CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2005 There are presumably 100's of matches that we individually love that won't go down as classics, and more or less ar elikely forgotten, say Raw moments or PPV filler, I'm sure we all have a few. I always loved the 6 man elimination on Raw the night Austin interfered with the Zamboni. I can't even honestly remember all the participants, but Droz, Marc Mero, Edge and D-Lo Brown were involved. Also, Shamrock/Rock from WM14. Anyone else?

The Mandarin 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2005 Mysterio vs. Lesnar from 2003, my favourite match between Mysterio and a heavyweight. Others: Orton and Batista vs. Benoit and Edge; my pick for Evolution's best two on two tag ever. Jerry Lynn vs. Justin Credible from an episode of ECW on TNN; my favourite Credible title defense. There's others. I just can't think of them.

Guest J0bber Report post Posted October 13, 2005 Call me crazy, but I actually enjoyed the Shawn Michaels/Undertaker brawl at Ground Zero more than their hell in a cell encounter roughly a month later at Bad Blood. Undertaker leaping over the top rope and flying over half the WWF roster to land on Shawn Michaels on the ramp was one of my personal favorite moments in wrestling, and I'm not even an Undertaker mark. Jeff Jarrett is also in it and I want to say Owen Hart was the 6th man but I'm not 100% certain. I didn't think anyone else remembered it. That is definitely one of my favorite Raws ever. For me I love Lance Storm vs. Edge from Summerslam 2001, RVD vs. Chris Benoit from Summerslam 2002 (probably my favorite RVD match), and Rhyno vs. Tajiri vs. Eddie vs. Benoit from Summerslam 2003. Come to think of it, Summerslam through the years is full of these kinds of matches. Everyone seems to brink their working boots for Summerslam but these matches tend to never mean anything so people forget about them. But they're usually some of the best matches all year and Summerslam tends to be my favorite show of the year because of them.

haws bah gawd 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2005 One match I seldom see mentioned was in February '03 on RAW. It was between Chris Jericho and Jeff Hardy. This is far and away the best WRESTLING match of Hardy's career, and Jericho did one hell of a job carrying him. The match went over 20 minutes, and the crowd ate it up. Unfortunately, the rematch at No Way Out was nowhere near as good. I'm normally not too good of a guess on the star rating scale, but I have no problem giving this match *** 3/4. I recommend everyone track this down somehow..
MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2005 ECW Champion Justin Credible vs. Tajiri from TNN. Even though Tajiri was a face, he was such a prick in this match. After beating down Credible, he turned his attention to Francine and just kicked the shit out of her 2-3 times during the course of the match. I was feeling sorry for her. Of course Credible picked up the win, but it was satisfying seeing Tajiri get the better of a world champion.
JST 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2005 - Too Cool & Rikishi vs Team ECK, from Judgment Day ... I wanna say 2000? The one where Taker returns as the biker. Just a hot opener to a decent card. - The 12-man "WWF vs Alliance" tag [APA, Scotty 2 Hotty, Spike Dudley, Billy Gunn, Big Show vs Dudleys, O'Haire, Palumbo, Bill Demott, Tommy Dreamer] on a Raw episode. Awesome finishing sequence sees the participants hitting their finishers in succession, culminating with Big Show pinning Dreamer with a chokeslam. And both were legal! Same episode that featured Milkomania.

I love both matches, but Ground Zero might just barely have the edge over HIAC for me. HBK's sell-jobs on some of the early stuff is priceless. I, being a huge Taker mark at the time, was loving watching him kick HBK's ass. The feud as a whole is one of my all-time favorites. Also, the opening match at Survivor Series 95 - Jannetty, Holly, Horowitz, & Hakushi vs. 1-2-3 Kid, Skip, Radford, & Pritchard. It's basically the jobber bout, but everyone was on that night. Just an awesome match from top to bottom.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2005 Guess I won't check out the Garvin/Valentine match then. The problem I have with the Ground Zero match is that it shows the inherent emptiness of Michaels' style. His whole purpose in matches seems to be getting his ass kicked and doing wild overselling. Yeah I know it seems like Shawn never lost to UT, but given the way he was beat down do you really think he could seriously WIN vs. UT without ludicrous interference? Where Credible still had the band-aids on his head?(In hindsight, it was probably a work, as they used to do TV Tapings the Saturday prior) God yes, the Asai Moonsault blocked and turned into That's Incredible kicked ass, and Tajiri got a monster pop. Good call. I also bought Tragically Hip's Up To Here that day. July 21, 2000 it aired.

