I missed em. Clearly the high ratings of the Worlds, World Juniors and Memorial Cup means most Canadians echo my sentiments.

Also, what exactly construes revenue?

I mean, this is a pretty broad spectrum when you consider all things involved, not just TV and Ticket sales. How much of things like food, merchandise, parking, board ads count towards the 54 percent of revenue limit?

I missed 'em, if only because I enjoy going to the occasional Blue Jacket game.

Yes, I know they blow. I enjoy the games regardless. :D

Voted one, as I really love hockey as my favorite sport. But a small part of me wanted to vote three, as this was as bad as any work stoppage ever. Worse than all others on field missing a full season, and the players and co. said some of the dumbest things I'd ever seen, right up there with the basketball players "charity" game for themselves("We make alot of money, but we spend alot of money") But it's back and with a good effort at balancing the league out, so I'm happy. Just hope Yzerman can make it one more year. Hope the rule changes aren't too severe but still help out the game.

Oddly, I'm between 1 and 3.

I am happy that they're back because I love the game, but at the same time I'm pissed that they wasted an entire season because Goodenow can't do his fucking job.

I absolutely can't wait for the season to start. I'm suprised at how many people in Canada are saying that they didn't miss hockey that much. I can't be the only one who loves to sit around with friends and watch HNiC every Saturday.

My theory is that once the HNIC music rolls, all the 'Fuck Em' people will be back.

How long has it been since you heard that beloved tune?

Voted one. I went into the past year thinking I would be in the fuck em group, but a couple months in every Tuesday and Thursday I would say to myself "I wish the Flyers were on".

I'm actually going to attempt to watch Hockey this season, but I attempt a lot of things.

Somewhere between 1 and 2 myself.

I was really looking forward to hitting up a Sharks game or two this past season. And while I'll be happy to see them playing again, and I'll try to see a game in person... The key word is -try-. I'm not gonna go out of my way to go to a game whereas before all this nonsense, I probably would've taken a day or 2 of leave to go. :)

I voted #1, but as a Penguins fan, number #2 would probably have been more appropriate based off the last three seasons.

I heard Mario Lemieux found some new investors for the team. He stills wants to play in a new building in Pittsburgh but so far nothing has happened. The salary cap supposed to help them.

I voted 1 ... I won't even pretend otherwise, I'll be at the former-Fleet for the first B's home game, and probably making a trip to Montreal and maybe Toronto for a game up there, too. And getting the hockey package on On Demand.

Yes, I'll still hate Bettman and Goodenow, but I love hockey more than I hate both of them.

He still party owns the team but some guy from California who used to be involved with the San Jose Sharks now has majority interest. I can't remember his name and I'm too lazy too look it up.

The cap will help them out it that it will help make decent players more affordable and that they will not be trying to compete with a $22 million payroll against teams $50-70 million, but yes they still need a new arena to bring revenue in (luxury boxes and vendor space is what the Penguins say is lacking in the Mellon Arena).

The Penguins right now will probably be closer to the salary cap floor than the ceiling.

Edit: William Del Biaggio is his name.

Speaking of the Pens, they got the #1 pick in the draft.

Ducks got #2 which was a big suprise to me.

Yeah, I just found out a little while ago.

I also found out my wife is pregnant.

I'm having quite a day.

Wow congrats. My wife is also pregnant with our 2nd child.

Ok back to the topic, is there a team that is hated by the NHL more than Chicago Blackhawks?

"3) Fuck em. Never again will they get my cash."

They knew well and good when the deadline for a CBA was (Sep. 15th 2004 or so, I think) and didn't even begin negotiating until the day before. All this petty bullshit led to the NHL not handing out the Stanley Cup in 2005. There were points where they didn't negotiate for weeks and I believe, once for an entire month. Fuck em all, I am done with them for good.

On an aside, hockey wasn't gone, the NHL was. I had tons of fun watching the Calgary Hitmen, the World Juniors, going to the Viking tournament in Camrose, and watching local teams. There was even some good hockey from Europe on TV once in a while. Hockey isn't back, it never left. The NHL left.

I voted "Hockey's Back?" mostly because I just don;t care one way or the other. I used to root for them to do well even though I didn't watch Hockey because I thought it was good to have four major sports. After the strike though, I really don't care. Frankly, I wouldn't be suprised if the NHL folded in the next few years simply due to lack of a TV contract.

They have a TV contract, but it's regional. Each market airs their own games, there's just no national tv deal.

It's not a good tv deal, but it's a tv deal for now. I think they'll get someone to pick up the playoffs.

You know, I never really cared for hockey outside a waning curiosity for the Chicago Blackhawks, but this whole thing with the lockout is making me want to see more hockey. Too bad San Diego wouldn't likely air any Blackhawks games :(
