I think most of the people on the forum agree that HHH needs to move out of the main event spotlight for a while after losing to Batista. My question is who would you have him feud with in the upper midcard after Backlash?

Looking at the upper level on Raw, here are the choices:

Batista: Obviously not a good plan. In order to continue the feud past Backlash, Trips would probably have to win the title back, and I don't think anyone wants to see that right now.

Shawn Michaels: A possibility, but considering they're not even a year removed from the "absolute, final conclusion" to an extremely long-spanning feud, this doesn't look like a good idea.

Shelton Benjamin: Got booed on Raw, and is looking like he'll definitely playing the heel in his feud with Jericho if he doesn't give a full-fledged turn. Probably not such a good plan.

Chris Jericho: Well, either he'll be the Intercontinental Champion or he'll be coming off yet another PPV loss, after publicly acknowleding that he was on a huge losing streak. Neither one fits with starting a feud with a man wrestling out of the main event for the second time in the last two years.

Chris Benoit: The first realistic choice so far. They could definitely build a feud out of their history, but it seems like it would really be anticlimactic at this point. HHH already got a win back, and if Benoit won, it could never come close to matching what they did at Wrestlemania.

Kane: Please god no. I almost think he needs to go back under the mask at this point, because his character's so fucking lost that it's almost unwatchable.

Well, I didn't start the thread thinking this, but looking at the dearth of options in the upper midcard, I think I'd have to go the unconventional route here, and say Ric Flair. They could just run a storyline where Trips blames Flair for both of the losses, and just go out in the middle of the ring, and beat the living fuck out of Flair to turn him face. There wouldn't be all that much mileage out of a Flair face turn, but if they cut back his schedule a little bit, or had him mentor a new up-and-comer, it could still work. More importantly, it would probably freshen up HHH's character a little bit to have him as a "lone wolf" instead of hiding behind a stable.

Thoughts?

HHH is not going to fight Flair until his 16th win most likely. What HHH should do is go around looking for new members for Evolution starting from the bottom and go up the roster. That way it opens up Batista for the top spot, while HHH can hog tv time on the rest of the show like he always loves to do.

HHH will go over Batista. They're burying Batista worse than they buried Benoit.

Realistically, it won't happen, but he should take a few months off, and jump to Smackdown around the time of SummerSlam and start fresh over there. Trade him for Undertaker and let him feud with Cena, and if they turn him eventually, JBL.

I hope he goes to Smackdown at the draft lottery. That would open up a world of new possibilities for feuds against HHH............oh who am I kidding, itll be the other half of the roster that HHH hasn't buried yet.

At this point I just hope he gets injured enough so he has to miss 3 or 4 months of tv. No matter what he does he'll be sucking up 20+ minutes a week.

Taking him off of TV for a few months is the best thing they could do for him. Of course, it'll never happen.

His quad can't be in that good shape, can it?

I found myself really hoping that he was hurt last night when Batista tossed him over the top rope. Blowing out one of his knees would've really worked there.

I really enjoyed when HHH feuded with Kurt Angle.

Do you think he should re-feud with Angle?

I hate to play Anglesault's advocate here, but considering the last time these two were wrestling each other it featured HHH pulling down Angle's tights and slapping his thong-laden ass, I'm in no hurry to seem them in the ring again.

Great point.

add to that the fact of the first major match between them (the three way with Rock at Summerslam 00) HHH gave Kurt a concussion not 1 min into the match.

and HHH jobbed to kurt at rumble 01 and NWO 02 so you know hes seething to get those wins back. (iknow he got some back but you know its never enough)

Too bad the Rumble loss was when Austin practically beat Triple H, and the night after No Way Out, squashed Angle in a rematch. Thats more than enough.

I also think Triple H should take a break because it would help refresh him and keep everything from being all about him on RAW all the time. I've never heard of them sying they couldn't find anything for Triple H to do nd now would be an obvious time for that if he really does put Batista over.

I think Triple H should have feuds with Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, and Shelton Benjamin (putting them ALL over) before taking some time off after SummerSlam. This time off would last until the Royal Rumble, in which he would be entered (and lose). Of course, for this to happen Edge would need to become Raw's top heel.

Nah, they're setting up contenders for Batista which is a helluvalot more than what they did with Benoit. As is, they're doing the exact same thing with Batista as they did with Benoit last year, except this time Batista doesn't have to share time with HBK.

HHH needs to go away for a long time for anyone on top to be successful. HHH on the show is a detriment because as long as he is on the show people are always going to keep their guard up and assume that the title is going back to him in due time, which means they won't invest their time into a new guy on top, because in a few months he'll just be gone.
