BorneAgain 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2005 Hmm, they seem to be pushing towards Booker-Angle based on these, so I'm guessing they feud after JBL wins the deciding matchup for the tournament, probably culminating at Judgement Day. I have to say if that's the case, I look forward to it.

JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2005 I'm so glad they gave Paul London mic time and seem to be taking the CW title feud seriously. Heidenreich being turned babyface? The Cena/JBL segment sounds kind of lame, but oh well.

Eddie Vs Angle should be a damn good match no doubt. Paul London, the cruiserweight Champion in an actual storyline over the cruiserweght title! Carlito's Cabana, with the whole MNM/Rey Mysterio thing. Heidenreich getting face pop? Booker Vs Angle feud this show is stacked. I'am really looking forward to it. JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2005 ... A SPINNING WWE World Title Belt? No wonder I've watched Smackdown once in 2005. Although if PWInsider's spoilers are correct, it's going to stand for Mercury, Nitro, and Melina (since Joey Matthews is going to be Joey Mercury). Taker666 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2005 ... Good point, but if everyone got their panties in a bunch over a useless title like the US Belt, I'm shocked everyone isn't doing worse for the WWE Title. The real WWE Title. this is why.. ITS...NOT...A...BIG...DEAL! its still the WWE title, with a new look(for now), Stone Cold did it to with the Smoking Skul belt and it was just as gimicky. the fans are gonna jump all over it, when you turn on SD!, theres gonna be tons of replica Worldlife WWE titles and signs just like the Spinner US title. its gonna be a instant money maker for the WWE. the new WWE title design could only be seen as a positive thing. the only people pissed off about it are "Wrestling Traditionalist" as Cena saids it. and quite franky, he was right. JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2005 Really detailed spoilers from Keith Lipinski: Crowd about 80% full as a few sections off camera were closed off. Hot crowd though all night long. 1 (most likely a Dark Match) Rene Dupree defeated Mark Jindrak when he rolled him up using the tights. To show how hot this crowd was, there was, and I swear to god on this, a Jindrak chant during this one. I couldn't write anything else after hearing that… Velocity Tapings - 2. Chavo Guerrero beat Shannon Moore with the Gori Special Bomb, decent back and forth. Moore now is no longer the prince of punk as he was wearing some futuristic looking Shawn Michaels gear and had a red stripe across his face. Chavo was over with the crowd which saluted him with a "Chavo" chant of their own. 3. Scotty 2 Hotty beat Nunzio with the worm. Said to have some nice spots, including Nunzio attempting the worm himself. Scotty received an amazing pop. Really, it's 2005 and Scotty 2 Hotty got like an amazing pop. Nunzio's version of the worm was nice, and some decent back and forth from both guys. Nunzio turned Scotty's bulldog to setup into the worm into a scoop sidewalk slam for a near fall. Scotty did the worm, it seemed a little more current with some new sexy movements for the win. 4. Luther Reigns beat Funaki in a squash with his reign of terror. Funaki got 3 seconds of offense at best. Steve from Newcastle England, a nice fellow who has followed the WWE around the US since Mania said Luther was "brillant." Keep in mind he also said Jeff Jarrett was also "brilliant." Funaki worked on Luther's knee with some dropkicks, but it was no match for the power of the former Max Impact. I was hoping this match was for the number one announcer position on smackdown. 