Title : TWO WWE SUPERSHOWS AND MORE

Author : Georgiann Makropoulos

Date : 09/09/2005 (09:46:30 PM)

WWE SUPERSHOWS  (Both RAW and SMACKDOWN)

October 21st  Albuquerque, NM  The Pit  7:30 PM

Tickets on sale 9/24 @ 10 AM

Sunday, November 13th  Minneapolis, MN Target Center

Don't have day of ticket sales yet.

I am assuming that the taping is on a Sunday because the European tour starts November 15th in Germany and Italy.

Bad news for us East Coast fans.

It appears that there will be no more shows at Madison Square Garden this year. I am told by a very reliable source, there is a problem between the WWE and MSG Management.  There are no plans right now for 2006 shows either.

This news is very shocking to me, since Capital Wrestling, WWWF, WWF and WWE have been in the Garden for over 60 years.

Known as "the world's most famous arena," Madison Square Garden is a 20,000 seat stadium hosting everything from dog shows to rock concerts to sporting events (Knicks, Rangers, WWE Wrestling)

This is pretty interesting, I always thought that WWE had some kind of exclusive contract with MSG?

MSG was one of the very few things Vince McMahon Sr told Vince to take care of.

WWE can't lose MSG. That is WWE's "Home".

However, I'm not too concerned about this because Vince treats MSG with top honor and MSG can't mind them selling out the venue as it usually does for the ppvs and raws.

Possibly Vince and Co. don't want to go there anymore because the crowd takes over the event, and make thier product look as silly as it is at times.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's a factor. MSG has never been afraid to call WWE on their shit.

If they were so afraid of crowds turning against them, they would never held events in Philadelphia or Toronto as well.

This, like most cases with Vince McMahon is a power struggle with giant egos.

Okay, Let's go ahead and assume that WWE and MSG cease to have a relationship.

What will become WWE's new "home"?

Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA

Continental Airlines Arena, East Rutherford, NJ

Maybe the Fleet Center in Boston.

I think the Staples Center gets more shows than any other arena but MSG. Since I moved ehre in November, we've had at least 1 house show, 1 Raw, and WrestleMania 21. They tour the surrounding areas a lot as well. Anaheim got a Raw/SD supershow (damn me not getting to use my ticket) and I believe one other show. San Diego gets several shows per year. Next month, there is a house show in San Bernardino and Raw at Staples.

Indeed. It's rare that we'll go more than 2 months without a show at Staples or Arrowhead Pond, and most are TV tapings. 'Tis a drastic change from where I used to live in Springfield, Illinois, where we'd be lucky to get one house show per year.

They still tour "bizarro land", so I doubt that has anything to do w/ it.

Well, yeah, but they can just outright say "Oh, you silly Canadians" on their programming to save face. When a crowd from the building that they've touted as their home base for decades, though, is tearing their product apart, THAT'S when it starts looking really bad.

They always dismiss that because they're Canadians, though (which makes no sense). I like the idea that WWE gets heat from their "home." They can't very well dismiss that.

Vince isn't going to be pissed because MSG tells him what sucks.

MSG has always been the proving ground for gimmicks, characters, champions, etc. If it can not get over in MSG, then it can not get over, period. MSG's crowd comes closest probably to Vince's mindset himself. Pops for big guys and "legends," not as hot about WCW imports, although even Scott Steiner got a crowd pop at SurSer since so much of the crowd had never seen him wrestle in years.

Vince knows he's onto something when he brings down the house at MSG, and knows he's got to look for an eject or reboot when people shit on things at MSG. HHH has been forced on us all since a bunch of people made a monster welcome back pop for his promo. It's probably the only building Vince will "listen" to, anymore.

MSG and the McMahon wrestling business goes back to the 1940s, and earlier if you want to count a number of boxing events. Basically, if Vince gives the place up, he's retarded.
