NO ONE'S SAFE

RAW Preview for June 6, 2005

Let the draft lottery commence.

Who will be the first SmackDown! Superstar drafted over to RAW, and what will the ripple effect be across WWE? Chairman Mr. McMahon has made it clear that no one is safe from the draft process — and that trades can occur up until June 30. We also learned that Y2J will interview the first pick exclusively on The Highlight Reel.

Many Superstars have expressed concerns about being drafted, although last week Christian seemed excited by the potential of a move. But now the waiting is over. All that remains is for name No. 1 to be drawn — as a SmackDown! Superstar says goodbye to his familiar surroundings and heads to Monday nights. Don’t miss the event that could change the face of RAW.

Meanwhile, Triple H and Batista will make it official when they sign the contract that will put them inside Hell in a Cell. Last time these two were in the ring for a contract signing, Batista put The Game through a table with a Batista Bomb. Surely, both men will be ready for anything.

Batista: Yes, but don't call me Shirley!

My pick for the first person moved to Raw? RVD.

A) He's a big enough name that the fans wouldn't shit all over it after the weeks of buildup.

B) His pop would be even bigger, based on the fact that he hasn't been seen in a while.

C) He isn't TOO big of a name though, and wouldn't overshadow everyone else.

I'll second that concept, but I feel that it'll be a few smaller names until mid June, when something big will happen.

No they start with something big, someone who hasn't been doing much on SD! lately but is a big name or who just finished his feud. I'm thinking Angle, JBL or the Big Show

Im sticking with my theory that, in kayfabe, Smackdown has resigned Brock Lesnar, only for RAW to draft him from under their noses. The likelihood of this happening is slim to none, but I'd mark the fuck out if it happened.

I'm clueless as to who would be drafted. Tonight's show should be huge. I'm surprised the subtitle of the thread isn't 'Batista-Triple H Contract signing II'

I'm banking on a big name to get drafted tonight as Meltz eluded to last night on WOL. I also wonder how much Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals will possibly effect the rating, especially since this is the first night of the draft. Add to that the Finals Game 1 is Thursday night.

I like Haas going to Raw, then turning heel and having a feud with Benjamin over the IC title.

Once someone is drafted, can they be drafted back?

What I would hate is a bait and switch type thing kinda like they did with HHH where someone like Cena is drafted over to Raw tonight to show that big names can jump, only to get drafted back to SD in the next couple of weeks.

Ooh, boy, a public contract signing. Sounds unpredictable!

I called Jindrak earlier in the week as first draft. But having watched Smackdown and the backstage skit he was in, I'm changing my pick. I still think whoever gets drafted will go over Jericho though, so I'll hope Angle and expect Carlito.

I thought that, Christian, Edge or Triple H could in fact go back and forth.

Word going round is that among the "big name" swtiches, Angle is to be drafted to RAW, while Christian to SmackDown.

I'd like to see a big name start this Draft off with a bang. A Booker T, RVD, or even possibily Rey Mysterio would be great for RAW, Unfortunately, I'd say we'll see Nunzio, Spike or Heidenreich.

Raw Update

Credit: WrestlingObserver.com

It is expected that The Sandman and Dudley Boyz segment for the ECW PPV scheduled for RAW tonight will be them announcing their match for "One Night Stand." Whether or not they do it in typical WWE fashion, or with a little more ECW "attitude", remains to be seen.

Rob Van Dam claimed on a radio interview, as we have covered in detail here over the last 24 hours, that Joey Styles and Tazz would be calling the ECW "One Night Stand" show. The plan, as we were told at least as of last week, was for Joey Styles and Mick Foley to do the announcing. We're looking for more details on what's going on with that right now.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is listing a Fozzy concert for 8:00PM today at Pop's in Sauget. This means one of two things, either they listed the time wrong or Chris Jericho will be arriving to RAW very late. Listing the wrong time seems to be likely, as Jericho usually does concerts after RAW, if at all on Monday's.

nah i think they will start off with a decently big name, then the lower guys and then end with a bang. As for who this will be...I have no clue.

Did anybody else think this is going to be part of the angle that has to do with Jerichos new gimmick.

Just wanted to put that out there.

Maybe they'll start the show with the Highlight Reel, where he's supposed to introduce the newest member of Raw, and he simply doesn't show up because he scheduled the concert to overlap with the show. I think that would do great work on his new semi-heel too-good-for wrestling character.

That would be fine with me, as long as we get a Peep Show.

How cool would it be if they did that, and then the guy that was drafted was John Cena?

Nah, considering the state of Raw, I think the fans would feel he was in the right to do so.

It would be hilarious if he started explaining away his absence to Bischoff by telling him to look at how terrible the matches are, especially with a snappy liner like "Who wants to come here just to watch Triple H miraculously get yet another title shot"

...Here's to dreamin.

I wonder how far that venue is from the Raw site. It would be hilarious to see Jericho drag a camera man to the fozzy concert and have him conduct the Highlite reel at the concert.

It would be very rock starish to do and fits with his current character

I think they'll start off with a pretty big name tonight. Angle , RVD, or Undertaker would be the best choices. RVD because he can promote the ECW PPV, Undertaker because of his "shocking" entrance, and Angle to get him away from the god awful rape feud on Smackdown.

That would be hardcore funny. I so hope that happens.

That would be funny, but it would give me flashbacks to the ECW Fred Durst/Steve Corino feud.

Has Da Meltz said anything about the draft itself?

And I have NO clue who is going where. None at all.

Will they start the draft at 9? Is there only going to be one pick? Or a bunch like the last 2 years?

For those of you with questions about the format of the draft, here's what's been announced thus far:

For the next four Raw shows (starting tonight) and the next four SmackDowns, the lottery will take place with one pick unveiled each night. On the fourth week of each show, TWO picks will be announced. This means that a total of 10 wrestlers (5 from Raw, 5 from SD) will be drafted.

Also during the lottery month, the GMs are free to trade wrestlers between shows.