THE LEGION OF DOOM - WWF Superstars late 91 Animal has Michaels up for a powerslam. Jannetty comes in to do his "dropkick Shawn in the back and make him fall on Animal" traditional spot...but for like the first time ever, HE F's up (storyline) and dropkicks Animal (who spun around), sending Michaels to be slammed double! 1-2-3! Breakup further teased. I just loved seeing my fav team get a title shot against unbeatable LOD.
thecitythesky 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2005 * I think I'm the only person I've ever heard of that's so enamored with the Dibiase/Roberts match from WM VI. To me, at least, if fabulous from top to bottom. With Roberts continually going for the DDT, after delivering (in my opinion) one of the awesomest promos ever, and Dibiase dropping out of it; all the way to the manager save into the DQ finish showing Dibiase's desperation. Sure, the non-finish may trouble some - but it's a mid-card/feud lengthening bout in the middle of a card when we can really only demand that the main event angles be ended, lest we be without anything to care about the future for. UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2005 But not even DiBiase's post-match antics were enough to stop Boss Man from overcoming the monster that was Akeem.

tommytomlin 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2005 The Kidman/Eddie match from Starrcade 1998, directly after the Rey/Juvi/Kidman bout. Kidman winning two matches in a row, the background of the lWo feud and a hot crowd made it. Overshadowed due to the overall crappiness of Starrcade '98. Just a hot opener to a decent card. JUG BAND~! Best ECK segment ever. Garvin/Valentine is still good, especially for 1990 WWF. Worth another look anyway. Undertaker vs. Mankind, Revenge Of Taker. Complete throwaway show, but this is as good as any of the other Taker/Mankind matches. Certainly better than HIAC which still gets all the plaudits. Mankind's "head-first throuh the announce table" bump still remains one of my favourite Foley moments. Mikey vs. Kidman from Uncensored '99. I also dug Steiners vs. Shrinkers from Mania IX, but maybe that's just me.
Papacita 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2005 Yeah I know it seems like Shawn never lost to UT, but given the way he was beat down do you really think he could seriously WIN vs. UT without ludicrous interference? Wasn't that the whole point of the feud? They didn't want people to believe that Shawn could beat Taker straight up. They wanted people to pay to see Taker kick his ass. As for matches I love...HBK vs Jarrett from IYH 2--the match gets praise, but not nearly enough as it should IMO. Same for Bulldog/Bret from IYH 5. While I'm on 95 stuff, I've gotta mention the Bret Hart/Jean-Pierre Lafitte matches from IYH 3 and Raw respectively, the Bret/Hakushi Raw match and the Wild Card Match from Survivor Series. And yeah, that Underdog/Bodydonna Survior Series tag was pretty good...I love 95 WWF. Sue me. Prior to SummerSlam 98, there was this big 4-way Tag Title match between Austin/Taker, Mankind/Kane, Rock/D'Lo and the New Age Outlaws. I haven't sat down to watch the match in a few years, but I loved that match when I was younger. For more recent stuff, damn near any Mysterio/Tajiri Cruiserweight title match from 03 and Haas/Benoit from the post-Rumble 03 Smackdown (I love Benoit's selling here). Alro 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2005 Liger & Pillman Vs. Wellington & Benoit - Clash 19 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I can watch that match over and over and it never gets old. Sting vs. Nikita Koloff from Clash 15 - This was the first Clash I watched and I remember Sting getting the shit beat out of him and coming up with a fluke win. It kept Nikita looking like a total badass while sending the fans home happy with a Sting win.
Guest Ransome Report post Posted October 13, 2005 Steiners vs Heavenly Bodies, Survivor Series 1993. Alundra Blayze vs Bull Nakano, Summerslam 1994. As far as I'm concerned, this might be the best WWF women's match ever, although granted there isn't that much quality competition in that field. Mick Foley & The Rock vs Randy Orton, Batista & Ric Flair, Wrestlemania 20. For some reason, I've always liked the buildup and execution of this match. It seems to have been overshadowed by everything else that took place on the WM 20 card, but this is still one of my favourite matches.

pochorenella 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2005 The Rock vs RVD, from some SD! I think. Rocky was WCW champ, and RVD was the Alliance's Golden Boy. Stephanie McMahon came to interfere and caused a ref bump into the ropes, crotching RVD as he was about to do the Five Star. That led to the Rock Botton for the win. Fun match that I always enjoy. The Minnessota Stretching Crew (Brock Lesnar & Shelton Benjamin) vs The Disciples of Synn ©. From a SD! Taping. The Crew wins the crowd over thruout the match, making them mark for the hot tag and when Brock slammed the Disciples' manager, Synn. And watch the crowd erupt when Lesnar does a picture-perfect Shooting Star Press for the win and the Titles. And speaking of Brock... Brock Lesnar © vs Randy Orton, from SD! September 2002. One of Brock's first WWE Title defenses IIRC. Orton gets some good offense in but Brock is just on a roll. Randy goes to the top for a Frog Bodypress but Lesnar catches him, falls backwards and in a single, sweet motion puts Randy in position for an F5. Excellent, mark-out finish. Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2005 I agree with the ECK vs Too Cool/Kish from JD 2000. Surprised no one mentioned Malenko/Scotty from Backlash 00. HBK vs HHH for the world title on RAW late December 03, a great match with a lame finish (HBK superkicks HHH falls on top, ref is out so Bischoff counts three, but shawns shoulders were down as well so no winner) Ric Flair vs Konnan from Bash At the Beach 96 (Flair wins US title with a lowblow, followed by a shoe to the head, and puts his feet on the ropes for the hell of it) Eddie Guerrero vs Konnan Uncensored 96 (US title match, finsih comes with Eddie attempting to leapfrog Konnan, but Konnan lifts his head a bit and lowblows Eddie with his head, Konann checks on him, then covers for the win-Teasing a heel turn) From the same show, Steven Regal vs Fit Finlay or "The Belfast Bruiser",as he was known at the time. A good brawl featuring many stiff shots from both men. Pretty brutal.