5. Hardcore Holly & Charlie Hass beat Spike Dudley & Akio in a good match. STOP THE PRESSES: Charlie Hass did the GARVIN STOMP~! on Akio during this match. That alone should make it ****. Another note: both Spike and Akio looked less flesh colored then usual. Hell, I'll just say it here, it seems Spike in addition to getting Jim Niedhart's beard, got himself a TAN~! Good match, with decent back and forth. One cool spot saw Akio do a tarantula like move on Haas's neck with his legs as his body dangled outside the ring. Holly hit Akio with a hard chop to release him but on the outside Spike used the Acid Drop using the apron of the ring. Finish came after Akio attempted an enzigiri on Holly, but Holly caught the leg and countered with an Alabama Jam. Decent, considering these for men are still employed as of this second. Smackdown tapings: Signs in the crowd: "Joe Rogan Sent Us" "only 353 days until wrestlemania" 1. Booker T vs. Orlando Jordan for the US Title (with JBL doing commentary) went about two minutes. Booker did the spinarooni and the Basham Brothers ran in the ring to beat on Booker. Booker was saved by the Big Show. Teddy Long came down and turned it into a handicapped match tonight "holla holla playa, it's not GAME OVER, it's just beginning" and he told them to "ring the bell." 2. Booker T & Big Show beat the Basham Bros (wearing dress slacks instead of tights) and US Champion Orlando Jordan in a handicap match when Booker T pinned Doug Bashim-Kim after the axekick. This was also very quick and short, as Booker T and Big Show are friends tonight, but they will face off next week. After the match, Show and Booker laughed at JBL as he berated the cabinet, and pushed around Doug Basham for the loss. 3. Torrie Wilson beat Dawn Marie in a very special and thankfully short "Divas Match" after a jumping neckbreaker. My partner in Crime young Gregg Allinson was excited "finally a diva I recognize!" He then asked me "do you remember when these two used to make out?" Which made me ask him "do you remember when these two were related?" It went 4 minutes, and there was a retro "we want puppies chant." They did the famous diva tribute to Guerrero-Malenko rollup rollup spot, Dawn choked Torrie with what appeared to be her breasts but we later learned was the ring rope. Finally Diva Torrie hit the jumping neckbreaker for the pin. -A video of the Australian tour, which for a while we only got the audio for with no video, it was spooky. Cena, when shown in the video, got an enormous pop and described the crowd as "almost like a human display" and said "they had to make seats" for the show. -The Debut of Carlito's Cabana, I don't think since the "Café de Rene" have I been as excited for a WWE interview segment. There were two palm trees set up in the corners of the ring and a hammock stretched out the palm trees as well. There were two green beach chairs, a BUSHELL OF APPLES~!, and two coconut glasses with faces. Sadly the hammock did not come into play during the segment. Carlito said that piper's pit and the highlight reel were not cool. As he promised us his own show. He then talked about Chicago's OPRAH~! Carlito "doesn't like Oprah, I don't plan on giving you guys some cars, but I do have apples but if you disrespect me, I'll spit in your face." No one received Apples from Carlito this evening. No wonder he's a heel. Carlito then called the Chicago Cubs loveable losers, "like my first guest Rey Mysterio." Rey come out to a decent pop. Carlito was "so sorry about what happened last week (against JBL), where you could have become WWE champion." Was JBL champion last week? Carlito told Rey that Eddie screwing up your first ever title shot was not cool. Rey agreed and told everyone he hasn't talked to Eddie since last week which is remarkable since they've been friends for so long, and they also tagged up at several of the WWE's Australian events last weekend. Rey told Carlito he was stirring up trouble between the tag team champions (Rey & Eddie just in case you forgot) "Eddie is my family, big brother, he sees everything (yes, he said this!) Whatever problems we have we will work them out. I will get a chance to be WWE champion." Carlito took the mic away and sun a line from the musical Annie about the sun coming up tomorrow. With his hair, Carlito would make a perfect Annie. Annie, I mean Carlito told Ray he was Positively Ray (he didn't say that) and Eddie was jealous of Rey. And he also said things for Ray "are going to get a whole lot worse." Suddenly, MNM arrived with their red carpet. Nitro did not come thru Melina's legs into the ring (she did her typical ring entrance though), but Melina looked 1000 hotter then she did the one time she was faceless on Raw. Carlito said "you guys are cool." Melina did the mic work and said they were in a "real city like Los Angeles, hanging with Nick and Jess, Paris, Ashton, etc." She asked (and this was a shoot) "it's