Vern Gagne Posted October 27, 2005 Author Report Posted October 27, 2005 Houston would of won the NL West had they had the two division alignment. "Smartball" is not going away. Not has long as teams keep winning using that category.
Bored Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 Aww how soon everyone forgets the station-to-station World Champs of last year.
Kahran Ramsus Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 Atlanta would have won the West.

A Happy Medium Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 You know, as I saw the post game celebration tonight I was wondering, has any World Series winning team had a player get alcohol poisoning or even die after too much partying? I saw Joe Crede downing champagne like it was Old Style. Behind him was forty more bottles of the stuff.

The Angels were just there, the Astros never had offense, the Braves and Yankees were inconsistent, the Red Sox had no bullpen, on and on and on. It just wasn't a strong bunch this year.
Matt Young Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 ^ Walkin' the line <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Johnny Cash was a badass. You, on the other hand, are an idiot savant. Or just an idiot.. Congratulations, David,
DMann2003 Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 How many of you have seen your team win it all? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hey I got to see the 90 Reds "Nasty Boys" sweep the A's Still doesn't mean I want Cincy to get off its ass an win AGAIN.
Matt Young Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 I've now seen my 3 favorite teams win it all. The Bulls from 1991-93 and 1996-98, the Packers in '97 ('96 season) and now the Sox. I don't care what non-fans say, but seeing your team win the championship of their respectivesport is better than almost anything that can happen in a man's life. I wept openly when Chicago won it all.
The Czech Republic Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 I qpt openy when Chicago won it all. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes.
alfdogg Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 Hey I got to see the 90 Reds "Nasty Boys" sweep the A's ^ I was alive for IU's last national title, too, but I was 4.
Matt Young Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 I like you a lot Czech, but.... shut it for once. I truly was overcome with emotion when the Sox won. Argue semantics over me liking the Cubs as well, but I've always been a Sox fan, and I was quite excited, spelling errors or not.
The Czech Republic Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 I'm a typo goldmine on AIM, if you wanna get me back.

I'm just so incredibly happy over the Sox winning that I don't want anything so trivial to get in the way of that. Your custom title is fucking hilarious, though. No matter how much beer I drank, I can't believe I made such a horrible typo.

Nothing against the team in particular, I've just always rooted for the Phillies or Marlins in that division, just so someonewould knock them off.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 At least the Braves are consistently good. I wish the same was said of the White Sox.
Matt Young Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 At least the Braves are consistently good. I wish the same was said of the White Sox. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Got a point there. Still, we're equal in World Series victories, with about 7-8 fewer division titles, in the last decade.

Fartsauce Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 I wonder if those 2 have been watching any Mr.Garrison and Mr.Slave. Ohh jesusth christ.

lomasmoney Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 I've seen the Red Wings win three championships, I've seen the Pistons win three championships, I've seen Michigan win national titles in field hockey, softball, hockey, and football. But the one thing that eats at me everytime I watch baseball, is that I was born 6 months after the Tigers won the World Series. I can't really even remember the 1987 run where the Twins somehow beat them. All Ive ever known about the Tigers for the last 15 years is that, they went from being an average team who struck out a ton and hit homeruns, to flat out bad, to worst team ever, and now hopefully they are in place to make a White Sox run next year with Jim Leyland. Still, I hear shit from my dad about the 68 and 84 teams and how awesome they were, and how the Tigers were always in the race for most of the 1980's. Maybe next year, we have a breakout year. But those White Sox, wow what a team, they were a joy to watch all year
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 How many of you have seen your team win it all? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000. The first WS I can remember was Phillies/Blue Jays, first NBA finals I can remember was Suns/Bulls and first Super Bowl I can remember was 49ers/Chargers. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I assume we are about the same age, because these three are my firsts, too.
Kismet Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 Iomasmoney's list applies to me basically, unabashed Michigan team homer. Except I was old enough to watch the Tigers win in 84'. So congrats to the White Sox, and Tigers in 06'? *Edit* Homer as in roots for my home state teams I grew up with. I can't stand blind followers of teams that cry over every single call against them or can't semi-objectively look at a game if their team is involved. Those homers suck.
Boon Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 Boston fans have had it better then anyone the past 4 years, so I'm not complaining.
cabbageboy Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 Dear God, first Super Bowl was Niners/Chargers...amazing you'd still watch the NFL. I can vaguely remember a lot of stuff circa 1989 or so, like the Earthquake series, the 49ers/Bengals Super Bowl, etc. That said, the first Super Bowl I ever remember being seriously interested in watching was maybe Cowboys/Bills (52-17). Amazing I watch the NFL after that one. Bulls/Suns was also the first NBA Finals I was hyped for. As far as my teams go it's been a while for U of L. Last national title in 1986, though I was delirious after beating WVU in the Elite 8 this year to get to the Final 4. I was very happy for UK when they won the title in 96 and 98...yet somehow it's not quite the same.
bob_barron Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 My first NBA playoffs memory was Knicks v. Bulls from 1992. Hockey was Habs v. Kings. Baseball was really young, always been a Braves fan. Football was Cowboys v. Bills 1
Bruiser Chong Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 I wish people would stop talking about smallball, since the Sox weren't victorious because they employeed it. Unless you consider a grandslam, lots of homeruns and botched sac bunts smallball.
Vern Gagne Posted October 27, 2005 Author Report Posted October 27, 2005 They played Baseball. Good old fashioned Baseball. Barron you put me in a box.
