Star Ocean 3 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2005 I thought I wouldn't have to see Josh Elliot anymore since he appeared to be off Around the Horn, but then he's hosting Jim Rome's show, of which I see the last 2 minutes of, and now PTI. Him and Michael Smith aren't bad, just not good enough yet to carry a show like this by themselves. The shots between them seem too forced. But they're not as bad as Bob Ryan was. I'd bring back Norman Chad.

Mik 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2005 I think they learned their lesson from last year. At least people know who Michael Smith is and that he is good on TV. Although if Jackie McMullen (I think that's it) shows up again, then I couldn't be more wrong.
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2005 Michael Smith is very good and Josh Elliot is passable for both PTI and JRIB. While I can stomach Wilbon, I just have it out for Kornheiser. Korny just seems like a more annoying Woody Paige. Skip Bayliss 0wns, especially when he subs for Rome on the radio because of the email exchanges with the clones. Skip would 0wn more, but he has too many conspiracy theories that are full of it.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2005 Bayless is possibly the most annoying man on TV, he HAS to have someone like Woody around to balance out his boorish act. It's funny watching Cold Pizza/1st and 10 this week with Jay Crawford on vacation and poor Dana Jacobson having to mediate those two. She seems to get pissy easier and Bayless knows it, so he fucks with her a lot. There seems to be legit hostility there, haha.

Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2005 Michael Smith is such a dork, and Stat Boy is too cocky now on PTI. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh yeah, cause Max Kellerman was so humble? I know a lot of people hate the change on ATH, but I think Reali has done a fine job in place of Max. Did I, Max get canned, cause I haven't seen it in a real long time? razazteca 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2005 Yup, they fired Max and THE Michael Hollyworth. Max Kellerman made a few appearances on MSNBC debate shows.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2005 I thought Max was doing some boxing commentary work for FSN? Oh well, what a stupid career decision for him, Holly and that Wolf guy to leave ESPN for that hippie show that had a snowball's chance in hell of taking off. Also, I haven't seen that guy with the long-ass last name subbing for Jay M. on ATH, but he's pretty good. Needs to work on his timing in the final segment, but that's passable. I think Reali has done a fine job in place of Max. Ditto. I also liked that Zack guy when he subbed for a week...
Guest Smues Report post Posted July 7, 2005 Kornheiser said on his radio show that he goes on vacation after this week for I think 2 weeks, but Wilbon is either back next week or the week after that. So hopefully no prolonged period of 2 replacements like we've ahd in some previous summers. (Crosses fingers that we never EVER see Lebetard and McMullin as the fill-ins on the same show again)

Guest Mosaicv2 Report post Posted July 7, 2005 Max has a 1-hour show on ESPN Radio here in New York now. It sucks. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Let me guess: 30 mintunes of boxing 30 mintunes of the Yankees like I ain't surprise.
the max 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2005 What's a mintune? Anywho, Max filled in for Dan Patrick a few weeks back and did a decent job I guess. He's not that bad when he's not screaming.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2005 One thing I've noticed is that on both ATH and PTI there has become an almost unhealthy obsession with the Yankees. It's become more noticeable of late, not sure why. Perhaps I didn't notice as much when the Yankees were actually WINNING and going deep in the playoffs, but this year it's really getting on my nerves hearing this constant shit about "What will Steinbrenner do? How will the Yankees get back to the World Series?" This is a team that isn't even the WC team right now bear in mind. I wish they would just shut the fuck up about the Yankees constantly. It seems Wilbon is the only guy there who tells it like it is in regards to a lot of people outside the NE not giving a shit about Yankees/Sox and wanting to hear about some other teams that are having good years. The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2005 Well look at who you have on the shows. Reali from New York, Kornheiser from New York, Smith from Boston, Bob Ryan from Boston. They're Yankees or Sox fans, of course they're gonna dwell on that.
Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2005 I,Max was an ok show IMO. I enjoyed maxs arguements with Holley as they had a good chemistry. I cant satnd skip bayless, he comesacross as a loudmouthed geek, not to mention that he hates my yanks and admits as much on tv, yet continues to be invovled in discussions about the team. and even as a fan I agree that these shows have become obssesed with the yanks. When they won world titles, they had way less press then they do now.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2005 Not only are they obsessed with the Yanks, but also the Sox and Lakers. Larry Brown news is starting to get on my nerves, too...

imajackoff? 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2005 It's funny that PTI is such a simple formula, but only works when the two principle stars are there. However, I do llike the Lebatard shows cuz he doesnt mind playing the heel. Does anyone get the feeling that Stephen A. Smith hosting the Rome show was more of an audition than a fill-in.?