so easy to be tag team champions" and called Rey "mucha lucha." Rey told Melina she was "dropping names when she should have been dropping breath mints girl." MNM attacked Rey and hit their double team finisher on him. The crowd wanted Eddie to come out so bad, but it didn't happen. Good segment, MNM seemed to get some pop from the crowd. I was estatic to see them, but it would have been 1000 times better if they had some vignettes to debut them on television, or ratings grabbers. I would expect MNM to face Eddie & Rey in the next week or so. -John Bradshaw Layfield backstage blamed his cabinet for his losing the WWE title to John Cena. He berated them and walked into a UPS deliveryman who with a box for John Cena. JBL signed for the package saying he was a "good personal friend" of Cenas. JBL believed the package at hand was Cena's new WWE smoking skull, I mean spinning belt. So, let me get this straight, JBL is steeling Cena's packages? How heelish is that? -Backstage, Rey Misterio is being checked out by the doctor who probably asked about what was happening with his blue eyes. Eddie came out and said he heard of what happened and was late because of his "ride." "Where were you when I needed you?" Eddie answered "I needed my ride. Why are you questioning me? Don't question our friendship. Tonight after I finish Kurt Angle, I'm gonna dedicate something to you, I'm gonna beat anyone in my way, and I'm gonna dedicate and wrestle for you." Good stuff, even though I was counfused about the dedication. -Cena came out for the TITLE BELT PRESTENTATION CEREMONY~! To an unbelievable pop. This just in: John Cena is extremely popular. He made the announcement that Mania XXII (or as he would later put it "double deuce") would be in Chicago next year. The pop was outstanding. Cena cut a promo, what happened to his once great but got ever so quickly stale raps? When did they get replaced with old wrestlers catchphrases and talk of chain gangs? Anyway Cena talked about everyone breating down his neck, expect for big show who is "huffin and puffin." He talked about JBL saying he stole his personal property on his important night tonight. JBL came out with his old title belt and the BOX~! He said Cena was leaving the title laying around a locker room, and promised to "bang up this" and blow up the box. JBL called himself a "WWE history superstar" (he flubbed his promo) and a WRESTLING GOD~! He also told us twicehow he hates the hip-hop. It's official another west texas redneck thinks rap is crap. I thought this was odd since Cena no longer raps to begin matches and two because that album of his has been delayed so many times. Bradshaw let us know he was "born to be the king of this business" and called Cena a "bling bling side show." JBL opened the box, it was slimy stuff inside, like fish heads or something. Cena called it "a gift for you" and asked "what do you get for the best man who has everything?" Cena told JBL he went to the finest slaughterhouse in chicago and got the one thing JBL doesn't have and is missing. GUTS. JBL acted like he was going to puke here. Cena went after JBL and poured the guts on him. It sounds better then it came off, as they really needed more guts here. Cena said some catchphrases and talked about being a franchise and talked about making an iMPACT~! as a belt came down from the ceiling. It was a huge golden shiny belt with lots of bling, and a spinning WWE logo. Cena let us know "our time is now" as the segment finally ended. 4 Heidenreich defeated an unnamed African-American male opponent who received no introduction whatsoever. A squash. Before the match heidenreich handed a note to referee ltl nach Charles Robinson. Perhaps he was asking him to prom. Anyway, short and sweet. After the match, Heidenreich put his fallen oppoenent in the corner, and got the poem from Robinson and decided to favor us with the poem. "I wish everyone here was my friend" he told us, as "we're all here together in the windy city and I have a poem about breaking wind." I hopefully taped this right on my machine..I'll check tomorrow. Tazz really seemed to enjoy it, as the crowd. -Yes, another backstage segment, as Booker T was in a photo session with his wife the lovely Sharmell (Nitro Girl Paisley) was pumping him up. "That’s the money shot" she told