gay on the back and Randall Gay's number.

He pretty much had to call up the main office of the NFL's merchandising arm and get them to temporarily let the name "Gay" through the system since Randall Gay is a legitimate player (and Super Bowl champ!).

Something tells me that "Mexico" and "R. Mexico" will end up on the banned list very soon as a result of this.

This is also going to make for an interesting set of signs whenever Atlanta comes to town...

That's what I meant, but I probably didn't make it as clear as I should have.

Anyway, this is a story that could be Kobe-lite if ESPN takes it and runs with it. Especially with the alias and trying to get around some legal issues.

Still not a legitimate reason for a lawsuit.

No it isn't, but the chick Jose Lima gave an STD to won on appeal.

Like hell it's not. Tort of negligence. There's been a huge rise in non-disclosure of STDs as negligence cases in the past decade, and it's one of the most frequently won cases in civil courts.

Vick won't get hit for anything off this, but regular people do all the time.

Well if it is something that someone can get prosecuted or taken to court for, then Vick is in deep shit, considering the lengths he went to to conceal his STD.

While Vick is not in the clear in this if he did her and knew he had herpes, she should've known better being that she was a health care worker. Unbelieveable. In this day and age, she should have had him wrap it up. She knew better. That should damage a civil suit, IMO.

I'm not talking about just her, I'm talking about people in general. He's dumb because he could have gotten her pregnant or gotten an STD from HER and she's dumb because she DID get an STD.

Ron Mexico is classic. I wonder if he used an accent. Also this lady is absurd, she is a health care worker for christs sake and she went ahead with unprotected sex? Especially from an african american guy claiming to be named "Ron Mexico" ? Damn.......

Posted

No, no. He was claiming to be Michael Vick. He was Ron Mexico for the STD tests, because he didn't want anyone to trace it.

And I guarantee you that bitch was hoping to get preggers. At least she'll still gets her settlement, even if she did get an unexpected consequence on the side.
