You know, as I saw the post game celebration tonight I was wondering, has any World Series winning team had a player get alcohol poisoning or even die after too much partying?

I saw Joe Crede downing champagne like it was Old Style. Behind him was forty more bottles of the stuff.

Houston would of won the NL West had they had the two division alignment.

"Smartball" is not going away. Not has long as teams keep winning using that category.

Atlanta went 90-72.

Houston went 89-73.

BOOM-SHAKA-LAKA

I guess I can be consoled by the fact that this playoff field was really pretty shite, if you think about it. The Angels were just there, the Astros never had offense, the Braves and Yankees were inconsistent, the Red Sox had no bullpen, on and on and on. It just wasn't a strong bunch this year.

How many of you have seen your team win it all?

Hey I got to see the 90 Reds "Nasty Boys" sweep the A's

Still doesn't mean I want Cincy to get off its ass an win AGAIN.

I've now seen my 3 favorite teams win it all. The Bulls from 1991-93 and 1996-98, the Packers in '97 ('96 season) and now the Sox. I don't care what non-fans say, but seeing your team win the championship of their respectivesport is better than almost anything that can happen in a man's life. I wept openly when Chicago won it all.

I like you a lot Czech, but.... shut it for once. I truly was overcome with emotion when the Sox won. Argue semantics over me liking the Cubs as well, but I've always been a Sox fan, and I was quite excited, spelling errors or not.

I'm a typo goldmine on AIM, if you wanna get me back.

Hey, it's nothing against you, my friend. I'm just so incredibly happy over the Sox winning that I don't want anything so trivial to get in the way of that.

Your custom title is fucking hilarious, though. No matter how much beer I drank, I can't believe I made such a horrible typo.

Obvuiously Bob's ansswer is "no", but who else has been sick of the Braves winnings division titles for the last, oh, 8-9 years at least? Nothing against the team in particular, I've just always rooted for the Phillies or Marlins in that division, just so someonewould knock them off.

I think it sounds good in the Phil Garner voice.

Walkin' the line

Johnny Cash was a badass. You, on the other hand, are an idiot savant. Or just an idiot.. Congratulations, David,

It's so cute* when you try to flame with nonsensical statements

I've seen the Red Wings win three championships, I've seen the Pistons win three championships, I've seen Michigan win national titles in field hockey, softball, hockey, and football. But the one thing that eats at me everytime I watch baseball, is that I was born 6 months after the Tigers won the World Series. I can't really even remember the 1987 run where the Twins somehow beat them. All Ive ever known about the Tigers for the last 15 years is that, they went from being an average team who struck out a ton and hit homeruns, to flat out bad, to worst team ever, and now hopefully they are in place to make a White Sox run next year with Jim Leyland. Still, I hear shit from my dad about the 68 and 84 teams and how awesome they were, and how the Tigers were always in the race for most of the 1980's. Maybe next year, we have a breakout year. But those White Sox, wow what a team, they were a joy to watch all year

1996, 1998, 1999, 2000.

The first WS I can remember was Phillies/Blue Jays, first NBA finals I can remember was Suns/Bulls and first Super Bowl I can remember was 49ers/Chargers.

I assume we are about the same age, because these three are my firsts, too.

Iomasmoney's list applies to me basically, unabashed Michigan team homer. Except I was old enough to watch the Tigers win in 84'. So congrats to the White Sox, and Tigers in 06'?

*Edit* Homer as in roots for my home state teams I grew up with. I can't stand blind followers of teams that cry over every single call against them or can't semi-objectively look at a game if their team is involved. Those homers suck.

Dear God, first Super Bowl was Niners/Chargers...amazing you'd still watch the NFL.

I can vaguely remember a lot of stuff circa 1989 or so, like the Earthquake series, the 49ers/Bengals Super Bowl, etc. That said, the first Super Bowl I ever remember being seriously interested in watching was maybe Cowboys/Bills (52-17). Amazing I watch the NFL after that one. Bulls/Suns was also the first NBA Finals I was hyped for.

As far as my teams go it's been a while for U of L. Last national title in 1986, though I was delirious after beating WVU in the Elite 8 this year to get to the Final 4. I was very happy for UK when they won the title in 96 and 98...yet somehow it's not quite the same.