him. Angle showed up and talked down to Booker and said he was a 5 time WCW champion. Sharmell got in Angle's face and Angle mocks Booker for having a woman defend him. Sharmell mentioned how Eddie beat Angle at wrestlemania last year and asked if Angle could "dig that sucka" -Nope, not another one of those matches, but another segment! YAY~! WWE Cruiserweight champion Paul London came down with his fringy boots, his Cruiserweight title and a big bandage on his head. He has 18 staples in his head from last week and the "doctors refuse to let me wrestle" but he's there for a fight tonight and calls out for Chavo Guerrero. Guerrero came to the ring and tells London that he stole the title and never defeated Guerrero for the title. The injury "affected your memory, as you stole the title and never beat me one on one." Guerrero tells London he's a man of honor and won't go after London while he's hurt. "My business is that cruiserweight title and I’m the greatest cruiserweight of all time." Chavo told London. Billy Kidman attacked London from behind, and they wrestled for a bit until London hit a beautiful DDT on the belt and hit the LONDON STAR PRESS~! which looks awesome with the fringe spinning. Good stuff. -An ad for John Cena's rap album aired. Titled "You Can't See Me" featuring "bad bad man" and "the time is now" . The date of the release (May 10th) was not noted. The cover is Cena's new title belt. Here is the tracklisting: 1. Time Is Now, The 2. Don't F*ck With Us 3. Flow Easy 4. Right Now 5. Make It Loud 6. Just Another Day 7. Summer Flings 8. Keep Frontin 9. We Didn't Want You To Know 10. Bad, Bad Man 11. Running Game 12. Beantown 13. This Is How We Roll 14. Know The Rep 15. What Now 16. Chain Gang Is The Click 17. If It All Ended Tomorrow -Next week: Big Show vs. Booker T in the tournament for the #1 contender -The ring announcer noted to us Wrestlemania is 357 days away, I guess the guy with the sign is either a fucking liar or can't count. He informs us to get forms for tickets as we leave the building. The forms are standard issue postcard fare and don't ask important questions like # of tickets, section of tickets, but important stuff like "how many WWE PPPV events have you watched in the last year." You can register yourself at wrestlemaniapresale.wwe.com 5. In an outstanding match up with a bad finish Kurt Angle pinned Eddie Guerrero in about 21 minutes of a fantastic match. Lots of Eddie chants tonight as next to Cena (and any mention of wrestlemania) he got the pop of the night. Lots of great back and forth and tons and tons of nearfalls. This made up for the serious lack of wrestling on tonights show as both guys went for their finishers several times but were so well scouted they would slip out of their opponents moves. Ref was bumped the first time, Eddie grabbed a chair, threw it to Angle and played dead. Angle threw it back, Eddie threw it back to him, and Angle threw it out. Some nice hot potato. There were 3 amazing near falls here where the crowd was so close into believing Eddie was going to win. Eddie got a small package for a 2.99999. Angle went for a top rope angle slam, but Eddie pushed him off and attempted the frog splash. Angle got his knee's up and rolled him up for a 2.99999. Angle tried the Angle slam again but Eddie countered it into a DDT. Eddie went for the 3 amigo's suplexes and on the third one Angle hit the angle slam for a 2.99999. Angle was bleeded from the head (a hardway scratch, not a gusher) and put the straps down for the ankle lock. Eddie rolled him up for a 2 count. Angle tried the Angle slam again but Eddie reversed it with a beautiful arm drag. Eddie hit the 3 amigo's faster and got the frog splash for a 2.9999999999 count. Seriously the pop was deafening. Crowd was sizzling for this. Eddie went for a monkey flip and grabbed Angle's tights and for 30 seconds, Angle's buttocks were exposed to our section. As a totally hetrosexual man, I feel its necessary to say here and now he really does have a spectacular ass. Angle did another near fall and went for the ankle lock again, Eddie kicked him off until the referee was bumped again. Angle went outside to grab a chair but Rey Misterio came out and hit a modified west coast pop. Rey grabs the chair, and Guerrero sees him with the chair, so they have words as Rey's holding the chair up. Stupid babyfaces, why can't they just throw the chair down. Angle came from behind and bumped Rey, who knocks into Guerrero with the chair. Angle scores the pin with this tomfoolery as Rey is saddened by all of this as Eddie yells at Rey as the show ends. Eddie brings a chair in as Rey goes away. Awesome match bad finish. Dark: Cena defeated JBL after a belt shot (with the old belt I believe). I guess my first instinct is to say this was not as bad as their mania match (or "not mania bad"), of course that match was pretty awful IMO. JBL came out afterwards and wanted the crowd to show him some respect. He talked about Sammy Sosa and how "on drugs the cubs' couldn't win." And talked about Chicago being a sports powerhouse taking "a day off." He then rambled on about a curse, and how Chicago is the only city not to chant my name, or something like that and how he wanted a rematch against Cena and called on GM Teddy Long. He then said something about "bringing Johnny Cochran back from the grave." OH MY! Long came out and called himself the HNIC (head n***** in charge) asked if Chicago wanted to see Cena vs. JBL in a Mania 21 match. JBL calls Cena a one hit wonder like "buster." Douglas? Brother Buster from "Arrested Development." Cena told Long it was not up to him, it was up to the crowd or the chain gang. A "beat his ass" chant begins. Lots of headlocks, punches, slepper holds, and the like. Cena hit a superplex, the five knuckle shuffle, and pumped up the shoes for a 2.58. After a double clothesline spot. OJ (no, not the Cochran one, Orlando Jordan) came down and grabbed the belt. OJ got in the ring and attempted to hit Cena but missed. Cena Fued him. JBL tried a belt shot as the ref was getting Orlando out of the ring, he missed, Cena didn't. 1-2-3. Wow. That was lame. After the match Cena talked about how its been a "hell of a week" and how he is the "assiest dude in the pound" and how Chicago was the first time he was on WWE television (or the WWE ring, I'm sure he did a dark match before his TV debut in Chicago against Angle) he then told the croud at "deuce deuce" were gonna "tear this mutha down!" as the night ended
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2005 MNM is going to be really dissapointing. I remember Chris Masters being hyped to hell and everyone was all "Bring him up already!" Same with Nova...while not his fault, that flopped. Even Carlito. While not boring, Carlito had no place being in the ring with Austin/Piper at WrestleMania, it killed the segment. Still, the Smackdown! belts have bee on the likes of The Bashams (twice), Rikishi & Scotty, Rico, and ridiculous makeshift (but not untalented) teams like Eddie & Tajiri. Give them to Johnny Nitro and his friends. Who cares?
Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2005 3. Torrie Wilson beat Dawn Marie. The best win loss record in the WWE continues. Has she ever been defeated in any contests? I expect her to win a tag title or challenge JBL or something soon, because between Titty Contests and shitty wrestling matches she's goot a winning streak that would turn Goldberg green. Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2005 I think I'll actually watch this. From the sounds of everyone here, MNM looks like it could be quite good, although I don't know if it'll liven up the tag situation entirely. If Shawn moves to SmackDown for his rematch with Angle, MNM vs The Rockers could be really entertaining. At least, by looking at them on paper it would seem that way. And the SD belts could really use the help.
Dark Age 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2005 This sounds like the best SD in a long while. I'm impressed. Judgment Day doesn't look too shabby, either: John Cena Vs. JBL Kurt Angle Vs. Booker T Eddie Guerrero Vs. Rey Mysterio (or Eddie/Rey Vs. MNM.... maybe both?) Paul London Vs. Chavo Guerrero Orlando Jordan Vs. Big Show (?) Decent. I remember Chris Masters being hyped to hell and everyone was all "Bring him up already!" I don't recall anyone hyping Masters, because he has always been terrible. Even Carlito. While not boring, Carlito had no place being in the ring with Austin/Piper at WrestleMania, it killed the segment. No, not "even Carlito". Carlito wasn't even IN OVW before he debuted, at least not for long.
